Bought this on sale to replace a dead Bosch Powerstar (expensive new, no current support). Very easy to install, performs much better than the 16kw Bosch. No issue with a hot shower (its in a guest cabin, so just 2 sinks, one shower). Time will tell as to durability. As others have noted, mount it somewhere accessible (closet for me) as if power is interrupted it goes into standby mode when power comes back. You just have to touch the on button, but if it were in a crawlspace that wouldn't be helpful. Unit is briefcase sized, so should be easy to fit anywhere. ... show more

I followed all instructions on installation. Unit powers on initially, but stays in standby mode. I opened multiple hot water faucets (individually and then together). Nothing happens. Still in standby and no error codes. Double checked electrical and plumbing connections. It’s past the return window, so that’s a few hundred dollars down the drain. I did reach out to Airthereal for help and will update this review if they respond and help solve the issue. Update: apparently whoever hooked up the previous water tank got the hot/cold lines mixed up. Switched them and the unit started working. My only complaint is that when running a bath, I can’t open the line completely otherwise it’s too high of a flow for this heater. I was under the impression that if it can handle two showers at the same time (18k), then it should be able to handle one bath. Otherwise this is definitely an upgrade from the old water heater tank. ... show more

Here is my 100% “gods honest” experience and i really do hope this helps people!! Sorry it’s a little long!… I decided to give the 18k evening tide a try in my home! After reading the owners manual it was simple enough to understand how to install it! (I must mention i am a handyman by trade) it took a few hours to read, pull wires, and run some plumbing. I was moving my hot water heater location from the basement to the utility room on the main floor, because otherwise it would not take nearly as long since its basically a plug and play unit!! I did have an issue… & looking back, i know my original unit was faulty out of the box… i had ordered it on cyber monday so honestly i am wondering if it was dropped in the mail… it worked for 2 weeks and crapped out… this is my first experience with tankless & no one i know has used them either… so i didn't know something was wrong initially… when it died i was sad to learn that their customer service line is only open 12-4 est & panicked a little lol…. But i found out you can email them any time and they will typically get back to you outside of that timeframe!!! They are a smaller company & so I totally understand!! Per their request I sent them a couple short videos along with some other information and i was issued a replacement!! Exactly 1 week from making initial contact with the company i had my replacement and swapped the units out. Which took abt 30 mins including cutting breakers off & on in the basement, I honestly could’ve probably coached my 10 year old through doing it!! Immediately i knew the replacement was a good unit and that the original never was!! (It goes to standby mode when the hot water is not running which makes total since!!! If you see an EF code when the water isn’t running it does not mean energy efficient lolol) Anyways, to wrap all of this all up, i am very pleased with this product and company!! I do a lot of home remodeling and honestly i will start putting these in houses that need new water heaters!! Im a single mom of 3 girls & we tend to go through some hot water… lolol this is seriously a game changer in our life!!! Everyone can shower back to back before bed and no one has to get stuck with a potentially cold one lololol its so compact and honestly not bad to look at!! *Just wanted to update* We are 3 months in with the new unit and i am beyond pleased!!! I can run a bath while the shower is running and theres never a shortage of hot water!! The only *flaw* i have found is if you only run the hot water momentarily (im talking seconds) then the unit beeps because there is no water flow to cool the jets which just fired up. Which is not actually a flaw, just how things work! So if you turn on the hot water let it run for at least 30 seconds lol i am in love with this purchase!! ... show more

The water heater quit working Thursday. I tried to call the company but they are only open 4 hours a day. I emailed the seller my concerns because the unit is supposed to have a 1 year warranty (I’m 6 months in). It is now Saturday afternoon and I do not have a resolution nor has anyone contacted me. The weather has been below freezing and we have no hot water in our house. ***update*** 4 days later and 3 emails, this company has still not warranted the hot water heater and have not agreed to. Meanwhile my family has not been able to stay at home due to not having any hot water. **update** One week since the hot water heater quit working. My family and I are having to stay somewhere other than our home because we still do not have hot water. Customer service has been very rude and not helpful. Customer service has delayed the replacement every way possible. Once they agreed to send a replacement, they delayed the shipping 2 more day by requesting additional information like a phone number, then another day would go by and they request an email. Another day and they request a picture. Update again**** 12 days after contacting this company for a warranty claim, I still have not received a replacement. NO HOT WATER FOR MY FAMILY FOR 12 DAYS NOW. ... show more

Heats well but was told not to go over 105º because the consumption amperage goes up a lot and might trip the fuse. Also, after there is a power failure the unit goes to "standby" and does not heat, I have to go and turn on the unit for it to begin heating again, why this feature? Can somebody answer? Maybe someone in Airthereal Electric will be able to answer me. Meanwhile don't buy. ... show more

After the research worthy of my $250, I landed on this product (Airthereal Electric Tankless Water Heater 18kW, 240Volts). After I installed it and performed the start-up procedures, I was blown away with it's performance! I read the specs and it clearly states that 2 X 40 Amp, two pole breakers are required. For some reason that didn't register with me until I started installing it. Note - It is two separate 240 Volt circuits.
