  • Solid, reliable e-bike so far
IMPORTANT LATE NOTE: I thought I had a problem with the charger and went to Hitway. Turns out, apparently if you buy from Amazon you only have a 30-day warranty rather than the 1-yr warranty the company offers. Same price from Hitway, 1-year warranty. You decide. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I rode a non-powered 29er for years but had to quit after knee surgery. Just got the e-bike and assembled it yesterday. Easy, quick job. I'm 5'9", 180 pounds. I've ridden it about five miles so far, on paved streets and along forest roads above our house that are in places pretty rough. It handles beautifully, has lots of power, accelerates quickly but in a controlled way, keeps its speed on upgrades (governed to 19mph on Level 3, goes up to 24mph on downgrades). The pedal assist works great, kicks in after a few seconds of pedaling, the perfect exercise for my bad knee, which I think will help to strengthen it over time. You can also run without pedaling at any speed up to the level you set (Level 1= 10mph, 2=15mph, 3=19mph); pedal-assist brings you up to each of these speeds, but it's easy to turn assist off temporarily with a quick taps to the brakes or by stopping pedaling. Brakes weren't adjusted quite right, and the back brake wobbles and whines. But that's a fairly easy fix if you've messed with bikes before. It's heavy (75lbs), but it moves fairly well with non-assisted pedaling, though probably not so well uphill. Great to have a removable battery for charging. The multi-tool and lock it comes with are nice added features, though I'll get a longer-cabled, better-quality lock for it eventually. I can't speak about reliability over time, of course, but right now I'm absolutely loving this most excellent toy. UPDATE: I've ridden the bike over 60 miles, most of that on forest roads. It has held up very well to now. Good battery, good power, solid. Front light wire detached, had to reattach and tape, but no big deal. Still loving this bike! 100-mile update: Bike is great, takes me everywhere with ease and battery is extremely long-lasting. Cruised across town and back, total ten miles, battery still read "full," so used less than 20%. Really have no huge concerns. Headlight cable broke at junction, but I just taped it and it's been fine. Loaded it with me (185 pounds), heavy camera and long lens, tools, lawn chair, binoculars, and cruised up to a nearby lake. Went wel, nearly at full speed despite moderate climb. 3.0 tires are a little thin to make it through heavy sand, so not a great beach bike, but I'm in AZ, so.... not a big issue. Tires are really thin except where there's tread, so I wasn't surprised to get a flat already. Replaced tube with Slime-sealed tube, and got two thicker tires, which should solve the problem. I do suggest getting better tires if you're using it off road. 20"/3.0 tires are expensive and somewhat rare, so you'll have to shop around. Power level reader is odd: shows battery dropping pretty fast under heavy strain but pops back to 4 or 5 (out of 5) dots once you reach the flats again, so it's likely more predictive than an accurate real-time measure, i.e., if you cruise at this load, this is how much battery you'll probably have. All in all a great bike that I use nearly every day. FINAL UPDATE: Nearly 300 miles now, half on forest roads. Very reliable, will probably do 30 miles all e-power on flats, at least 15 miles on sloped roadways. Heavy for sure. Wish it was 20 pounds lighter, but the exchange is that it's very solid. Nothing has changed--still a great little bike. I did find that one could, if one wished to, manipulate the...um... top speed within the regular controller menu. If one chose to do that, one would find that it no longer has 3 set speed levels--set it to one and it'll go all the way from 0 to top speed, which could be as high as 28 mph (legal for Type II in California). But cruise control gets the same result. Obviously, with speed set higher one would get less mileage, but it's a good tradeoff if one wanted to have that extra few mph to maneuver safely in traffic or zip along on a shorter run. That's what I've heard, anyway. Overall, totally happy with the bike. ... show more

  • Really good quality
I purchased this bike on Black Friday from Amazon, and it has been an incredible asset for my school commute. Assembly was straightforward, and the reliable performance has exceeded my expectations. The bike's long-lasting battery delivers 30 to 40 miles per charge, meaning I only need to plug it in once a week. With its powerful motor, tackling hills is effortless, and simple repairs like fixing a tire are hassle-free. Equally impressive is the outstanding customer service. The team was responsive and helpful, answering all my questions and providing seamless warranty maintenance, even assisting with my insurance company. This high level of support enhances the overall experience, making this bike a top recommendation for anyone looking for reliable, efficient, and worry-free transportation. ... show more

  • Great for the price!
So, I've only used it a few days so far, I've currently put in about 35 miles of riding on it. Overall, it's been quite nice to ride! It's comfortable, has a good bit of power, and is nice and speedy while still being a legal e-bike. I'm just under 6' (178cm) tall and about 200 lbs. (91kg) I'll be interested in really testing it's general range capability as it is stated to have a max range between 55km-120km (34-75 miles). This seems about accurate. Over time, I'd like to try and figure out approximately how far it would go in each assist mode. The bike has 3 motor assist modes. Mode 1 is pedal assist only (throttle does not function in this mode) and goes up to around 10 mph (16kmh). Mode 2 goes up to around 15 mph (24kmh) and does let you use the throttle. Mode 3 goes up to around 20 mph (32kmh) with full throttle mode as well So far, driving it in mode 3 on almost all throttle, I went about 20 miles before the battery indicator got down to one bar. I'm pretty sure, taking it easy and going 10 or 15 mph would extend how far you could go, but I haven't really tested if there's any appreciable difference in ranges based on the mode/speed yet. My biggest complaint about the bike so far is actually about the gearing ratio for the pedals. Gear 7 just isn't a high enough ratio for the bike, in my honest opinion. You have to pedal so fast in order to actually do anything by the time you get to about 20mph. 10 mph is a comfortable pedaling speed. 15 mph is getting to about the limit of comfortable speed for pedaling. 20mph is just not really feasible to keep up with by pedaling except maybe in short bursts. On the plus side, you don't have to actually pedal at speed in order for the pedal assist system to work. As long as you keep rotating the pedals, it will give you power (this would be if you just didn't want to use the throttle). But it just feels awkward doing this. It also makes it very difficult to actually use any of your own power as a result once you're going at those higher speeds. So, there's no real way to do anything but full motor assist at those speeds. The headlamp is bright! But it's also overly focused in one direction. It would be better to have the beam spread out a little more. But it definitely does the job and is more than adequate for safe road use, I think. The motor is relatively quiet, though not the quietest. It's easy-enough to control that by just not going at full acceleration. It definitely has that electric motor whine that you'd expect from a hub motor when going at full acceleration. But it really does have some pretty good acceleration! On paved roads, because of the off-road nature of the tires, you will also hear the sound of the tires on paved roads. It's still not a light bike. While being able to fold is nice, it makes it convenient to put into a trunk to bring it places, it's still a fairly heavy bike. Keep this in mind. :) Also, as a quick thing, this bike does NOT have directional signals. So keep that in mind if that's something you're looking for. I'll definitely try to update this review as I've had the opportunity to ride it more and really put it through it's paces. Update 8/13/2023: So, I've put about 200 miles on it now. At about 100 miles, I got a flat. I also learned that keeping the tires more around 30 PSI is probably best. The tire itself says to inflate to 40 PSI, but I completely blew out a brand new inner tube inflating it to that much. I wish there were more tubeless options for 20x3" tires. If anyone knows of a decent one, I'd love to get one for the back wheel so I don't have to worry about flats on the back tire. May not make for a smoother ride, but it'll give me ease of mind when I travel a lot. Getting a flat out somewhere sucks. But so far, things have been working well-enough! I've put a simple plastic bin on the rear rack area (after removing the cushion), but I do intend on getting a better metal rack in the near future. ... show more
