  • Excellent bike
Color: Black Style: Standard
This e-bike is excellent quality for the price. It is sturdy, comfortable, and rides great. The controls and pedal assist are intuitive and easy to figure out. It was also easy to assemble. I am so pleasantly surprised with this bike. My husband got his first, and inserted mine less than a week later. We are having so much fun with these awesome bikes! ... show more

  • A very good e bike for an amazing price.
Color: Black Style: Standard
Good surprises right from the beginning. Came 3 days early, extremely well packed, clear instructions and very little to put together. Entire assembly took about 20 minutes. Charged to full and hve put 10 miles on the bike with no change to battery power. It looks great and the assist performance is very good. ... show more

  • Okay Bike, Less-Than-Okay Support For This Model
Color: Black Style: Standard
For the price the bike is...fine. If you run into the issue of needing literally any replacement part, you'll be better off going through a local repair shop though. The speed is adequate for neighborhoods and back roads, and it isn't too fast to for most bike paths. The battery life seems to be holding steady. With this being an older model of E-Bike it's very heavy, isn't exceptionally durable, and as mentioned before, lacks a lot of parts availability. There's enough generic parts on the market that can cover most repairs though. ... show more

  • Easy to assemble solid bike
Color: Blue Style: Standard
I was looking for an eBike, and looking for one that looks like a bike, affordable, and gives me a good range. The Heybike Race Max seems to have it all. I bought it to deliver before Christmas, but it delivered a few days after. I don't blame them due to the storm and also busy holiday schedule, although I did pay about $70 for the delivery. When I opened the package, everything is packaged very well. The only a handful of things to install: 1. the front wheel, the seat, the handle bars, and the pedals. It is very similar to a regular bike. one thing that stood out is there aren't many wires sticking out. many of the wire that drives the bike are hidden within the frames. That is pretty impressive. Another thing is the bike is quite heavy. It would be difficult to carry it up stairs or try to hang it on bike hangers. It feels like 50 lbs. Assembly was straight forward, but I did struggled with the front wheel until I realized the needed part was in a sealed box. The instructions seems to miss the front wheel assembly. Other than that, everything was just common sense. After I got everything assembled, I proceed to adjusted the breaks so the disc wont' be rubbing on the breaks. I read Amazon reviews that this is almost an impossible task to keep the break disc from rubbing on the breaks. I hate the noise when the breaks rubs, it really drive me insane. To my surprise, it took me just about 2 minutes for each wheel to get them spinning freely without rubbing on the breaks. I tested the breaks and found they do have good stopping power, but unlike my other high end regular bikes, the breaks doesn't stop on a dime, and worst of all, makes sound when you break. When I turn on the main switch on the bike, the headlights came on, but the bike is still off with display darkened. It took me 10 minutes to realized that you have to hold press the middle display button to enable it. So you have to turn on the power, then turn on the bike. That was not obvious. To be fair, that was in the instructions, but I figured it out before going through the instructions. I tested the bike riding it for a few blocks. The bike has good power. Setting on 1, will give you a boost or assist while you peddle, it feels like riding a regular bike, you can still put up a sweat. Setting 2 will give you more power and without peddling. Setting 3 will accelerate real fast and move up any hill like it isn't there. I still haven't test the range of the bike, but I am not a full time reviewer, I will just ride it to work back and forth and update this review later. I do agree with others who purchased the bike the seat is oddly uncomfortable and not suitable for long rides. That isn't a problem for me, I can just change it out. All and all, not the perfect bike. It is heavy, uncomfortable seat, and breaks aren't as responsive and makes noise. There are much benefit to this bike: It is very affordable; it doesn't have wires hanging all over place. It works out of the box, It looks nice, and it is easy to assemble. I will give it a 5 stars for now. ... show more

  • My First E-bike purchase
Color: Black Style: Standard
**EDIT UPDATE** from 3 to 5 stars 807 Miles Driven (Delivered & Assembled 9/28/2024) Repairs & Costs: Repairs so far: 2 new tires, tubes, liners, brake adjustments, derailleur adjustments Total repair cost: $260+ My Riding Experience: My main goal in purchasing the Heybike Race Max was to have an e-bike that could truly be ridden as a regular bike. I joke that I wanted a "heavy bike with a free Uber ride home"—something that I could pedal without motor assistance and still rely on the motor when crossing intersections, dealing with traffic, or when I was too tired or injured to keep going. After 807 miles, despite the need for some repairs, this bike has proven itself capable of meeting that goal. It functions well as a traditional bike without the motor, and having the motor for backup has been incredibly useful on longer rides. Performance Overview: Max motor-only speed: 26.5 mph on flat, straight surfaces Battery range (12.5 AH): Motor-only (mostly flat city terrain): ~24 miles Pedal Assist (PAS): 66.9 miles with 2 bars remaining (1 yellow, 1 red) Total weight of everything including bike, gear, and rider: 252-256 lbs Top downhill speed: 35 mph Customization & Features: Settings: Easily customizable to unlock certain restrictions or adjust tire sizes. Best upgrade: Switching from 3 to 5 PAS levels. It doesn’t increase speed but offers more flexibility in setting "cruise control" speeds. Customer Service: Response time: Quick, but follow-through is lacking. I reported a front wheel issue and rubbing brakes, and after sending videos and photos, they promised to send a replacement wheel. However, they haven’t followed up yet. I’ll update this review if they deliver on that or help improve upon the quality issues I've experienced because they really are what are driving down the stars.***Edit 10/25 they pulled thru and made the situation right. I still wish a few things were built / setup better but overall for the price point and for a first time e-bike rider looking for something specific i described above this met all the goals. Today I rode over 70 miles without turning the motor on once, so I could have gone another 25-50 miles if I had wanted to utilizing the motor.*** Spare Parts: Spare parts issue: Ordering replacement parts like batteries isn’t straightforward. I was told to add random items to my cart until I hit $150, which doesn’t seem like a secure or reliable process. Cons: Brakes: Despite adjustments, the brakes still rub, and neither wheel is true. The stopping power isn’t great, and once you’ve experienced hydraulic brakes on an e-bike, it’s hard to go back. On steep hills, the bike gained speed quickly, and the brakes became less effective, especially the front. Miscellaneous noises: There’s occasional rattling, particularly from the battery. It doesn’t feel securely mounted, so I’ve had to use bungee cords and my bike lock to keep it from shaking. Suspension: The front suspension is poor, even on flat terrain. My old Walmart bike had better suspension, and when I test-drove a $1,500 e-bike with the suspension off, it still felt smoother than this bike with the suspension on. Build quality: The overall build quality is lacking, and there are no fenders. I wouldn’t recommend riding in the rain or in wet environments. Shifter/Gears: More gears would have been helpful. At speeds over 20 mph, the drivetrain doesn’t offer much benefit. Tires & Tubes: Stock items were very poor quality. I replaced the rear tire around the 280 mile mark when both the tubes had repeatedly gone flat and could no longer be patched. Others indicated in the reviews they were given replacements I was not as fortunate. Pros: Speed & Range: For the price, the bike delivers decent speed and range, which suits my long-distance riding goals. LCD Screen: The screen is simple but bright enough for daylight use. Speedometer Accuracy: The speedometer has been accurate in my tests using GPS and radar. For example, the bike’s speedometer showed 20 mph when I passed a traffic radar detector, and my GPS read around 20.8 mph. Shifter: When properly adjusted, the shifter works well. With practice, it shifts smoothly. Pedal-Only Riding: The bike rides like a regular bike without motor assistance, which is exactly what I wanted—perfect for when I want a workout or need to conserve battery. Easy to Customize: Adding accessories, rear racks, or mounts is simple, thanks to the pre-drilled holes. Standard bike accessories fit easily. Final Thoughts: The core e-bike components—battery, motor, controller, and screen—work well for the price. The bike’s ability to function as a traditional bike without motor assistance has met my primary goal. However, the build quality of the frame and components could be better. If this kit had been paired with a slightly better-quality bike, it would be a no-regrets purchase. For those with some mechanical knowledge and patience, you might be better off purchasing a high-quality bike and adding an e-bike kit. But for those looking for decent speed, range, and affordability, this bike can still be a good fit. I’ve ridden thousands of miles on my HeyBike Race Max, and it’s proven to be a durable bike as long as you take care of it. Maintenance is fairly easy, and when I can’t handle something myself, my local shop fixes it for a reasonable price. The power is still just as strong as when I first bought it, which is great. I’ve also interacted with HeyBike’s support recently, and they were responsive and helpful. I’ve recommended this bike to others and seen them around. ... show more
