The spaces you see between the back vertical slats holds water - Little mosquito ponds. The color is not consistent throughout when cheapens the look of it plus it shows water spots galore. No where in the description do they speak about color fading. Polywood promises no color fading and has color conformity and easy to clean and is a true black unlike this bench. Bought the bench in Nantucket Blue. We like the color a lot against our backyard white vinyl fence. Was easy to put together since I had my own adjustable Allen socket set. Using the supplied tool will take longer. Hardware is top quality stainless. Had to call customer service since the poly had a defect in one of the arms. Customer service was top notch and received a replacement in two days! Not the cheapest product but will buy again from this company since it is high quality, US made and customer service stands by the product. I’m sure it is easy to clean down the road with Dawn and water. This should last for many years. Also bench is much nicer than Pollywood which looks fake. The Highwood looks like wood. ... show more

The bench arrived one hour ago, and we've already enjoyed a good sit on the porch on this beautiful autumn day. The packaging provided excellent protection and was easy to open. The design is both sturdy and easy to assemble -- nice engineering. The instruction picture is liable to be misperceived, so one must be prepared to look away several times before the illusion is eliminated and the correct orientation emerges (if the manufacturer added a known element, like a person, the illusion would be eliminated entirely). All hardware was present, and the only needed tool was included. Altogether, it took my 13 year old and me around 20 minutes to assemble the bench, and that included several minutes lost to intermittent play with the packing material. The whitewash color is perfect for us (we had our fingers crossed, but weren't sure about the choice based on the online picture); it has a natural-looking weathered look while still appearing substantial and clean. It matches our home's age and the porch's look perfectly. Last but not least, the bench seems comfortable -- nice curve to the seat provides leg support while the back provides firm back support. I like the sturdiness, comfort and looks of this bench. However, it was difficult to put together (for a bench) because the directions are not clear. I had to go back and redo a couple of steps. I usually don't have difficulty putting things together. Make sure you don't tighten any screws until all the parts are together. The manufacturer should label the parts with left vs. right or put letters on each piece. As an artist and teacher, your illustrator needs to test the directions on a variety of people before including them with the product. I would not purchase this again when there are better products with better instructions out there. The slightly lower price is not worth the trouble imo. ... show more

The bench is very cute, but I received the wrong instructions and the wrong hardware. It seems the seat part was for the rounded back and the hardware they sent is probably for the same. I put it together as best as I could decipher, but I'm not sure how sturdy it will be because there aren't enough screws for all of the pieces they sent. I tried to call the company, but it just rings and rings and I never received a response from the email I sent them. ... show more

We had purchased a swing from this company and loved it. In fact, we purchased a second one for our second home, but realized it would not be able to hang we wanted it, so doubled the one at home and bought the bench, instead. It arrived quickly and was easy to assemble except one screw was missing. Hopefully it will not be a problem. The bench is extremely solid, perfectly white and is ideal. I would have given it 5 stars but there was two small places where the composite material had a small dented area but not worth returning, as the cushion I purchased cover the imperfections. I love the color of this faux wood bench. It is super comfortable too and I see us getting a lot of use out of it. My only complaint is that it arrived damaged and it looks like it was just painted on top of the damage.
