LADDER DOES NOT SLIP Purchased this because of the handrails. We store boxes on ceiling-level shelves. When climbing up the ladder holding a full box, I can hold onto a handrail with one hand and carry the box in the other. The ladder doesn't move. Our walk-in closet came with marble floors and our kitchen has porcelain but these longer rubber feet keep the ladder in place. HANDRAILS VS NO HANDRAILS Before I ordered this ladder, I ordered an HBTower 4-step without handrails. Both ladders have good tread and wide steps. The ladder without handrails was a strong ladder but when I was on the top step I felt vulnerable reaching for things and shoving things around. I returned that ladder (very easily) and bought this one. The handrail ladder does take up a bit more storage space and is a bit heavier, but the added width and weight are totally worth it. The gain in inches and ounces = increased safety. The handrails are also steel and you screw them into the ladder. They're not snapped on. They don't collapse or swivel. Sometimes when a box is particularly heavy or large, I pull myself up the last step with my arm. Ladder and handrails don't budge. ASSEMBLY Instructions are good. All pieces were present and I didn't need to use any of my own tools. It would have been helpful if I had looked everything over first and seen that HBTower labels the handrails LEFT and RIGHT. Then maybe I wouldn't have wasted time trying to install the left railing on the right side. But you never know.

I wish there were a way to fold the handrails flat. Because of the way they protrude, this stepladder won’t fold easily to store in a corner or, for instance, behind a door or in a closet. It also makes for awkward carrying, because you’re more likely to bump into things as you try to move through doorways, around corners, up or down steps. It’s too bad, because from a standpoint of sturdiness, safety, ease of use, convenient height, etc., it’s an awesome ladder/step stool for a shorty like myself, and those inconveniently fixed handrails are an excellent safety feature. I want to love this stepladder completely, but I didn’t realize it would be so hard to find a place to store it.

I had seen this step ladder in several catalogs and was intrigued. I found it here at a good price and bought it. I love it. It was fairly easy to put together and feels very sturdy. It's not too heavy to carry and is handy for all household needs. I still use my shorter ladder a lot, but this is great when I have to reach up high.

Noticed some people complained about the plastic steps. These are high impact plastic which keeps the weight down for elderly to handle. I have tested it out and feels very safe to me like the long handling rails.
