This is actually my 2nd heater ...I bought one I believe about a year ago, love it. Its protected by a cage thing, so no outrageous impact if dropped. It tells you the tank temp and your desired temp( mostly the same amount) and if it gets unplugged it will remember what your setting is . Very reliable in a year not one problem, got one for hospital tank now . I've bought numerous heaters...this is the best one ever!!! Smart buy for sure!!

I bought five of these to try out in hopes they would do the job. I found over a years time the units all crack the glass they were originally housed in. The ceramic cracked and fell apart. The heater leave an electrical surge to the water ( after it destructs). So far they have not caused harm to my fish. I will replace once I find a product I can count on. This is typical of Chinese products. They work fine up front but break over time.

the temp gauge is at least 5 degress off. I really don't like the way you set temp, although you don't have to do it that often. keep pushing button one way until it reaches top degree until it starts going down the other way. I'd still buy it again though. Just have to see how long it lasts. have a 6 foot tank, handling it no problem

At first, the heaters were nice. I liked the digital display, but they are hard to clean. Than I noticed en error blinking and all my fish were at the top of the tank. When I reached in to check the heater, the water was way too hot and the heaters were smoking. We lost two fish before we could get the water cooled down. I do not recommend

Aquarium heaters have come a long way since I tried one a decade ago. This one is excellent. I have it inside my stock tank, which is inside a greenhouse, and it keeps the water warm enough for my turtle to stay in the greenhouse in winter. A pump circulates the water in the tank. The built-in cage keeps my turtle from hurting himself. I love that the cage is built-in and that the heat element is titanium, instead of glass. It's just a smarter way to build this. The thermostat runs a little low compared to my floating thermometer. I started out with it set on 70, and it kept the water about 66'. I moved the temp up to 80 and now it sits around 75. I will probably move it back down to 75 for a happy medium. ETA you might see some buildup on the bottom half of the element that looks brownish, like rust. It's not rust, but diatoms, and a soak in vinegar gets them off. You do want to remove them to keep the heat conducting into the water.

I currently use this in my 90 gallon aquarium and its been about 4-5 months. It has been fantastic the entire time and the only negative is that smaller fish and snails (if you have them) will go inside the plastic openings. The fish swim back out fine but the snails have died in there once or twice (no biggie to me). Overall I love it and will definitely order this again if the one I have takes a crap down the road. The automatic shut off works great. Suction cups always hold although slightly akward to put on the heater The tempature reader is easy to read and adjust and is accurate throughout the whole tank. (I have a separate thermometer on the other side of the tank to make sure of even heating)
