I contracted for some retaining walls around my front beds and ordered this six-pack of "HIBOITEC Hardscape Lighting Low Voltage 7 Inch LED Retaining Wall Lights" to light up the interior of the beds after the walls were built. Lo and behold, that's finally done and I laid out the lights today. I'm happy to report that they work well. Installation was easy: each light has a waterproof low voltage plug and separate socket, so the lights can be daisy-chained. It is possible to extend the length of the wire between the lights or even connect them all directly to the trunk, but I like this arrangement. I actually use the same kinds of male/female waterproof twist connectors on my other outdoor lights, as this makes it easy to rearrange and move them around. When I first received these lights, I tested these in my garage with a 12V battery charger to make sure they all worked, and they did. Today, after laying them out, I capped the last socket with the included cap, and connected the first plug to my 12V trunk line and once again, they lit up perfectly. I had previously decided not to mortar them into the wall because I expect the wall to outlast any lights, so instead I'm going to use construction adhesive to glue the plates to the back of the wall under the cap. But first, I'm going to play with moving them around and finding the best orientation and layout over the next few evenings and for now, I just stuck the plates into the ground to hold the lights steady. I took some photos which are attached. My only criticism, which most might view as a benefit, is that the lights are really bright. I do wish there was an option to dim them but that would also increase the complexity and introduce a possible failure point as dirt gets into everything. In my case, once I stick up the lights, I'll likely point them downward to reduce the brightness a bit. They are definitely 2700K, warm white, which is an HOA requirement in many areas and the 7" size works really well with retaining walls. Finally, the price is reasonable. The lights also run warm. Actually, hot. Not a problem in this application, of course, but you'll definitely want to turn them off during the day with a timer on the transformer to save energy and extend the life of the lights. It probably doesn't need to be said, but I'll say it anyway: these are 12V lights and require a 12V lighting transformer. They do not plug into 120V outlets -- you need the transformer. I personally use Ring transformers because they are reliable, can be controlled by Alexa voice commands, and timing (on/off) can be handled with Alexa routines. These lights work perfectly with my outdoor lighting system, and I recommend them.

I purchased some hardscape lights that looked like these. Those previous lights did not match the intensity and color of the majority of hardscape lights that we had, so we decided to move them to another area, smaller area. Once they were mocked up, my wife did not like the way they looked. Or rather, how the lights made the area look. When it comes to design work, I’m just a grunt. I took the hardscape lights out. While my wife carried them to a storage barn, she climbed a set of steps and had an epiphany. With the attention we had given the front of the house, we forgot about the steps in the back. At the moment, the steps, or staircase, is 8 feet wide. Once the stone work on each side is done, they will be just under 7 feet. They are sheltered from the lighting from the house by walls on both sides. We had talked about lights on posts at the top of the staircase but we could use hardscape lights on each step. We have, uh..1…2..3...4…uh…exactly not enough. I could hear the music starting as I got back on the merry-go-round of the search for matching lights. I have found by experience that looking like another doesn’t mean they will perform like another. But these really looked like the ones I had. They appeared on my doorstep within minutes. Actually, too soon for me to regret my decision. Luckily, the color of the light was the same and so was the light level. Success. The light are 7 inches long. They have about 45 degrees of adjustment. (Let me stop here for a moment. They will be adjustable when you install them, ONLY if you make room for it. Normally, the light is faced directly down. If you want to point more towards the step face or wall, the BOTTOM of the light moves closer to whatever it is attached. If you want to point the light so it will illuminate where you would put your foot, the TOP of the light moves in. You will also want to make sure that you leave enough wire to move the light and it would be a good idea to leave 6 to 12 inches of slack. The lights are held to the bracket with hex screws. If you loosen them, the light will be easier to move. This also means that you can REMOVE the light from the bracket, if it has a problem. Once you have taken the light out and open it or cut the wires off near it so you can connect the replacement. If you put a piece of ¼” or ½” foam where the light will be in front of the masonry work, you can tape it in place when you mask the light where you don’t want mortar. That includes the gap between the light and the bracket at the top. Once it is installed and the mortar has set, you can dig out the foam if you like and secure the wires with latex caulk.) The light has 2 wire leads 5 feet long with connectors so you can put power in then, send power out to the next light. (And, I am going to stop again. I never use connectors outdoors if I can help it and I NEVER use connectors if they make ground contact or go into the ground. Connectors are the number one reason that I find for problems with outdoor lights. I always solder the connections and use individual shrink tubing on each solder connection, then I cover the entire section with at least one more layer of shrink tubing. Be sure to put the wire out of harms way.) The voltage range of 12-24 volts is handy for me. I have a timer that has both and most of the lights connect to the 12 volt side. I have plenty of juice to spare on the 24 volt side. I like these lights as I do the previous ones. For that I gave them 5 stars.

These are substantial lights that are a gift for my son's birthday. They have an ADU with steps and these should light them perfectly. The only failing I can see is that they did not come with a power supply - but that is small price to pay to get well made, substantial lights for his staircase.

These lights give off a warm glow and look decent once installed. The build feels solid, and the brightness level is fine for steps or low walls. That said, installation wasn’t exactly quick. The mounting setup requires a bit of planning, especially if you're not used to working with low voltage lighting. Also, the wire leads are a bit short depending on where your connections are. After setting them up, they’ve stayed in place and light up reliably, but it’s not quite a plug-and-play deal.

Nice landscape lights. These are typically used for hardscapr and Rock but I used them under the overhang around a new cedar deck I'm building. The light is a little brighter than I expected but not terrible. I will be adding a dimmer to control the brightness.
