The monitor has a great range and sound quality. I can take the monitor downstairs and hear the baby perfectly when he makes a peep. The colored lights that associate the intensity of the noise helps me understand if I need to run to attention or if I need to wait it out to see if the baby can self sooth. The value of the monitor is great. I'm not worried about dropping the parent unit as it is durable, and even if it broke, I would not break the bank to replace. I returned a more expensive monitor that cost $160 because I know that I will eventually drop the parent unit. The range and sound quality of this monitor is actually much better than the $160 monitor. Two downsides of this monitor: 1) you have to replace the battery 2) the parent unit doesn't stand on it's own. This means if you you are not seated looking down at the unit you need to pick it up to see the colored lights that are associated with intensity of sound ... show more

Great little portable and reliable speaker! When baby was small, I could walk outside with confidence to do some yard work or play with out toddler. We used rechargeable AA batteries so we didn’t waste batteries. It is a reliable speaker that we use much more than the mounted video linked to our phones because that tends to glitch out. But we can count on this little speaker to work. I was hesitant to purchase because of the review that said it caught fire. I bought this model to replace my previous vtech monitor. I was excited after reading all the reviews about how the parent unit had a walker talkie like feature that you could talk to baby through the parent unit. This model was more money then the vtech I was just going to reorder another of but since this model had the parent microphone I decided to splurge a little more and buy this one as that feature would come in handy. I got my order in today and this does not in fact have a parent speaker 😢 it is a nice convenient small size. I like how it lays flat on the dresser and doesn’t take up a lot of room. The lights don’t look like they will be annoyingly bright in the middle of the night either. The units have a rubber gripper on he bottoms so maybe it won’t fall behind the dresser like my old model would. The sound quality seems great. I wanted a simple-to-use monitor to use once my little one started sleeping better in a room with a closed door. While I’m not super far away, I worried that she would cry for a while before I would hear her, especially if I was doing something noisier, like the dishes. This monitor is exactly what my husband and I were looking for. It's affordable and simple but still has very good sound quality (no static!). I keep the parent part plugged in by our bed and it's been so nice for peace of mind. It gave me the reassurance I needed to move her out of our room and into hers. It does pick up the ocean waves sound from her white noise machine, but I don't mind. I can still hear any little sound our daughter makes. You know the grunty complaints a baby makes before it's full-blown crying? I wanted to be able to catch her in those moments and feed her in the night before she was wide awake and upset. Only works when plugged in-- doesnt work when batteries are installed. Also doesn't play music so not sure why some of the reviews mention that. Sound is ok, not great. Edit: I got rechargeable AAA batteries, and now it works. Still doesn't play music though. Edit 2: rechargeable batteries only sometimes work. Also picks up on ceiling fan hum which is fine but sort of annoying but we can't have everything can we? ... show more

I am very pleased with this product. I wanted to use it for an unusual purpose: to transmit music from the TV in my bedroom to my office. I put the baby speaker by the TV parent speaker in my desk - Violé ! It is very small an unobtrusive! Smaller than I expected! But, boy, powerful! I have excellent sound quality for quiet instrumentals as well as more vibrant sounds. There is NO background noise, static, anything. Just sharp, crisp tones. And the volume is excellent. I have the TV volume quite low and the parent volume low as well. If it transmits the smooth low tones of an acoustic guitar crisply and clearly, I have No Doubt this item can readily pick up baby sounds from murmurs to cries.
