  • 4 smart appliances in 1. Blow out cold air fast, higher, farther. Vent AC water out window. 4 smart appliances in 1. Blow out cold air fast, higher, farther. Vent AC water out window.
This review is for Hisense 8,000 BTU Portable Inverter Air Conditioner... AHTP0825UW1W .(2026/5/17) Pros : __ 4 appliances in 1. Air conditioner (AC), heater, dehumidifier, fan. I can use it all year round. I save the space used by 3 or 4 separate appliances. It is usually more expensive to buy these appliances with the same specs separately. __ Easy unboxing. I slided the 4 0.6-inch translucent straps out from the top. With both hands, I lifted the box up and away from this appliance sitting on the bottom (photo 1, 2). I don't have to cut the tapes at the top or lift out the appliance. __ Quick easy setup. I extended the panels to fit the window. Removed the panels. I vacuumed the edges of the window and pressed the foam seals to the edges. Reinserted the panels to fit the window. I connected the 2 hoses to the panels. __ 4 modes Cool / Heat/ Dry/ Fan __ Set the desired temperature and forget. The AC or the heater maintains automatically the temperature I set without my intervention. __2 hoses for faster and more efficient cooling than 1 hose. 1 to exhaust hot air to outside the window, 1 to suck in fresh air. 1-hosed AC creates a partial vacuum that sucks in warm air from nearby. __ Exhausts condensed water from AC out the window. It evaporates condensed moisture, water from cooling through the exhaust hose. I don't have to empty the water tank every few hours like with other ACs. __ I attach the included hose to drain the water. __ Auto shutoff if water tank is full. No water damage on the floor from overflow. __ Spend less money to stay cool. This AC is an inverter AC. Its compressor continuously adjusts its speed to maintain a preset temperature, but never completely turns off. My other AC is a non-inverter AC. Its compressor turns completely off and on to maintain a preset temperature. This inverter AC can reduce electrical consumption by 30% to 50% compared to a non-inverter AC. __ This AC is much quieter than my non-inverter ACs. I sleep with this AC in the bedroom wearing soft Flents ear plugs. __The tall tower design allows cold air to be blown out, stated 7 ft high, over 20 feet away, higher and farther than shorter ACs. Cold air is heavier than warm or hot air. It sinks. Hot air is lighter and rises. That is how a hot air balloon works. __ The electric plug has a reusable circuit breaker to prevent electrical fires, etc. __ It dehumidifies quickly, removes 2 pints of moisture per hour from the air. __ 3-speed fan for cooling without the AC. __ 8000 BTU for cooling or heating. Cools a room up to 350 sq ft fast. __ 3 ways to control. Control panel on appliance. ConnectLife app on phone from "anywhere" with internet access. It works with Amazon Alexa, etc. Hand remote up to 23 ft or 7 m away. It has more buttons than control panel. This appliance works with Amazon Echo, Google Nest Hub, Apple Homepod. __ It has other features like timer, filter alert, etc. which makes life more pleasant. __ The stated Estimated Yearly Energy Cost on the yellow sticker is roughly $60. That varies with cents per kWh. __ 2 year warranty. Cons: __ 49 in or about 4 ft tall. Heavy 72 lb. But I can easily move it with the wheels at the bottom on hardwood or vinyl floor, less easily on high-pile carpet. __ Need new window seals. May need new panels to move to a different-sized window. ... show more

  • replaced an AC and space heater
This thing was almost as tall as me. I'm talking, shoulder height. I'm 5'4". It's heavy and awkward to move but I was able to manage it myself. IT *DOES* HAVE WHEELS you can install the base or just keep it open based to wheel it around. I replaced an old AC as well as a space heater with this in my office. It really was easy to set up, and the outer side of the vents have a grate covering them to prevent birds etc from getting inside. They're also very aesthetically pleasing compared to the average external AC vent. Glad an extra strip of adhesive foam was included, I needed it because I made a mistake initially since my window is very narrow. The vents also have a plastic latch mechanism where they lock into place and have to be released from the window bracket manually. It makes me feel a little safer when the entire assembly is hard to move and the window is harder to open since I'm on the first floor. This does a great job heating my small-mediumish sized office as well as cooling it during hot days when the sun is beating down on the big windows and my PC is generating more heat inside. The AC is very quick to start working, it has a smart connectivity option but doesn't punish you for not using it. The remote is easy and straightforward. Just make sure you don't lose it -- some settings are not on the front of the A/C and only can be accessed from the remote or app, which I have yet to set up. Also the noise is totally non-problematic. I work from home in customer service and often take phone calls, I've had no issues with being understood or understanding anyone. Sound is still a-ok. There's an extra quiet 'quiet' mode for sleep as well. Quick to switch between C/F so it could also be good for airbnb rentals etc. Easy to operate, hard to mess up. Wish the 'fan' setting had a speed option on the remote though. ... show more

  • Quiet, efficient, but giant Quiet, efficient, but giant
Bit 100% great unit, it’s giant. I was not expecting it to be 4 1/2 feet tall. It’s thinner but so tall. Installation was a breeze. Please note the remote control is imbedded into the styrofoam. I threw mine away and had to go search it out so please locate it prior to tossing the styrofoam. The tubes move together and easily lock into the window pieces. The pieces the tubes lock into are just long enough for a standard L-R opening window. It comes with foam to seal the spaces that are open in the window. The plug faces down so you can plug it into the bottom plug and still use the top plug. It’s a bonus. Once it was secure into the window and plugged in, I removed the tape from the vents and turned it on. It took a couple minutes for the air to get cold, but once it did it was cold. The lowest temp is 61° and the cooling performance was greatThe noise level was surprising quiet. There was no noise fluctuation when it turned on or at any point. Sometimes with window units, it’ll make a lot of noise when it switches from active AC cooling to just cooling. This did none of that. It was very quiet at all times. The vents are on the top half of the unit. I’m sure if I had time to use this for a couple months my review may be a little more in depth, but right out of the box, this is perfect. Set up was so quick, it took only a couple minutes for it to begin blowing super cold air, which is impressive considering it’s been in a box likely in storage for months before it made it to me. It’s quiet, but still able to cool my bedroom quickly. It is quite tall, although I don’t think that disrupts anything. I can’t imagine me placing anything on top of a portable air conditioning unit. It’s just surprising at how big it is. I love this thing. I like it more than any portable air conditioner that I’ve purchased previously. ... show more

  • Cool story, bro Cool story, bro
This "portable" AC isn't quite as easy to move around or setup as the store page would lead you to believe, but it's still a good quality product in my opinion. If you genuinely plan on moving this thing around often though, or need something that is truly portable, I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to deal with the same installation headaches over and over again, plus it's pretty heavy (took two people to deliver and was hard for me to get upstairs). Each new installation will require you to resize and refit the window exhaust panels into each new window seal which also requires new sticky foam strips so air doesn't leak in or out of your house. They only give you enough material for one installation. Anything past that, you'll have to buy out of pocket. With portability out of the way, the unit itself is actually very nice and super effective at cooling, heating or drying out a space. It's built for medium to large rooms, so I wouldn't recommend putting it into a very tiny or cramped space. It also needs a decent amount of room around the unit to operate properly (roughly 20" clearance on each side) and a little extra room in the back to drain the tank when it fills up (select models). The temperatures it can produce range from 61 to 86 degrees F and it also has a continuous fan mode if you just want air blowing. It has a timer, a robust remote and other automatic features that give this AC great quality of life usage. Through a smartphone app, you'll also have the ability to control the unit and sync it with things like Alexa and more. This is a really nice option, but not necessary to use the device normally. Installation was a bit of a pain, but mostly because I've never used a device like this before. It took a little while to figure everything out, but once I got it all done and assembled, it made a lot more sense. I think most people will be able to set this up, but others may understandably have trouble. The instructions it comes with are pretty clear, but the parts and hardware can be a little confusing right out of the box. Just make sure you follow the directions as printed so you don't have any issues or leakage. The various modes have a lot of nuance to them as well, so make sure you read the instructions before operation. It's very easy to accidentally put this unit into a mode you may not want it to be in or activate an obscure fan setting, etc. I'd say that it's not super easy to use right away, but once you understand what all the modes are, what the remote buttons do and what all the operation icons represent, it's much more palatable. You'll probably need to keep the manual nearby for the first few days though, as it's easy to forget all of the important info. Power wise, it just connects to a standard outlet (do not use with a power strip) and the energy savings guide claims it only takes about $60/year to operate on average. Though, you'll be spending a lot of money upfront since the price for this unit is pretty high. There are definitely cheaper options on the market that function nearly the same, maybe with less quality of life features though. Still, I'd only recommend this one if you have expendable cash or it's on sale. Yes, it has a lot of very nice features and it's quite effective at controlling the temperature, but the price reflects that. If you just want to cool or heat a space, you can definitely find something cheaper. Some last second, random info: The unit does have wheels on the bottom, which makes it easy to move around on hardwood floors, but hard to move and keep upright on carpet. They do provide "stability" panels that snap onto the bottom to help keep it from tipping over. It's not super loud during normal operation and even has a "quiet" mode. The air panels on the front open and close automatically. The display is not super bright, but can be adjusted with night mode if needed. The unit itself is a bit taller than I expected. Even with foam around the window seal, the exhaust panels are still not air tight. This could be an issue for some people, so it's something to be aware of. Overall, I think it's a great machine that doesn't quite deliver on the "portable" claim and over-delivers in other areas, like wi-fi connectivity, robust remote, nice auto features and good quality parts. I think the base price is a bit high since it only covers one room, but you still get a lot of value with this AC. If I run into any issues down the road, I'll update this review, but if there's no update, you can assume it's still working great! ... show more

  • Perfect height Perfect height
Once I set it up the first thing I noticed was how nice it was not having to listen to the compressor kick on. This being an inverter AC the compressor does not shut down like my previous AC did. It has a nice gentle cooling perfermance that also makes it very quiet. Installation was a breeze as it was just a matter of take out of the box, plug it in and pull the vent hoses to the window. I live in central Florida and my bedroom is on the corner of the house that gets get the most sun in the morning, making my room warmer than other room. Not with this AC in here. It keeps the room right at the set temperature and you barely realize it is doing it, that is how well it works. One of my favorite things is the app that you can use to control the unit. I set a schedule so that when I plan to be in my room it is already cooled down and ready for me, then I do not even have to remember to shut it off, that is part of the schedule as well. I can always just pick up the remote and make any temperature changes as I need. I love the fact that it is narrow and tall, as this allows it to blow directly across my bed. It is not aimed at my ceiling or floor. ... show more

  • Very nice AC/fan
This fan does a great job of cooling an entire living room, I know it’s intended for the bedroom, but I find we use it more in the living room.. I live in the south and it gets hot and muggy often. I feel like this moves the air and it’s not as humid in my house. I don’t think it’s super loud, but I do notice that there’s a fan on in the room. The remote control I think is actually the most difficult part, and it’s really easy. You do need batteries, but it’s really not a problem. The fan is incredibly easy to use, but the instructions are also very clear if you needed to use them. I like that it has a remote control because I can turn it on quite easily and it responds quite quickly. I’m overall very happy with this. Fann and I would get it again! ... show more

  • Great unit! Great unit!
Yes, it is a bit expensive, but you are getting an ac unit and and heater... that is worth it. Our central air broke down and while we are waiting to get it replaced, we have a couple window ac units to tide us over. While they do the job, they are also bulky, can warp window frames over time (as ours have done), they're loud, etc. This one, while still large in size, only has a vent in the window with zero pressure on the window. It is quiet, has no issues putting out cold air or heat, is easy to set up (though can be awkward to move), and has more features than a standard window unit. The remote is easy to use and convenient if you do not want to use the available app. Performs it job well and we haven't had any issues with it. Even when our central air is fixed, I foresee us using it in other places, like our garage since we do a lot of work out there. Also, it isn't bad looking for its size, really. ... show more
