  • Excellent quality at a perfect price point!
This chair is an excellent purchase! I've worked from home for 7 years sitting at my "club height" dining room table in one of the hardwood chairs from the dining set. After suffering from chronic back pain for at least three of those years, I finally determined that my chair might have something to do with my issues. Having sold office furniture for a decade of my career, I thought that getting a quality product was going to cost me a fortune. I was wrong! The chair isn't difficult at all to put together, although, admittedly, I've put a few together in the past. If you take your time and place all screws in the holes loosely, gently adjust the placement, and then tighten, there are no issues in alignment and no force required. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality. The entire chair exudes quality. It is strong and sturdy, it operates smoothly, and is extremely comfortable! It has all the necessary hallmarks of a good ergonomic chair. lumbar support, a mesh waterfall seat to avoid compression at the back of the knee and nice armrests. Not only am I impressed with the prompt delivery and quality of the chair, their customer service is excellent. I didn't want to use the casters (as I don't want the chair to roll) so I contacted the manufacturer through their published email address (on a weekend, I will add) and received a prompt reply to my question. I purchased the optional floor glides for a very reasonable price and they offered free shipping too! I couldn't be more pleased and can confidently recommend this chair. ... show more

  • Comfortable while working long hours
The working island in my studio is taller than an office chair will accommodate. The Harwick Drafting Chair is perfect for my need. I am a 71 year old female retired corporate executive who spends 60+ hours a week working in my studio so the comfort of my workspace is important. This drafting chair is comfortable with the tilting back a plus. The footrest ring has a large circumference so no need to tuck your feet way back under you to use it. The height adjustment is easily and smoothly operated. The upgrade to larger wheels was a wise decision but for the price they should be standard. I put the chair together by myself in 43 minutes. It was a bit wobbly initially but I took a leap of faith and climbed aboard....at the lowest adjustment, of course. It seemed to settle a little and was stable upon standing. It is a bit heavy to stabilize while attaching the back to the seat but an unopened box of baking soda was just the right height for a prop. Quality chair although a bit pricy but I am comfortable and feel safe sitting at the height I need . I would recommend this chair. ... show more

  • Does NOT come assembled, be advised.
This chair does NOT come assembled, and is in many pieces, so be advised. I reviewed the other, "reviews" and no one said this. It has just been delivered and it looks like it will take an hour or more to put together, just so you know. I am updating my review. I had a friend assemble the chair and now have it in my office. This chair will definitely seat you at a higher level than a standard office chair. It takes a little getting used to, at it's lowest level my toes barely touch the floor, and I have long legs and I am almost 6' tall. The seat kind of cocks your legs at an up angle, and this is not adjustable. The back is adjustable, as is the height. It is a VERY well made chair, and looks terrific, very professional. It is comfortable, but, like I said it takes a little getting used to. I would give it 5 stars if I could make the front of the seat tilt a bit downward. I just do not like sitting in a chair and my feet not on the ground. ... show more

  • Buyer Beware: Poorly Designed Product w/ Bad Manufacturing Standards
When I bought this chair, I assumed that I'd be buying a premium product, or at least that's what the pricetag and reviews seemed to suggest. In reality, I purchased a subpar made in china product that is available from other sellers at a lesser markup ($100 less, in fact). When assembling the product, all of the screws came included, but it was evident that there is no quality control on the manufacturing line, because the screw holes connecting the back piece to the armrest piece were not drilled and tapped in the correct locations, causing only 3 of the 4 screws meant to connect to the back rest of the chair to actually end up being in the chair. While I'll admit that this isn't the end of the world, it certainly shouldn't be this way on a $350 product. After sitting on it, it's just about as comfortable as the dining room chair that this was meant to replace. Don't purchase this, there are better options that won't murder your wallet and leave you frustrated after assembly. ... show more

  • Comfortable & supportive!
Update - 2+ years later and it's still awesome. I searched for a long while for a standing desk chair and this, fortunately, turned out to be THE ONE. I don't care much about armrests, I care more about back and leg fatigue and this one does a fine job. I'm almost 6' and find this chair to be the perfect height, and I've sat off and on in the chair for 12 hours and no back issues nor was there much leg fatigue. I do try and stand a few hours throughout the day but when I forget to do so this chair helps immensely. I was nervous spending the extra money compared to the other chairs, but now I'm glad I did. FYI - you can put it together yourself but it's easier with two persons to lift the final two pieces in place. Finally, if you wear shorts and sit in this chair the mesh will make a patter on your skin...I just lay a think blanket over it and it's fine. ... show more

  • Very Happy with Purchase
Not including the wheels, there are 7 parts. Fairly easy to put together, the back to the arms connections were a bit tight, but with some finagling, full build took about 20 mins. Everything about this chair is smooth. Such an improvement over what I had. I have only had it for 3 days, so I will update after a few months. So far it has met my expectations of a solid chair. I am 225lbs heavy and find the chair to be more than capable of handling my weight. The foot ring is solid and does not move as I enter the chair. The arms are tight and stay where you put them (up or down). The only thing I was surprised about was the base is not metal. It looks like a very thick and solid abs plastic. I am hoping it holds up... I expect it will as the ratings set this chair to handle up to 325lbs. I'm very happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • It's not worth the money, buy a different chair
I got this chair to use on a standing height desk at home. After using it for a few weeks, I wish I purchased another chair. I purchased the chair because it has a good warranty and is "heavy duty", plus it is the height I need. Unfortunately, the footrest will not stay up. It's not broken, just really poorly designed. The warranty doesn't help. Also of note, only the seat height and reclining of the back is adjustable. The arms are a fixed height (even though they flip up, you can't adjust them to support you arms. My arms don't hit the armrests at all for instance. There is no adjustable lumbar support, no adjustable tilt on the seat. Nothing. Just height. A huge disappointment for the money. PROS - It is heavy duty. The seat and back are solid feeling - The mesh keeps your legs from getting sweaty CONS - The arms ARE NOT adjustable. Nor are they at a good height (at least for my arms) - The footrest will not stay up. It wobbles and slides down until it hits the bottom of the chair - It's not adjustable enough to warrant the $$$ price tag. There are better chairs out there for the money. Look for them. Update: There's now a loud cracking sound when I sit down or get up from the chair. It makes me not want to buy from Amazon again. ... show more

  • Strong frame, weak supports
UPDATE 2 -- 2yrs owned (today 2/17/22). Chair frame and mesh still solid. Daily use a-OK. The footring is still a hot mess and the cushion/pad at the back of the knee still needs multi-adjustments per day (this one irks me more than anything but it's minimal). That said, the chair is still comfortable, the frame is still sturdy, and this chair absolutely beats any cheapo "pad n plank" chair. I thought for sure by now the way the cushion behind the knees keeps slipping out that the mesh would've torn/frayed/etc by now, no indicator of any damage. I've learned to basically just let my feet rest on the loose ring; it's literally no issue at the bottom of the chair. It's useless if you want it anywhere other than the bottom of the chair, or tight, but for a loose ring at the bottom of the chair it does just fine lol. I still use it for hours every day, no body pains or anything weird. Still recommend, just hope manufac does something w/ the ring and the cushion behind the knees in the next version. UPDATE 1 -- Same overall rating, just updating after having it longer. Bought 1/22/20, currently 4/30/21. Chair is GREAT if you don't mind the foot rest ring never staying in place and being wiggly forever, the piston dropping 1/4" whenever it wants, and the cushion under your legs needing put back in place every time you get up. Frame is SOLID. Arms are a little low, like 2-3" higher would be perfect for me. I replaced the wheels a while back w/ the roller-blade type wheels, smooth sailing. Both the original wheels and these have a wicked habit of collecting floor "misc," especially true if you have pets. Mesh seat and back are in excellent condition still. Overall a decent chair, but you've gotta get past a few quirks. Have had this chair for 9 months now. The chair itself does a great job of holding the user. The back is great for support and the seat portion is taught. The foam in the seat requires multiple times per day adjustment as it continuously slides out of place. The foot-ring hasn't been secured in place since day 2. You can tighten it down but it'll slip and slide and settle on the wheel-base almost immediately. Company said "don't apply pressure to it, it'll stay in place" ... Great, DONT use the ring, it'll be fine. The chair sitting on the piston seems loose/wobbly, not unsafe, just not sturdy. The piston drops a 1/4" or so once or twice throughout the day. I'm well off from this chair's max weight and refuse to sit back all the way at max height because I don't need that kind of fear in my life. I get up, raise the seat again, and enjoy for another hour or two before it ever so gently drops a 1/4" again. OVERALL, the chair is excellent for sitting in for long periods. If you can get past the foot ring resting at the wheel-base forever onward and don't mind resetting the foam in the seat a few times per day the chair is excellent. I'm definitely not a fan of the daily adjustments though. Will be reaching out to company/manufac for thoughts on the foam staying in place as it's starting to show a pinch point on the chair mesh and I'd rather not have to deal w/ a rip/tear in mesh due to foam moving around. ... show more
