We found a dog so needed to fence in the open side of our house but didn't want to totally close it off-- so we made a gate! We're using this with a rolling gate door so while the door won't swing shut on it's own I do love that it will self lock when I push the gate shut. Highlights: -Easy to use -Well drilled holes -Hasn't rusted/ worn -Good quality finish Overall happy with it so far! The media could not be loaded. Versatile gate latch and hinges. The hinges are strong self-closers. I really like the latch system. You can get creative with different types of installation depending on your gate orientation. You can see from my video how it's working for my. The latch self secures and the spring is strong enough to hold but also easy enough to work with one hand. Absolute bargain compared to what you get at a big box home imrovement store. The build quality is excellent. Installation was simple and quick.

I used this kit to replace the hinges and latch for my small, lightweight gate. The hardware is plenty strong enough for my needs. I don't know if it will be strong enough to carry a large child, though; there are just 2 welds holding the gate on the hinge side. The latch auto-closes easily and does not bounce open. Auto-closing is pretty loud. The hinges and latch are manufactured differently. The hinges are higher quality and have a glossy finish. I was concerned that the welds on the hinge adjustment screws might be off, but they were perfectly aligned. PROBLEMS The spring was defective and was not attached. I used needle-nose pliers to fix the spring hook and attach it. The latch and keeper bar have a matte powder coated finish with several defects. They are definitely made from iron: any nick in the powder coating will hemorrhage rust. After a few weeks, I'm seeing rust stains in 4 places (see my pix). The included screws are short and finely threaded. They're OK for metal and hardwood, but I wouldn't use them for softwood or plastic. I ended up buying polymer-coated exterior wood screws; not too pretty, but they'll last for the life of the fence. The reversible latch feature has one problem: you may end up having to pull the lever up instead of pushing down to get what you want (I didn't want the lever protruding into the pathway and grabbing clothing). INSTALL TIPS 1) The gate hardware adds 1" altogether. Undercut your gate width by a minimum of 1-1/8" (I recommend more, especially if the gate is thick). 1) The hinges are adjustable after install and can accommodate a slight lean in the fence post. I recommend leaving extra room incase the posts lean in the years to come. 2) The screw holes on the latch plate are not staggered, so long screws will intersect. Drill pilot holes at a slight angle to prevent this. 3) To repair screw holes on an old post, you can drill out the hole, insert a glue-coated dowel of the same size as the drill bit and flush-cut the dowel with a hack saw blade held with a rag.

this worked perfectly for the gate to our pig pen. installation was a breeze and it feels super secure. it opens easy enough that our toddlers can both open and shut it on their own but thankfully animals can't just push their way through it as it latches well every time.

Most spring loaded hinges have one setting that's fixed. I really liked that you can adjust it so it suits the application. You can load the spring up to move heavier gates, or back it off so it doesn't slam the gate. The latch is great as well. Once the gate closes it is well secured. This kit is chaeper than the components sold separately, so for me this was a no brainer. Glad I picked it up.

I got this set for a 72"h x 45"w gate made of redwood. Though two hinges seem to support the gate, I bought another hinge set, so I could use one from it, for a total of three hinges. The gate I made "just" fit in the opening, because I was planning on using surface mount hinges and latch. But, I like this style of latch, and had to do some modifications to make it all work. In order to use these hinges, I had to reduce the width of my gate by 3/8" to accommodate the wrap around hinge plates. I also had to recess the latch into the post, since the mechanism is also very thick. The lag bolts are self tapping, appear to be made of stainless steel, and have aggressive threads, but are a little short for my taste. I did use most of them, but also supplemented with a few 2.5" bolts in strategic locations. I am satisfied with the quality and design of these. Hopefully they will last as long as the rest of the gate.
