    • I wanted to add paper filters to my stainless steel cone to remove cafestol

I've been using a Prance stainless steel cone to filter immersion brewed coffee for a year or two, and recently got an elevated LDL cholesterol result. After some research on the internet, I found that in French press type brewing, cafestol winds up in the cup and it's a powerful elevator of LDL. It turns out that paper filters remove almost all of it. So I decided to try these Hario filters. They fit my cone perfectly and I think they actually promote the filtration process. I'm getting a cleaner result now and if anything an improvement in flavor profile. I wash them in the cone first by filling the cone with room temperature water and allowing it to run through. It helps seat the paper and people say it washes away any flavors that may come from the paper. I don't know about that but I wash them before use in the cone anyway. Great coffee filter when they are in stock, the problem was that whenever I was looking, they were out. Which isn’t their fault necessarily, but as a customer it was an inconvenience on my end.

Took a while, but oh man is it worth it. These are the absolute best filters for the V60. They're made in the original factory, so everything about them is traditional and intentional. The ONLY filter to make proper pour-overs with. Amazingly flavor, very neutral and organic. The filtration is efficient, with little clogging and no particulates on the other end.
