  • Its construction is light. Not too heavy to carry.
This is the best hand truck I ever had. There were 3 adjustable positions to use especially when going down the stairs. And easy to carry - it’s lightweight.

  • while sturdy enough for the loads I typically put on it
I chose the nylon body because I expect to have this for quite a few years, and I thought it would prevent rust problems. The yellow handle and the nose piece are metal, however. I only occasionally need a cart and for years have used a very small folding cart that, while sturdy enough for the loads I typically put on it, has a single handle which causes loads to often slip when reclined. So this cart won't get a huge amount of use, but needs to last. It was shipped with a tag pasted on the nose, which fortunately I was able to peel off, and a plastic bag over the whole thing, no box, no padding, nothing. I was quite surprised by this. However, since it arrived just fine with no damage, I can't complain. I've only had a chance to use it once so far, so I don't know how well it will hold up (looks like it will, though), but the first task was to bring a large gas grill box inside, weighing 125 pounds. I've had experience lifting full size lateral file cabinets with appliance dollies (with straps), where if you're as light and short as I am, you have to climb up on the dolly and fling yourself backward to get it in the tilted and balanced position. This load was too heavy for me to tilt up with the short nose, but I was able to strap the box onto the cart using some cargo straps that I had, and the angle of the stair gliders give you a number of attachment points, so that was another positive surprise. After it was strapped, I could tip it back; if I had a lot of boxes like this, I might consider a nose extension. This particular load had to go up 3 concrete steps and then another step into a small foyer. The stair gliders worked perfectly on the concrete steps; I was able to roll it up one step at a time, even though the box is close to my weight. The large, solid wheels are another plus. Not only do they roll well, but they lift the load nicely over steps as well, with the gliders providing additional support. The final surprise was when I went over the last step and had the cart balanced a little too low for the interior wall in the way. It tipped down into the four-wheel cart position almost on its own, and even though the handle was not in the 4-wheel position, it was a breeze to just roll it the rest of the way in the 4 wheel position. I didn't expect to be able to roll into that position from the 2 wheel upright position, so that was an unexpected bonus for an action on my part that could have damaged the floor or me in a regular 2 wheel cart. From my limited experience with it so far, it seems to be an excellent cart, and I'm very pleased with it. ... show more

  • Useful
Bought for moving, worked pretty well. Works best as a normal hand truck, lifting things and using it at an angle. Tried moving a ~400 lb crate up a ramp on a loading truck in the cart mode, bent one of the casters and tore it out. Hand truck itself held up fine, just the caster got stuck and broke. Moved multiple other 200-300 lb crates in the normal hand truck mode, ratchet strapping them to the truck to move them and it held up fine. Mine came pre-assembled and missing a washer and cotter pin for the main axle for some reason. Put on a washer and used a bit of wire for the pin and it worked fine. Surprisingly sturdy for the price, and as long as you don't hook the wheels on anything, it works pretty well. Recommended if you're looking for a relatively inexpensive, durable hand truck. ... show more

  • Lightweight and very flexible
This is a perfect hand truck for my needs. Both upright and flat orientation work well. Easy to convert. Relatively lightweight and easy to maneuver. Good value too (well made and not expensive).

  • Solid quality and build, well-designed, lightweight but durable
My god! A well designed tool that you can take apart and put back together again... remember when most products were like that, perhaps 30 years ago? I bought this dolly/hand truck to help us move out of our Michigan Ave apt during the first few months of the COVID pandemic to protect my back and speed up our progress. I went with the heavier design because I had to lever a heavy desk off the floor and didn’t want my new purchase to disintegrate on day one. The frame is plastic but the engineering is admirable... it’s light but strong where it needs to be. Wheels are solid but grippy and share a rigid axle, held on by robust washers and cotter pins. The handle flips from hand truck to dolly easily and is help in place by heavy duty but manageable pins. For those of you who travel or are tight on space, this thing breaks down into a pile of well-made parts in 5 minutes. We strapped the frame on to the roof rack and threw the parts into a plastic bag and hit the road, leaving our COVID infested apartment building behind. ... show more

  • Harpers Customer Service is AWESOME! Fixed issue immediately with no nonsense.
It took quite me a while to decide on this Harper dolly - so you can imagine that I was a little grieved when it arrived with some paint scratched off the handle and a clip that holds the handle in place was missing - I called their Customer Service - they picked up in less than 5 rings, and if you can believe this, it was an actual human with a pulse (someone named Cindy, who was awesome), I know, right! She requested pics for their records - we sent them - then she happily and immediately sent out the missing and damaged parts. Chances are, based on the high quality of Harper Trucks customer service, the damage most likely happened in transit by the carrier after it left them - yet Harper Trucks made absolutely no excuses, but apologized for the inconvenience and immediately sent out the parts - how great is that nowadays. Haven't yet had the chance to try the dolly/truck out yet but I don't doubt it'll work just fine. Thanks Harper Trucks and Thanks to Cindy the Customer Service Rep. for her friendly and immediate help. And a note to the upcoming younger generations who may not realize it - THIS is the kind of company and quality of service which us older folk grew-up with and demanded back in the day - you should settle for no less than this kind of service and company at all times; and simply refuse to do business with any who are not willing to provide you the same. It'll make all the difference in the long-term quality of life for you and yours... :) ... show more
