Overall this is a good set that comes with good directions, well separated steps, and pieces that go together easily. I did find some minor issues with the set that I have detailed in a pros and cons list. I should also note that we have not finished this piece yet, but I wanted to post a review since we don't plan on finishing it until the thanksgiving break. Pros: - very detailed - for the set you get, it is a great value for the money. - detailed and easy to follow instructions - pieces snap together easily - fun to build - so far no missing pieces cons: - the 8+ guideline might be undershooting the age. I think unless you have a child that is very very into legos and is detail oriented, a guideline of 10+ is probably more accurate - I was given a piece that was the right size, but wrong color for where it went. - while I had very little trouble snapping brick pieces together, I did find that a few of the more detailed gras like pieces were more difficult to put together. Ended up with some stress streaking on the plastic. overall a deal for what you get and really neat. Can't wait to finish the piece.

The media could not be loaded. This HOGOkids brick build is delightfully designed. They incorporated everything you would want to see in an aquarium. Penguins, a walrus, sea anemone, bioluminescent flat fish, squid, schools of fish, a polar bear, crab, turtle, and seahorses are all present within this dynamic build. The delightfully colored coral, placed throughout, give just the right touch. If that wasn’t enough, a moving shark was placed center stage. I particularly like the movement, light and depth incorporated in this build. The shark slides back and forth like it is stalking its next meal. The up and down movement of the squid makes it appear to be swimming. The light, that comes on with a small little dial turn, makes the sea floor come alive. Clips, antistuds, and technic bricks with holes are used intelligently to allow fish to be mounted at different locations on the background. Amazing acrylic blue pieces create viewing regardless of whether the book book is open or closed. I appreciate that there are no stickers in this set. The main piece on the book nook with the aquarium sign is printed on the part. There were a few challenges I had while completing this build: -I question some of the chosen assembly order. It was difficult to put the back wall on when all the sea life pieces were placed in front. When assembling this, make sure you place your hand in the front, towards the bottom, to help you brace without breaking off pieces and having to put them back on. -Be aware that there were times when it is precarious with the three pieces until the upper hinge brings them together. -The squid was the most frustrating part of the build. Pieces would fall off. Also, placing it on the arm takes added care. Although, it is one of my favorite details once it is in place. -The flat bioluminescent fish doesn’t seem to connect well to the floor, but enough is built up around it that it stays put. -The lights are cool, but difficult to turn on the pieces they are attached to. I recommend taking it off, turning it on and then putting it back in place if you would like it on. With that being said, the bricks fit together well - they were a tight fit at times, but nothing frustrating. This set has standard sized bricks so thy are compatible with major brands. As a booknook, the sharks snout sticks out so you still have a fun little scene to look at the fish are placed amazingly to give it a 3D affect, they pop off the wall and there is even one that is swimming into the back wall. You can see the polar bears and penguins above so they have done an amazing job to make sure there is interest when it is displayed as a booknook There is a clip in the front of the book nook that holds it together. If you love an aquarium without all the work- this is an awesome little brick built to own and is sure to look amazing on your shelf! This says ages 8+, however, there are some parts of this build that would be good to have an adult around to help with. The instructions are fantastic, full color, with part keys and they are easy to understand. The bags are labeled well so you can open just the area you are working on. Overall this is an amazing build and buy for your money - go get it!

We have done a few book nooks now and this one was definitely cute and a tad less busy than some. -It came in well packaged and in perfect shape, no missing pieces. -The pieces are separated into numbered bags that go with that same numbered step. -The instructions are pretty good and give you good views of where you are working and not too many pieces going on at once. Although in some sense it reminds me of a flower build where the order in which they have you put things on really gets in the way of the next steps. You do have this same issue with other book nooks but this one they tend to be more prone to fall off when working around them. -The piece quality is also good with everything well formed and evenly colored. The pieces all clicked together as they should and have stayed unless you bump them. -You do really need to take care when closing, again not necessarily on this set in particular a folding set thing. -The suggested age range of 8+ might be a bit low for the complexity. -This set is definitely for show not play. -The finished set matches the listing photos very well. -It has a bunch of neat details hidden throughout. Overall it was an enjoyable set to build and would make a good addition to any collection.
