Herm Sprenger is one of the most recognizable names in dog training. This dog collar is secure and effective. The center quick release ClicLock buckle makes it possible to quickly put on and take off the dog collar while retaining a strong and secure locking mechanism while in use. You don't need to use a lot of pulling, jerking, or tugging to train your dog. Symmetrical links and martingale chain assembly allow the collar to tighten in a circular direction to provide smooth and even corrective pressure when applied. A solid fastener quick release buckle that provides a secure connection makes the fastening of the collar around your dog's neck easier and safer. Each interlocking link is equipped with two expertly machined and slightly beveled points. When used properly, it is safe and does not cause pain. Our 54lb 14 month old Goldendoodle was a strong puller, even for my husband. I tried many different collars and was hesitant to try a prong, mainly because I did not understand how to properly fit them and how they worked. Our trainer recommended the prong (after my many collar purchases to try & avoid a prong). In diligently doing my research I chose the Herm Sprenger. Be very selective on quality, don’t be cheap, learn how to properly fit & handle your dog with one. I was concerned about how they work and watched a lot of videos on proper fit & use along with our trainer. This was a game changer, she is doing great! This is a training tool and will not be a forever collar. This tool helps teach her to understand what the pressure means when she pulls on leash. She does great with it, it is comfortable for her and when properly fitted will not slide down, around or be near the dogs trachea area. Your dog will learn to walk loose leash and they will self correct with gentle pressure NOT choking. You DO NOT pull on your dog they will self correct. We got the quick release for easy on off, 2.25 cm prongs, stainless steel and size small worked wonderful on her. MUST be fitted behind ears & jawline not where normal collars ride. We also bought a back up attachment to attach to her regular collar or harness in case prong collar released so you do not loose your dog. Watch for the real Herm Sprenger made in Germany prongs are nicely rounded and smooth unlike sharp after market. The Herm Sprenger is more expensive but so worth it! Love this collar, due to my ignorance I got the 3.2 mm instead of the 2.25 mm with extra links so I had to remove all but 6 links to fit my doberman properly. Even with only 6 links it works perfectly and it's so heavy I feel safer about it not coming apart and risking losing my rescue while he learns where home is and to come when called. He has learned very quickly with some training not to pull on the collar when we go for walks with some training and the buckle is wonderful! I left the safety piece on after reading reviews and it's very easy to use, I was worried that I would struggle with taking the collar off or on since my fingers can be very sensitive due to a health problem, but I've never had an issue getting it on or off even while I'm being careful not to snag his hair in the process. I saw some other prong collars in the pet store and the quality difference was shocking, I'd never use one of those for fear they'd snap since they felt so flimsy and had no buckle. ... show more

I have a long hair gsd. This is a very good prong collar, it would have been great except my gsd has long hair and this was very difficult to click it under his chin. I'm used to my other herms springer prong collar which attaches at the back of the head. I returned this and got my refund money back to my account fast and I'm going to try the other one that has the clip in the back. ... show more

Unbelievable instant improvement. My 5 year old 68 lb. mixed breed Great Dane, Great Pyrenees, bulldog pulled like a draft horse before using this collar. Instant transformation the first time I put it on her. If she starts to pull, it gives her a little pinch and she immediately stops pulling. Our walks went from torture to pleasure immediately. Only put it on for walks and take it off after walk. I was at a friends house and left it on. She was scratching her neck with hind leg and caught her dew claw in the collar. I quickly got it free but could have been really bad if she would have been alone. Don’t hesitate to buy it. Best $60 I’ve spent.
