Description

Fender, a leader in instrument manufacturing, started designing, manufacturing and evolving musical instruments in 1946. Since, Fender amplifiers have and continue to be an integral part of modern music. The late-'50s tweed-covered Fender Bass man is often called "the grandfather of all amps." It is beloved by guitarists worldwide for its simplicity, versatility, dynamic range, warm tube overdrive, stage-filling power and rugged roadworthiness. Bass breaker series guitar amplifiers continue Fender's storied lineage with a kind of "parallel evolution" that evokes the dawn of hard rock. Bass breaker takes the original Bass man design and breaks away with features including dark gray lacquered tweed covering, refined pointer knobs and unique circuitry plus power tubes and speakers hinting at the U.K. amps that "borrowed" Fender circuits in the 1960s. An additional feature that everyone will appreciate is that this amp allows the output volume to go from a whisper to scream while the preamp volume can be at any setting. If pushing the preamp tubes is important to your tone but the actual volume is causing issues with your neighbors, this feature will be important. The sound is one of pure tube greatness. The Bass breaker 45 Combo is the 45-watt flagship model that leads a first-rate lineup of lower-wattage models, all with pro-level tone and performance for today's rock players. (Cover included)

  • Sturdy rigid amp, not the typical Fender bright sound ....
Positives: Great sounds, also the Gain, overdrive has a great sound. Sturdy Amp, reliable. Do your studying well in advance; it does not have the characteristic clear bright sound you maybe expect from the Fender Twin reverb etc. Real minus point: The Amp is noisy with the reverb on. Turn it off and use an external reverb. ... show more

  • Perfect Amp for Home & Small Gigs
Size: 7 watt Color: Gray Tweed Configuration: Amp Only
After taking the risk of trying an amp that has not been extensively tested or reviewed, I have to say that I feel like Fender made the amp I have been looking for. This amp boasts rich, full low end, an especially pronounced midrange, and a subdued treble that can be supplemented with the included treble boost switch. Although the distortion on this amplifier is creamy and delightful, its clean tone is warm and smooth; moreover, it sounds great at both low and high volumes, making it quite diverse. You won't hear the hyper-cleans you would pull from, say, a Deluxe Reverb, yet this amp boasts dirty sounds the Deluxe Reverb would struggle to replicate. In short, although I would never play country on this amp, the Jazz, Rock, and Blues sounds available are absolutely stunning. In spite of a glaring lack of reverb at the price point, it's the best amp I could have imagined for home-playing and small gigs. ... show more

  • Thickness? Yes yes. Very thick.
Size: 7 watt Color: Gray Tweed Configuration: Amp Only
Great amp. Had the Bugera v5, gave that to my nephew (just so I had an excuse to buy a new amp, of course). Liked the Bugera, love the Bassbreaker. The sound from the Bassbreaker is huge compared to the Bugera. Must be the 10IN speaker. This really reminds me of my old Blues Deluxe, but that thing is way too loud. This guy gets a nice rowdy sound at reasonable volume, but would totally keep up with a drummer. The mid boost is great too. It's so good I might actually get the foot switch. Also, the Bugera had a lot of odd noise coming through, Fender is pretty quiet, even with my noisy Yazzmaster. No effects loop, but it takes pedals really well. I don't use anything too crazy though. Anyway, very happy. ... show more

  • Great Amp for Distortion
Size: 15 watt Color: Gray Tweed Configuration: Amp Only
This amp has fantistic distorted tones at reasonable volumes. i can get anything from classic rock with a Les Paul to really heavy tones with EMG pickups. I have gigged with this amp in a small venue playing classic rock and it's perfect for that. My effects loop works fine. The EQ section actually has a dramatic effect on the tone so it may take you a few days to get everything dialed in. I have found my tubescreamer really works with this amp for leads. Despite my 5 star rating, the biggest shortcoming of this amp is the lack of 2 channels which is a bit of a pain when gigging. The 3 gain structures also have dramatically different volumes, so if you want to switch back and forth while gigging you are going to have to adjust the master volume as well. There way be a creative way to get around this with a volume pedal. There are other blues breakers that have two channels, but it's my understanding that they don't have the gain structure of the 15 watt version or reverb. ... show more

  • Perfect recording amp that keeps blowing tubes
Size: 7 watt Color: Gray Tweed Configuration: Amp Only
This is one of the most fantastic sounding amps I've ever played and it's a permanent fixture in my home studio. The class A tone is clear, warm, and has a lot character that simply can't be digitally emulated. I stick an SM57 mic at the cab and get effortless recording bliss all day long in ANY style from country to metal. At 7 watts, it can get pretty loud but It's not loud enough for gigging and doesn't have enough clean headroom if you have to crank the master volume. It takes pedals really well, and I have had great results with stacking OD pedals while setting the amp's gain about midway. Some drawbacks: I really wish it had built-in reverb and/or an effects loop, but since I use mainly for recording, it's no big deal since I usually add bus effects anyway. The "line out" is essentially useless because it just sounds *so bad*. Apparently that line out is supposed to have a built-in cab emulator but it sounds nothing like an actual cab and has nothing even resembling an impulse response that I can tell. Also, in the five years I've owned it, it has blown at least three EL84 power tubes despite using it at very low volume and only occasionally gigging with it. The 12AX7 preamp tubes are still the originals and are chugging along nicely. If this thing were stolen, lost, or otherwise unrepairable, I wouldn't buy another, but I would replace it with a Blues Junior or similar. Small Fender tube amps are simply the best. ... show more

Great Marshall-y tone. One star off for no reverb. But I knew that going in so...

  • Not worth the gamble for me
Size: 15 watt Color: Gray Tweed Configuration: Amp Only
i really liked the sound of this thing, but its a gamble whether you get one that works right. I bought a used one, then a day later when I turn the reverb up it starts getting static. Search google / youtube its a pretty common problem. Fender rep acknowledged it was common as well. So then I returned the used one and bought a new one hoping it did not have any issues and I would have a warrenty if it did. The reverb problem was not as bad but still there on the new one. One of the screws on the side was just loose in the box. Cant trust someone with something small how can you trust them with something big? Also I think one of the preamp tubes was probably bad because at high master volume on the hi gain switch it crackles. Anyway the sound isnt worth all the hastle I went through. Also the early models had a lot of buzz on the effects loop but newer on should have one of the effects jack coated in some sort of black plastic to prevent this. Did not test so cant comment? If you got one that did not have any of these problems consider yourself lucky. 3/4 of the ones I have played had the reverb thing. Not really an issue on stage I guess but in a small room annoying for sure. ... show more
