Is the 40 oz capacity enough for a family of three? Absolutely! The 40 oz capacity makes approximately 1-3 servings per batch. Perfect for individuals, couples, or small families of three! For larger gatherings, you may need to prepare multiple batches. How do I properly clean the inner container? 1. Pour warm water into the container and press the Self-Clean Button. 2. Clean the removable parts either by hand or in the dishwasher. 3. Dry off the container totally and be sure to wipe down the gap between the inner and outer layers. Why isn't my slushie machine making slush? If it doesn't work, check the sugar content of your ingredients. Note: all ingredients must contain at least 6% sugar or have an alcohol content between 3% and 16%.

It's been a little more than a week now since I received my HiCozy machine. It's a miracle I haven't gained 20 pounds. I bought this machine based solely on the reviews and videos about it. I have been looking for a soft serve machine for quite some time, but could not spend $800.00 to $1200.00 for a small commercial unit to use at home. I have looked at the home units available, but all of them seem to have their own quirks or not work well. Based on the reviews, I decided to give this one a try. Well, I can tell you, it's great! It's very small in comparison to a small commercial unit. It also weighs about as much as a Kitchenaid stand mixer. And oh my, it's so quiet. It just sits there and hums away when it makes something, you don't even have to wear ear plugs. Now, mind you, I figured out really quickly, there is a knack and a science to making good soft serve. I chose to use the commercial Frostline soft serve mix and have tried different ratios and liquids including half and half. The best ratio/liquid so far to use in this machine is 1/4 cup of mix to 1 cup of water. I also set the machine to the soft serve setting and lowered the default speed from 4 to 1. This will create a stiff soft serve that has peaks and will stand up in an ice cream cone. However, it is a bit grainy to the palette. Even with this small negative, this win, is still a win for me. I will continue to tweak the ratio of mix, liquid used and speed until I get to the ideal creaminess that has peaks, just like you get from a commercial machine at Mickey D's Oh, and one other thing, it makes a decent amount of soft serve that you can consume in one sitting without having to waste the remainder or dispense it into a bowl to put into the freezer. One negative, the user's manual is a bit on the basic side. For a machine like this, I would have expected a better users manual with sections on unpacking/set up of machine, including large illustrations and detailed descriptions of disassembly, cleaning and operations. Also needed is a separate recipe booklet with more recipes as well. This rather petite manual is a combination user's manual and recipe booklet and to me just doesn't cut it for the caliber of machine this is. I have yet to try out the slushie and milkshake options, but that will be next on my agenda. Also, clean-up is very simple, put the recommended amount of warm water and dish detergent in it, set it for clean and let it go. Once finished, you drain that water from the dispenser, put warm water in it and set it again for clean, to rinse it. For the clean freaks out there, you can deep clean the unit by removing the freezing container from the unit, taking out the blade, and then washing them both in the sink with some dish detergent, rinse well and dry it with a dishtowel. The metal freezing unit can be wiped with a wet dishcloth and dried as well. As the instructions state, do not immerse the compressor unit in water. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this machine to anyone looking to make soft serve while not having to spend a fortune for a commercial home unit.

Great slushi and ice cream maker. I've made fruit juice and soda slushies. I've made zero calorie slushies. I've made chocolate soft serve. I love everything that's come out of this. Cleaning mode works great. Taking apart for a hand cleaning is easy.

So far I have made ice cream. I used half n half sweened to taste with vanilla and egg yolk. It was good. Clean up was a bit messy. It may get better the more I use it. The slushie was not so good, I don't blame it on the machine. I am thinking the slushie was a fail because there is so much sugar in the kool aid pre mix. I will try again with a different mix. I have not tried any alcoholic beverages. Very quiet running, it does appear to be well made. Freeze time for ice-cream was about 30 min. Slushie was a bit less. I am single so the quantity made is adequate for me. I'm pleased with my purchase. I will update this review in a few months after more use.

At first glance this seemed like a great purchase. I even compared it to another. This one states it’s for a family of 2-4. I would say this is for 2 people and maybe 2 very young children. My children are teens and the amount this machine can make is not enough for 4 adults. The biggest issue we had was the cooling settings. We made ice cream a couple times. It was either too soft or too hard to come out. Also, the speed at which it comes out is so slow that the Ice cream will be half melted by the time you’ve served yourself. I will be returning this item. Not only is the price outrageous but it doesn’t live up to its hype. We plan to replace it with the ninja slushie maker.

I went down the rabbit hole and did a ton of research before deciding on a frozen treat machine. I would say this is the closest thing to a 'prosumer' model, with capabilities ranging from just chilling a beverage and keeping it cold, to slushies, all the way to soft serve. It's also one of the only machines that truly freezes well with alcohol added. It's working great! I made Dole whips today and they were exactly what I remember from Disney. I was really afraid I would buy this and it would become another stale appliance in my pantry, but I can already see this is something I'll be using a lot!

Just tried it for the first time. So this is a limited review. I used the soft serve ice cream mode. I ran it on level 4. I think it was a little too soft so I want to make it colder next time. It only took about 30 minutes to have ice cream. Then I let it stay on cool for a few more hours. The neighborhood kids (and some of their parents) gave thumbs up on flavor. The machine was very easy to clean. The cleaning mode works great but because it was ice cream I disassembled it and clean the film off. Very easy to take apart and reassemble.
