To be honest, this is my first memory foam pad so I can't compare it. What I can say, is that it's very comfortable and seams well made. I have an electric adjustable bed with a 15 inch thick mattress and this pad stays firmly in place. So far, it's been great. Definitely would have no problem recommending it to family or friends. Since this is my 1st memory foam pad, I think I got lucky in choosing the 3 inch with my mattress thickness. 4 inches would have been too thick and work against the support of my mattress. Plus, I'd have trouble getting sheets to fit. 2 inches probably wouldn't of been thick enough for my needs. I think 3 inches was the Goldilocks for my set up. I have a cute metal daybed with a trundle that I purchased at a great price a couple of years ago from Wayfair. I use this in my spare bedroom as a guest room and room for grandchildren. I originally purchased the cheapest mattresses money can buy. They were 8 inch spring mattresses and they were fine for small children, but I sometimes nap in the room and it was very uncomfortable and I could feel every spring. I have a guest coming for a couple weeks and needed to spruce up at least one of these mattresses, without having to buy any new mattresses. I originally purchased a Pearlecare 3" memory foam mattress topper for $79.96. You can find the product here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LQ87YMC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details It was perfect. I took it out of the cover and let it puff up for a couple of days. I washed the cover and put it on the mattress. I covered the mattress and topper with a thin zippered mattress protector and purchased a fairly cheap quilted mattress topper to go on top of the whole thing. It was so plush and comfy that I had to purchase new deep pocket sheets. I needed deep pocket sheets for what was once an 8 inch mattress. Can you believe it? Anyway, it was really nice so I decided to do the same thing with the trundle bed. I didn't want to spend quite so much money on it, so I purchased this 3 inch topper and did the same thing to it. The only difference I find with this one and the Pearlecare is the cover. The cover on this one does still have the straps to hold it on the mattress, and I like the position of the straps on this cover better than on the Pearlecare, but I prefer the cover to the Pearlecare better because this one has some sort of rubbery textured bottom. I assume it is to grip it into place on the mattress, but the straps work well with that and with a mattress protector, quilted cover, and fitted sheet, it isn't going anywhere. I don't like the textured bottom because I don't think it will hold up to multiple washes like the Pearlecare will; however, this price was much cheaper and I clipped the $10 coupon so I only paid about $59 for this one compared to the $79 I paid for the Pearlecare. So, with that being said, this is an excellent deal and if I had it to do over again, I would still get this one due to price. With it inside of a mattress protector, beneath a quilted cover, with a fitted sheet on it, how often am I going to need to wash it, anyway? It covered the entire bed and works very well. I didn't measure it, but it does look to be about 3 inches and it really is comfortable, especially with the quilted mattress pad on top. Feels like a brand new mattress and I can no longer feel the springs. It is quite plush and you will sink into it a bit, so it is not really for those who like a harder mattress. ... show more

We followed the instructions of airing it out and to my surprise the horrible smell vanished. Also the topper looked pretty flat but expanded to the 3 inch topper as advertised. It fit perfectly over the queen size mattress. I have a similar topper on our bed and love it. I purchased it for our guest room so our quests could experience the same comfort. This item arrived in a timely fashion and exactly as advertised. There was no noticeable 'chemical odor' at all. There was a 'ridge' running down the center when first unpackaged (it was folded in half), but the topper quickly fluffed up and flattened out. It is a very comfortable layer to my bed, increasing my comfort by decreasing pressure points.
