    • Great little unit, but notice that the mount can only be placed sideways...
Unit is great. Arms are stiff so that they stay in place, but not so stiff that they can't be easily manipulated. USB light is nice and bright, with multiple intensity settings *and* can be switched from warm to cool color temp or a combination of the two. My only complaint is that the mount can only be place sideways. Look at the pics and you'll see what I mean. They even have it kinda angled on the pic that shows it mounted on the bench. Makes it awkward if you aren't mounting it on the end with the unit turned 90 degrees from you as the arms are different lengths if you turn it sideways to mount it directly to the bench edge in front of you. I ended up drilling a new hole in the mount, cross-axially from the existing hole so that I could mount it either on the end of the bench or directly in front of me. Worked like a charm. I'm assuming anyone buying this is handy enough (since handy projects is what it's for) to be able to perform a similar mod on the mount. Just would be nice if it came with both directions already in place. ... show more

I started on one of the old-fashioned, two jaw with a magnifier and weighted base setups that everyone starts on. You know, the one that looks like a little dude. Then graduated to one with two multi-articulated arms, similar to the arms on this one, and a magnetic base. It's great for quick soldering work on a vehicle, because the magnetic base lets me attach it almost anywhere on the car. This thing, though... For bench work, accept no substitute! At $25 it's a great price, you get four arms to hold your work pieces, it comes with spare clamps in case you lose or break one, and the light that comes with it cycles between 3 different color temperatures and a bunch of different brightness levels! Love it!! Super helpful & articulate! 1st sipment was missing Clamp & Clips, But that was quickly rectified by the Srvice center! And Super Fast!! THanks! Sent A brnad new one the next Day! Love the lighted Magnifier & mobility of the arms with out being cumbersome! had the old fashion version that just Didn't Quite manuver enough. This thing can just about do anything. The arms and the LED lamp were good.... the beads are still a little stiff....the big disappointment are the flimsy alligator clips.... they have very little clamping power....plus two bent and broke when i adjusted one of the arms. replaced them with quality clips and it's much better now. They need to use stronger and better clips. If you buy one of these, just know your purchase is not done. ... show more
