I've had them for more than 6 months now. They are very nice knives and I love them! I'm so happy I bought these. You do need to consciously make sure the knives slide across the sharpener when you put them in or take them out. The instructions say that you should not push them down but it's easy to put them in the slots where they won't touch the sharpener. So just make sure they are in contact with the sharpener. There are a couple of knives that are my favorites. The Santoku knife is the best for chopping vegetables. It stays very sharp and I wonder why I never had one of these before. The Utility knife and Prep knives are the ones I use the most. I'm now at 20 months and I have to say that some knives kept sharper than others. In particular, the 5.5 utility knife (which I loved) really doesn't sharpen. It could have cut anything when new but now.....it's not sharp. It's kind of useless. You definitely cannot cut tomatoes but it also doesn't cut much of anything well. I contacted Henckel and this is what they had to say: "Our self-sharpening knife blocks are designed to help maintain the sharpness of your knives through regular use. However, it's important to note that while the built-in sharpening slots help keep the blades honed between uses, they do not completely replace the need for occasional professional sharpening, especially with frequent or heavy use." I think the sharpening slot isn't aligned well but there's nothing to be done about it other than use a sharpener or pay someone to do it. ... show more

The Henkke 20-piece set is all you will ever need and has all sizes for every occasion. Love this set and especially since they are the self-sharpening set that is fantastic and as dad would say it is always easier when you have the right tool even in the kitchen that is so true to have the right knife when cutting meat or vegetables that makes it a breeze not having to struggle when knives cut with ease.     • WARRANTY issues - cannot get replacements for defected knifes with OFF-WHITE handles
Purchased set of self sharpening knifes with OFF- WHITE handles (paid extra for the WHITE versus black ). This was a Christmas gift for myself. Knifes are beautiful, sharp and look very nice on my counter top. Bit disappointed that they were made in China (engraved in the metal part) but regardless.. I was a happy user until I started having WARRANTY issues. 1/ My parring knife discolored after peeling a mango (turned yellow) 2/ Noticed cracks in handles of (4) knifes Knifes are advertised with the Lifetime Warranty - I reached out to Amazon who directed me to the Manufacturer. And here problem begins ... Manufacturer does not carry stock of knifes with white handles - apparently white handle knifes were made specially for Amazon. Manufacturer does have any replacements in stock - neither they could not tell me if they have them on order. So far , for requested replacement of (4) knifes I received (1) knife , the other knife was sent with black handle (explanation was that what we have in stock ). The customer service suggested me that maybe I should use another knife for peeling colorful veggies and fruit.. mind you those are utility knifes. I called and emailed customer service and there is no resolution - they do not have white handle knifes in stock, they do not know when they will have them.. They offered to send me replacements in black (what am I supposed to do with the black knifes if my set is white) This was a big purchase for me - paid extra for esthetics - to have handles in white . why product is being sold at all if there is no plan for replacements. I am so disappointed - Customer service representatives are very nice and polite but there is absolutely no resolution to the warranty issue. Just wanted to caution everyone - think before buying knifes with WHITE handles. ... show more
