For years I've used a smallish 3 step ladder for doing odd jobs inside the house, though it certainly wasn't tall enough to help me much outside. I also have another stepladder which has 4 steps, but it is old and getting a little decrepit, kinda like me! So I decided to be on the lookout for a new stepladder, and seeing this one, with FIVE steps, I figured it would be the one to get! It came quickly, boxed securely, and when I unboxed it, the packaged contained all the items needed to complete assembly of the ladder PLUS instructions! I am always so happy to see complete instructions for DIY things! It assembled quickly, and I couldn't wait to try it out. It is easy to carry, weighing around 20 pounds, and opens and closes smoothly. The steps are a LOT bigger than what I have on my old 3 step stool, and the tool tray at the top is super, so handy for painting or doing small repairs around the hosue, without having to get up and down and up and down to fetch tools or fastenings! The only thing I wish it had was a paper towel dispenser under the tray, but hey, I can live without that! This new 5 step ladder makes my little jobs around the house lots easier to do now. The price, as well, is comparable to other ladders like this. I'm not sorry I got this, and you won't be either!

I have been using a tall heavy-duty ladder in my garage for reaching items that are stored out of reach, but it has been cumbersome to move around, so I decided I needed something easier to access, so I ordered this HBTower step ladder. This stepstool is sleek and slim at only 4-inches wide when folded it and does not take up much room when stored in the closed position, and it weighs only 25-pounds, which I guess is heavy or light depending on your perception. I weigh 150-pounds and it is more than strong and stable enough for my weight with its 250-pound rating. Although I will say that I am surprised that ladders are being sold with such a low weight rating these days. The steps are nice and wide at nearly 8-inches wide by 12-inches long, and they have no-slip ridges on them. The steps themselves are metal with plastic inserts for traction. There are also no-slip ridged Thermo-plastic rubber feet on the bottom of the legs that are to help prevent the ladder from sliding around when in use. The ladder opens and closes easily by simply pivoting out the legs with your hands. There is a push-button behind the top step that locks the ladder in place, and you just push that button to unlock it to be able to fold it back up. The durability of that plastic button is dubious, though. The ladder arrives mostly assembled, you just need to bolt the top portion in place with the supplied bolts and tools, which just takes a couple of minutes. The bottom step is 6-inches off the ground, and each subsequent step is 10-inches above the previous one, so you get a good amount reach with this stepstool. Just be aware that there are no handrails on this ladder, so you need to use it with caution. If I have any issues with this ladder, it is that it does get a bit wobbly as I climb higher and I feel it could use a secondary set of cross braces. The welds are very narrow, and the legs seem to be very lightweight tubing. The metal for the cross braces is also quite thin and the and the connections for the steps are covered in plastic so it is hard to tell how robust those connections might be, so I question the durability of this ladder. It is a nice slim designed step ladder that will work well if you have the clearance for it and if you weigh well under 250-pounds.

The media could not be loaded. As you can see from the video, the locking mechanism was not working. the black piece was supposed to catch the the side of the step but it was not catching. As you can see from the picture, I used a couple of vice grips and bent the side down a few degrees. With the cardboard, I did not scratch the paint. They only allow one video, but that fixed it and now it snaps down and will not allow the steps up. Now when you push on the black piece, it pushes it away from the step, freeing it to collapse for storage. Since this was a very easy fix, and I like all the other functions, I did not remove one STAR from this review. I like that it is very sturdy and feels well made and I feel secure going up the steps. I like that it has 5 steps rather than the 2 step folding stool I have. To be safe, I prefer to not stand on the highest step of ladders. On my 2 step ladder, I then only have a little extra height, but with this one I can climb up an additional 27 inches. I like that it easily stores in my walk-in closet and does not have to be stored out in our garage like our traditional stepladders. I like the tool platform. I like that it was fully assembled, except locking the top bar in place with the 2 each nuts and bolts and the 2 tools provided.
