Getting this made me realize how bod my other calibers are! The display is so big and clear. The slide is smooth enough. I'm sure there are smoother options but for basic measurements and CAD design it's fantastic!

It charges up easily so it way better than a battery style. Feels very well made. It’s coming in handy in my new jewelry business. I highly recommend this model.

I already had two digital calipers and one mechanical, but was enticed by the fact that this one is rechargeable. It will be months before I know how well the battery holds up, but I'm already liking the fact I don't have to feel the need to conserve power and shut it down between readings during extended use. It does indeed power down on its own after about 5 minutes and even automatically powers up by simply sliding them open. The display is certainly large and easy to read from multiple angles, but I find it annoying there's no battery level indicator. For the decimal inches mode, I'm not sure I like the tenths digit being large - I think I would prefer all decimals to be small like it is with metric. But then they don't have room for that fourth decimal place - though I do like my other calipers where that lower-precision digit is smaller than all the others since I mostly ignore it. It feels sufficiently robust and the buttons have a very solid feel with good tactile feedback (though it's odd having the power button in the middle). The lock screw holds firm and the female threads are metal instead of plastic. The bump for pushing and pulling could stand to be steeper or at least add one more ridge at the tip but the roller is at least smooth and grabs well. So far, it seems every bit as accurate and consistent as my other calipers. The orange-on-black motif is not very friendly on aging eyes, especially with such a tiny font on the tenths of an inch. For such a purpose-built case, I'm surprised they used flimsy live hinges and I would prefer to be able to open it one-handed. There's also no place to retain the instruction sheet without it being in the way every time you open up (I just taped mine to the lid, though).

Why didn't I look for a rechargeable caliper before? Every time I would grab my old digital calipers the battery was dead. If the battery is dead on this, just plug it in and give it a couple of minutes and your back in business.
