The reason I say to be careful is because I was not, so it says you can use it to hear press designs on footwear fabric foot wear. I was not careful when I did it and ended up burning myself a little, also causing a bit of damage to my shoe because I didn't notice the heat touch a part that could melt. Nothing I can deal with but still. A smaller one would be best for footwear. This press is amazing thought cheaper in price AND WORKS compared to some other brands. This is my first time using an iron machine like this. I'm really excited to expand my crafting abilities! This is a very solid iron, with a decent amount of weight behind it. Enough so that it sits solidly in place and holds your projects down evenly, but not so much that it's a struggle to lift. When you power it on, you can adjust the target temp - it remembers your last time and temp settings. If you don't adjust them, it will default to last used. When it gets to temperature, it will beep several times. Then you carefully lift it from its heat protection base and apply it to your project. Hit the time button and start to start the time. It will beep again when it's done. The iron comes with 3 iron on designs. I don't know if they're different for everyone, but mine were animal themed and absolutely adorable. Its user guide is well written in English only and includes a guide to recommended temperature and time settings by fabric. This is a great item to pair with custom cutout tools like the Cricut machines! ... show more

I like the size of this heat press not too bag and not too small. I found it to be easy to use and it heats up pretty quickly to the temperature you set. Easy to use, clear simple instructions. It has a great safety feature of turning off after ten minutes in case you forget to shut it off. Don’t even need to use a lot of pressure and turns off in 10 minutes if you forget. This press is the perfect size. Easy to use, clear simple instructions. Lightweight enough to travel with if you need too. Easy to set temperature and time needed depending on your project. Don’t even need to use a lot of pressure and turns off in 10 minutes if you forget. Does take a minute or two to heat up to the temperature you set, but stays there unless you change it. I love the carrying case and they even have sent a couple of images to try! Very excited! This is a great in between size. Love it! Only suggestion I would have is to make the cord longer. ... show more

This heat press offers a flat platen for uniform pressure. The base has four silicone rests at the corners to elevate the heat press safely above surfaces. The power cord is appropriately sized. The controls are simple and easy to understand, making it simple to translate pressing instructions from transfer materials to the press. Temperature can be displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit (useful, for example, with a batch of transfer sheets that give temperatures ONLY in Celsius). It took about 2 minutes for the press to warm up to 305°F in my test, and the crisp OLED display showed progress toward reaching the set point. I've always wanted to make my own custom t-shirt designs, and this product looked like the perfect opportunity to learn how to do so. It turns out it works okay, but the instructions are lacking, especially if you're a novice. My impressions: - The product itself is well-built. It is solid and the controls are intuitive and easy to use. - There is a heating plate and what I originally thought to be a base to press the heating plate against. It turns out the base is to rest the the heating plate on in between pressing rounds, to keep the heating plate elevated and not touching anything. The instructions say to use a mat or folded towel to protect the surface underneath. I used a towel and that worked well. - The kit includes 3 sample transfer graphics and a fabric carrying case that doubles as a test cloth. I tested one of the samples on the fabric and I was able to stumble my way to a successful transfer. - Stumble, you say? Yes, unfortunately the instruction manual offers very little guidance on the included samples. The manual is good about calling out the temperature ranges for the various types of transfer material (transfer paper vs sublimation vs vinyl), but there is no indication anywhere what type of material the samples are on, and as a complete newbie I had no way of knowing. I finally tried following the temperatures and timing for sublimation, and when it looked like the sample would peel up when I pulled the backing paper, I did it a second time to get a perfect transfer. Yay me! - While doing the transfer, the temperature on the display varied wildly. I'm not sure if that's because the temperature dropped significantly when I placed the heating plate on the material, or if the sensor on the unit is out of wack. In any case, it made for a stressful transfer session, though I did get it done. The Heat Press Machine seems like a tricked out steam iron, without the steam or ironing board. It gets the job done, but you have to have some knowledge of the fabrics and transfer paper, and its ability to keep a steady temperature is suspect. I was able to get a transfer completed, but I'll need to work through a few more to determine how to handle the temperature swings and various transfer material. If you have experience, this unit will work for you, but a complete newbie should probably look elsewhere. ... show more
