    • A superior aquarium heater, until it rusted

Aquarium heaters have come a long way since I tried one a decade ago. This one is excellent. I have it inside my stock tank, which is inside a greenhouse, and it keeps the water warm enough for my turtle to stay in the greenhouse in winter. A pump circulates the water in the tank. The built-in cage keeps my turtle from hurting himself. I love that the cage is built-in and that the heat element is titanium, instead of glass. It's just a smarter way to build this. The thermostat runs a little low compared to my floating thermometer. I started out with it set on 70, and it kept the water about 66'. I moved the temp up to 80 and now it sits around 75. I will probably move it back down to 75 for a happy medium. ETA you might see some buildup on the bottom half of the element that looks brownish, like rust. It's not rust, but diatoms, and a soak in vinegar gets them off. You do want to remove them to keep the heat conducting into the water. ... show more

Used for 6 months so far. Replacing the one that came with our tank kit. This one works good. Its nice to able to see at a glace what the temp is and if its heating or not. Happy with product.

I’m torn on this. It’s a really nice heater, I love the look and the visual display… but the temperature is off by like 6-10 degrees. I have two of them and it’s the same on both of my tanks. I guess if you’re okay with that then I would recommend but that bothers me. I would still recommend if that continues to be the only issue as I am just going to adjust the temperature higher to get what I’m looking for. ... show more

    • Buy a few of them because they "DON'T LAST"
Lucky to get a year out of these aquarium heaters if not less because they are made to fail. Oddly they offer reoccurring purchase discounts. Quality is poor, glass tube type I had before lasted for at least 6 to 7 years which is much better. So back to the glass tube type.

I bought five of these to try out in hopes they would do the job. I found over a years time the units all crack the glass they were originally housed in. The ceramic cracked and fell apart. The heater leave an electrical surge to the water ( after it destructs). So far they have not caused harm to my fish. I will replace once I find a product I can count on. This is typical of Chinese products. They work fine up front but break over time. ... show more

    • Works fast.. just a tad off temp

The media could not be loaded. Gets warm fast,, however definitely off anywhere from 5 to 8 degrees but once I found the sweet spot I’m floating between 78 and 80 and tank is in garage. 125 gallons. We shall see how it holds up, I do like that they give extra suction cups.
