Plugging into the front with a power supply seems pretty dumb, and buying a led driver seems almost equally dumb. Hate if you want but attached is how I modified the supplied transformer to work hardwired in the wall. If it’s stupid and it works it ain’t stupid. However I really like the idea and I’m happy this existed as an option to put a cheap radio in my shower so I can be even more cracked out on entertainment than we already are now. ... show more

    • Well, I loved it, and still love the idea, but after about a month of use, it gave up the ghost.
This is a very interesting product and when I initially set it up, I was thrilled with its performance, fit and finish, the price, and was showing it off in combination with the two Dayton Audio Exciters that powered with it. I replaced a cheapo bluetooth amplifier that had a few short-comings with this, in order to get the addtional features, connection options, and extend the bluetooth range, and have that all available in a standard wall outlet, instead of hiding the bluetooth board somewhere. Well, it delivered. 25 ft of bluetooth range, crystal clear sound with the dayton speakers, the added connectivity and usb outlet were all perfect..... except for one thing.... the speaker connectors were kind of a tight fit, and oddly placed, so I placed the whole thing in a 2-gang box which I figured would give the whole thing more room to breathe anyway, and added a switch for a recessessed LED light in the other space... I was happy as could be. In fact, I kept showing it off to people and everyone was amazed. I am doing a cargo trailer to travel trailer conversion and this 30 dollar Bluetooth Amp/receiver, and the 30 dollars in Dayton audio exciters were by far the most well-liked aspect of the build. Well, I am not sure what happened, but I no longer get the amplified output to the speakers, although everything else appears to work... Well, unfortunately, the amplifier was the most imprortant part for my application, so I just hooked my 9 dollar bluetooth amplifier back up, and thought about ordering another one, because it was great when it worked....but, the price was raised to 40 dollars, from 30, so I decided not to purchase another one. I should point out, that I didn't contact support or try to return the product, in that it was just outside of the return timeline when it quit working. I am torn on how many stars to give it, because when I got it, it was one of my all-time favorite purchases EVER. I played that thing day and night, and I'm sure that the amp running constantlly and tight spacing of the speaker connectors and board for a standard outlet box made the amp fail prematurely as compared to the other bluetooth amps that I have used. I am giving it 2 stars, because it might need some more room and/or heat dissipation in the design, but I want to give it more stars for its performance when it was working well. If you install it inside a house in a 2-gang outlet box, and don't run it more than 4 or 5 hours a day, then you probably will have an awesome little stereo with this...and a couple of speakers..... I thought long and hard about trying another one, and decided to stick with what I have that works.... and in fact, the 10 dollar increase in price was a big factor in not buying another. There is something about a 30 dollar buy, that you don't worry too much about it when it breaks.....if I bought a new one I would be 70 dollars in, and worried that it would break anytime, so, there you go..... this is a 5-star idea, and they almost got there with the implementation..... consider this a 2.5 star rating, and good luck with this if you decided to get one.... ... show more

    • Not that bad
This produces pretty good audio. It powers a set of old bookshelf speakers I have and it sounds really clear. I'm impressed that so few watts gives a pretty loud and clear output from the speakers A few things: 1. There is no manual and the instructions in the box are light and sometimes wrong. Example, "Press and Hold the Volume Knob for more than 3 Seconds" The knob is a 'turn to switch on' and it does not depress. It doesn't answer things like which set of screws are right or left to attach the speakers and the board and connectors are labeled + and - but not R or L. 2 You can charge a device connected to the USB but only when the switch is on 3. The bluetooth can connect to one device at a time. If my wife and I both have a phone with bluetooth, if mine auto connects, she is locked out. She couldn't pair until I realized that even though my phone was in my pocket, it apparently auto paired. 4. There is a 1.5KHz hum in my unit when it is connected but not playing anything. It is not loud but it's there. It is a pure tone on my frequency analyzer. 5. There were no screws to connect the unit to the box. There were screws for the cover but not to attach the unit to the wall box. For the price, it can be made to work and work acceptably. It will require more than average skills to connect it. ... show more

Comes with quite a few benefits and connection options. nice rear power and aux alternates, aux is split to the 3 wires not a jack if installed in back, power split to 2 wires in back and still DC.

    • Great sound.
This amp puts out great sound and has cool features. I have installed this in five rooms in my house, along with Pyle ceiling speakers. I have also installed the same setup in three of my friends' houses. The amp, speakers, and speaker wire can all be bought for about $100.

    • Source Switching
This is a great unit for the money! I just wish it was smoother and faster when switching from one source to another. I found it best to turn the unit off, then select source and turn it back on. And I don't like that the DC conn. is mounted on the front face plate where it could easily be disconnected or even damaged. Other than that, it sounds good and clean and has just enough power for my small covered patio! I was pleasantly surprised with the all around quality and features this unit has! I will purchase more Herdio products in the future! ... show more

    • Works really well
My only two complaints are, one the screws did not lineup with the preexisting box on my wall, and two, the darn LEDs are too bright. Functionality is great.
