This immersion heater is exactly what it ought to be, and more. Frankly I'm amazed at how well it works. I originally bought it for a more appropriate purpose but didn't end up needing it so I tried it in my coffee mug. I'm sure it would be damaged if I left it on for 30 seconds, but by then the boiling coffee would hit the ceiling! I drop it in my mug, barely submerging the large coil section and nowhere near the min/max marks just below the handle, then I turn it on for maybe as long as 5 seconds. I don't even bother letting go of the switch. Within 2 seconds my coffee starts sizzling, and after a couple more seconds it's so hot I could spill it in my lap and go to the hospital! I've done this dozens of times so far and it's not broken yet. I was also surprised to find that it works just fine in my stainless steel carafe. I expected sparks, I expected fuses and breakers to pop, I expected the dang thing to burn out, but there was none of that, no drama, anticlimactic, it just plain works regardless of conductivity of the container! That said, I recommend avoiding such a risk in case I'm somehow wrong (or in case the product changes).

This was purchased for a camping road trip. My thought was hearing water for coffee or water for showers. This thing was amazing. It heated a 5 gallon bucket within a few minutes. One time I sort of forgot about it and I thought it could have boiled the water. It was very inexpensive and I was super glad to have it along. Used it slot and worked very well! Temp control is just turn it off. I did position the bucket and hand it from the outlet so the metal did not touch side of bucket. It got very hot very quick. Maybe something that when it’s hanging from side of bucket it can’t touch?! I loved it tho!!!

Bought this specifically for those hotels that lack an easy way to make hot water for coffee & tea. We use a tall, double-wall stainless bottle that allows this heater to fully immerse in the water. In less than 60 seconds, you can have very hot water for whatever. It's small, so easy to pack. We store it in a silicone sleeve, in case it's hot when we put it away, but that seems unnecessary as it cools rapidly due to the water remaining on the heater evaporating. Can it be dangerous? Sure. So can scissors and banana peels. Follow the common sense directions and enjoy the hot water.

It works as advertised. Would give it a 5-star if it has safety features. First, the power cord is too small for delivering that amount of power/wattage. The power cord heats up and could probably melt and cause fire if left on for too long. Don't worry though, it will boil a glass of water in like 30 seconds or less. Second, when you are finished with it... the element is still hot and can cause burns if not cooled of. The element is not protected from you, it's just exposed.

Worked well for about 40 times. It's powerful and I would give it 5 stars if it would work. Bummer. Immersion water heater seem to be a very simple "technology" and not sure why it would break after such little use.

This product is fantastic! It brings water to boil in under 45 seconds. I’ve found this and freeze dried coffee to be my new morning routine. I’ve only used it about 10 times but I see no signs of it wearing down. Only drawback I noticed is the length of the heater. You must use enough water to fill between the minimum and maximum water lines which seems to be about 30 oz. This means it’s too long to use in a coffee cup. I heat my water and then pour into coffee cup. Hey, don’t knock freeze dried/ instant coffee until you try it.
