Of course, that means it gets beat-up by the weather. All standard bar-b-que covers I researched were black. How dumb is that? Those things absorb heat like a thirsty sponge, which is why I chose this WHITE tarp. The heat reflected by it is great, AND it cost a tenth of what most bar-b-que covers cost. This product was a replacement for a carport cover that came with an original cover that didn't last. This tarp is sturdy and doesn't hold water at the edges and survived Hurricane IDA without any damage whatsoever. The grommets are solid and I tied rope in the grommets to pull very tight and it is a solid tarp and I highly recommend this product. It looks like to be 12mil but sure feels like thinner than my 9mils from another vendor. Also, my only complaint and luckily I didn't predrilled my hooks as the grommets are NOT 18in apart. They are random from 18 to 22in. So, I just hooked one then marked the next grommet, drilled a hole, etc.

This is a high quality tarp, heavy duty, plentiful grommets and sturdy looking hem and seams. Unfortunately, like so many tarps the size mentioned is misleading. The 9 x 12 is neither cut nor finished size but a combination of both. It is several inches shy of 10 feet wide and exactly 12 in length. So if you are trying to put this on a 10 x 10 canopy frame it will be too long to use ties or bungies. If you are looking for a shade sail or to cover something, it should be ideal.
