Absolute junk. Don't buy. These are supposed to quality knives for a home chef. As a pro chef, I purchased these for my son's first apartment. He is proficient in his knife skills this should have never happened. What junk. I would have given it a zero rating if possible. Lucky he didn't get cut. What was he cutting? Surimi. Don't waste your money. These are full, you have to saw through every item you try to cut, and while they feel good and have a good weight and look nice, that's about all they have going for them. They can't be sharpened because they are all serrated- even the chefs knife. Total waste of my money. I kept thinking I was spoiled by my gorgeous Pampered Chef knives that weren't in a set, but no. These were just crap. I finally replaced them with a Cuisinart set that was about $15 more and so much higher quality. ... show more

Very disappointed in this purchase. Henckels knives came highly recommended to me, so i decided to purchase some for my new home. Since I was moving, I packed these away when I got them and only recently got moved, I was so excited to use my new knives, but they are crap. They don't chop well at all, feel very dull, but since they have a serrated type edge they cannot be easily sharpened. I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money, now I'm out more money for new knives ... show more

I didn't realize that these knives were serrated, I wish that was disclosed. These knives were so cheap that I decided to just give them a shot and months later, I find myself trying to avoid them. If you're looking for a serrated knife, this could be a good purchase for you. For the Company selling these, I'd seriously recommend highlighting the fact that these are serrated knives. ... show more

The WORST knives ever made! You cannot cut anything at all with any of these knives. Who makes a knife set with all dull, serrated knives? That doesn’t even make sense! I have tried and tried to give these knives a chance, but NOPE! Anyone who has been to my house and tried to use one has commented on how completely terrible and useless they are as well. These knives are honestly terrible and damaged my respect for Henckels' design and quality. I have used many Henckels knives and up until ordering this set had no issues with any of them. However these knives are all serrated and about useless for most cutting. They will not cut through anything without sawing and the raised sections between the teeth prevent them from cutting all the way through. They are also very thick to which makes it difficult to cut through anything. On a positive note, I guess the handles are fairly comfortable to grip and the knives and block do look nice. Also, the steak knives aren't bad and do a fine job of cutting meat and such. ... show more

"Micro-serrated edge never needs sharpening"..... The one line on the product page that I missed, that made all the difference. The price of these knives is great. They are also Henckels so the quality of the steel and the balance is terrific as well. But this Micro-serrated edge.......killing me!!! There are few times that I want to use something serrated, it has its place, but this micro-serrated business, shreds about everything. If you have to cut a million pounds of tomatoes...the best knives............... Attempt to carve a bird, or slice beef though.......kiss your hard work cooking goodbye. Just try using a micro-serrated chefs knife. Its not a fun experience. I would recommend going into ANY brick and mortar store that sells knives and demo them before buying online. Or if you insist on being like me and blind buying a whole knife set, make sure you read ALL the features. I needed a good multipurpose general knife set and this did not fit the need. I had to go and buy a few non-serrated chefs knives just to get by. ... show more

    • Dull Enough to Cut Your Finger Off

I just received these, and having harvested a bunch of carrots from my garden I was excited to chop them up and freeze them. First cut was horrible. Second cut barely went through the carrot. So I got out my old knives (a few of which are missing from years of gatherings and who knows what happened). Old knives (same company BTW) went through the carrot like butter. These are just so thick and so crappy they can't cut. I couldn't dice a thing with these, and if I tried to cut at my normal knife cutting speed I would be sure to slice my fingers. And since they are serrated, you can fix the sharpness. Really disappointing. Save your money and buy a better set. ... show more
