You probably see a lot of boron hardened steel out there and it's good. Manganese alloy steel is just another type of hardening. I don't know the Manganese % ratio but traditionally it's a lot higher than the boron alloys before making steel too brittle. The chain is definately strong and well made. I inspected all the welds and found all to be good. This chain can lift any motor on your cherry picker say sbc/350 and below. But I haven't tested it on anything heavier. Lifting chains also make great security chains because of their hardness. I think any medium sized bolt cutter is going to have a really tough time getting through this. Hydraulic bolt cutters will get through though. It's a round chain instead of a square so that's a slight detractor for security chains but ever so slight. As for die cutter, angle grinder or torch, well, they're going through this no problem. So just know that's always a possiblity. BUT the one thing I think is not the best is the lock. It's easily defeated through several methods besides cutting. The shackle says hardened but that's about all the security you'll get. If you need a set up with a lock included, this is for you to buy. If you want the best set up, use a better lock with this chain and that will be about the best way to use the chain.

Honestly this is a pretty heavy duty chain, it’s of great quality and gives me peace of mind when it comes to the security of my EBike. It’s easy and functional. It is a little on the heavier side but it shows that it will take a little more getting into if someone even thought about taking whatever you have locked. I’m not sure about how it holds up in different weather as I usually ride when it’s nice but over all, it does what it’s suppose to. It will have some black transfer but there is a piece of paper explaining why that happens and what to do! I wish it was longer but I over all cannot complain.

I got this for the lock alone. And by itself it was well worth the effort. I needed a good lock for a cabinet that we have outside. It houses some fairly valuable stuff and we can't have any riff-raff getting into it. This lock feels like it could just about withstand a nuclear blast. It comes with five keys and they all work beautifully. The lock was smooth and easy to use. Very functional and very sturdy. The chain that came with it is a very thick chain and I don't think anybody would have an easy time cutting through it to steal your bike. But I haven't put it to the test. I just really needed the lock and it is wonderful. It's not a combination lock so don't lose the key because I don't know how you would ever get it off fortunately it comes with five keys.
