I was all ready to give the iSteady X 5 stars and an entirely favorable recommendation. It works so nicely in all its gimbal modes and is a real winner. But there's a serious problem for me in shooting video. I have a Motorola Moto G7 Optimo Maxx smartphone. It is also an excellent performer. But I bought it and the gimbal to shoot 4K video. The phone shoots 4K on its own, but when it's paired with the gimbal and is using the Hohem Pro app, no matter where the video settings are set, on both the phone and the app, it will shoot only 1280 X 720 video. However, if I close the Hohem app and open the phone's own camera app, it will shoot 4K video on the gimbal. It does quite well on the phone's own app, performing the basic gimbal functions. But I can't change the gimbal's modes and some of the controls don't work. I have to tap the photo/video selection on the screen and tap the screen to work the shutter and video start/stop. If I need to change the gimbal's modes, then I have to open the Hohem app and do that, then return to the phone's camera app. I just downloaded a firmware upgrade for the gimbal and I don't know what effect that had on this problem. Maybe Hohem will correct this 4K problem in another firmware upgrade? I wonder how many other smartphone models might have this incompatibility.

It was the perfect size/weight for what it is, but no matter how much I messed with it the phone would noticeably list to one side or the other. And I really didn't like the app. I have a Hohem iSteady Pro3 for my GoPro, and I love it. I purchased the "X" faultlessly thinking it would work similarly. It didn't. But the fact that the phone would not balance perfectly was the deciding factor. I ended up returning the "X" and purchased a Hohem iSteady Mobile+. It works similarly to the Pro3 and shares the same app. I'm happy with the Mobile+, knowing I can switch between it and the Pro3 using the same app and the controls work the same.

After downloading the app for connectivity, I was able to test this item out by going outside and taking many photos and few videos. The gimbal really helps to stabilize the videos I took and definitely something I was missing in the past when I made different videos. It is not the fastest most responsive ever but it is definitely something that works well if you are just trying to take everyday videos or filming your everyday life activities. Not necessarily for high intensity activities but for the price, I did not expect it to be. Perfect starting gimbal to just really step up quality of videos or even photos. Buttons are really nice and easy to use. Just make sure to connect it via bluetooth before activating anything so that you are not confused as to why it isn't stabilizing. I also like how it comes with a mini tripod stand that directly screws in too. Easy to store and carry around with the bag that is provided.

This is my first gimbal, and I wanted to get something I would use. I was looking for compact and lightweight. Check. I was looking for easy. Check. I was looking for an app that would help me create more advanced shots easily, much the way my Insta360 One R does. Check. I thought my videos were pretty smooth before, but this gimbal really smooths things out. It has a face following feature that is really helpful when shooting YouTube videos. I no longer have to use my front facing camera so I can frame up. My husband, who usually shrugs off my purchases that I think are really cool, is genuinely impressed with this little gadget. I can't wait to take it to Hawaii...as soon as we can go without being quarantined.

The gimbal itself its really good, portable, light weight and super easy to use. For those who are looking to have a super easy to use gimbal this is the right one for you. If you looking to get more serious about filming and contemplating the idea of adding lenses, ND filters and counterweights. This is NOTthe device for you. You can still add these to the gimbal. But does it gonna hold weight!??? Not really. Why!??? The limit payload in this device is 280g. Roughly phones are roughly around 100-150 or more. For example I have and iphone XR, with case and moment lenses. The weight is over to 250. Unfortunately you will burning the motors and going through batteries fairly quickly. Lastly its not compatible with Filmic PRO yet. My conclusion. As an technological product definitely getting 5 starts. For a semi pro level filming. 1 star Any add-ons consider a different device.

It is the best stabilizer that I have been able to have compact, easy to use and for lovers of vlogging and photos this should not be left to start your world of networks for the practice and the shots that it lets you do in videos and photography. The app has good resolution .. The media could not be loaded. Fun to use! It stabilizes video very well. Compare the first part (without the gimbal) vs the second part (with the gimbal) of the video while I "sprint"/ walk fast. It is very small and lightweight making it great for travel. It can also track your face or an object, but this only works with their app. Make sure it is connected to your phone via bluetooth to use these features. The app has a lot of other features / modes but it can be a bit buggy. However the gimbal works great with my regular phone app so it's not a big deal.

Pretty good! Does what I needed it do. The video quality with the app was quite lush. It tends to wander of at times and it won't work until you download the app and give your email. Other than that, I must say it really gave me the quality I was looking for without having a huge budget to work with to film!
