Description

The Herm Sprenger Chrome Plated Steel Prong collar is one of the most recognizable and popular names in obedience training tools. A safe and effective alternative to choker collars, it puts even pressure around the neck, about every half inch, pinching the skin in a band. This collar does not apply direct pressure to the trachea, so you can train your dog with little or no tugging, jerking, or pulling. The addition of a center plate connector allows the middle link to be configured symmetrically, enabling the prongs to tighten in the same direction. Made of high quality German steel, The size of this collar can be adjusted by adding or removing the links individually. Features: interlocking links, each link equipped with two blunt prongs slips over dog's head for easy on, easy off slightly beveled prong tips easy to increase or decrease in size. Links sold separately. These collars come in four sizes Small 2.25mm x 16”, Medium 3mm x 22”, 3.2mm x 23” and 4.0mm x 25”. Sizing instructions: collar should fit snuggly just below the dog's ears. Please note: not recommended for light color dogs.

I have a 2 yr old German Shepard mix, with the guidance of our trainer, I bought this collar. I will say, it is great! It's super durable, you're able to slightly adjust the circumference of it, and it's low profile. It is a slight pain to get on and off, but you're able to get a quick release from Herm Springer and I would definitely recommend getting that if you plan to use this regularly for any training. As far as the actual training goes, DO YOUR RESEARCH OR GET A TRAINER! If not used properly this collar can and will cause damage to your dog's neck. Know where to place it on the neck, and know not to pull to tightly on it when correcting behavior. When used properly it is a great training tool, but it shouldn't be your only tool. We have been using this for about a year now for various reasons, and he now associates it with going on walks (gets SUPER excited when he hears it lol), after correctly sizing it, I can confidently say I believe this will last for a long while. I would definitely recommend it, as long as you know how to use it. ... show more
