This press came with a very clear manual; I set it up and began using it the day it arrived. What a great price too. I have used it to attach leatherette patches to both canvas caps and wool-blend caps; they all came out looking great and perfectly adhered. This machine is sturdy, it takes up only a little room in my small studio, it's pretty portable, and it's available in several cute colors which is actually important to me!

This appears to be a very good value. It's super easy to use. You can make very acute adjustments if necessary. The machine is very sturdy. It can also be used as a clamp without the heat if you want to use this for applying patches with contact cement. It comes with an additional mounting base that works for other types of hats. I've also found that you can put some 6mm EVA foam between the base and the hat to match contours more precisely and avoid thickness variations with different styles of hats. I cannot yet attest to the longevity of the product, but it seems that I'll be able to use this for a long time. Great entry level product.

I wrestled with the idea of giving this press a ding on the "ease of use" stars from 5 to 4 but it deserves it for the inaccurate thermocouple in the platen. Make sure you have an infra-red shoot and lick (wait...."click") thermometer because the unit I received is off by about 50 degrees from the setting and actual platen temperature. That's the one minor thing I have to say. The rest of it is awesome. I absolutely love the full silicon hat pads instead of the machined aluminum with a 1/2" silicone pad like most of these machines have. It is very customizable and I may mold my own pads at some point. The two pads provided suit the old-school (making a comeback?) trucker hats and the more modern contoured flat caps. The hat capture lever is also better than the mighty max hat press I've owned for years. I do get a very slight shape imprint on some of the more unique hats that we run, but we ran about 75 hats through it the first night we got the press and it's pretty darn flawless. Just an incredible value.

I have multiple heat presses and this by far is the best for pressure, appearance, ability for ease of opening, and a even temperature. The timer lags a tad bit but I don't mind. As long as you are small worth your tools, fire hazards are very minimal. Overall, we love this machine!
