We absolutely loves this knife set and the storage block. These were actually purchased after using our friends set while visiting them :) Sharp, not too heavy to handle. We only hand wash our knives so no rust in the year plus that we have had them.

I purchased the 20 piece set in July 2024, but waited until December 2024 to write this review to give the knives an honest evaluation to prove their claimed worthiness. First, the good part. The handles are mostly comfortable to hold and have a nice modern appearance. The knives and wooden block have a nice professional look (but looks don’t equal performance). Now for the bad. None of the non-serrated knives were very sharp when they arrived. After trying to cut various food items (i.e., Roma tomatoes, unpeeled English cucumbers, boneless pork tenderloin, oranges, and apples) on a bamboo cutting board, every knife required sharpening. Once the knives were sharpened to cut properly, as a good quality knife should, I noticed the knives needed to be honed, or re-sharpened, after every use (mostly used to cut up salad fixings or vegetables), even though a quality bamboo cutting board was always used and the knives were hand washed and dried after each usage. Bottom line is the knives just do not hold an edge. After six months of trying these knives, I unpacked my 20 year old “Kansas City” wooden handle knives which hold an edge for days between honings, and boxed these knives up and put them away on a shelf in the garage. I used the same bamboo cutting board I have used for years and never had knives loose their edge as quickly as these knives. These knives are a complete disappointment and it is a disgrace to claim they are German in any manner. The knives may be German design, but are clearly Chinese made. I would highly discourage anyone from buying this brand knives if you want knives that actually hold a sharp edge and perform as expected for the price of these knives. I knew I was keeping these knives beyond the return period because I wanted them to work, but when I could not even slice a firm Roma tomato without mashing it, if the knives were not honed every time, I knew the knives were sub-standard quality. Great knives for the price. Really like the block, well made. I've had Henckels before, they do the job, and the 20-piece set gives you alot of options. Go ahead and price a 20-piece set with the New York company that makes a set similar to the Henckels. They sell for over $2000 at the American company. Thanks again to Amazon! ... show more
