I bought this to replace my valve seals on my Mini N18 motor. It feels a bit cheap, and there are some VERY sharp edges on the adapter things. But with the head off the car, this worked really well for the 16 valve springs I needed to R&R. I like it because unlike the bar-type, this leaves both hands free to deal with the keepers. Its cheap, and it shows, but it worked just fine.

I struggled to give what I thought a valid rating (settled on 2 stars) because on the one hand it does accomplish the task but on the other its just not a very good product. Immediately upon unboxing cut myself on one of the adapters removing it from the case as they were very crudely cut leaving razor edges at points. Although fairly self explanatory, instructions were nowhere included and perhaps could have helped. The inserting bar was a constant issue as to get proper leverage I constantly had to turn the cylinder head at angles that 3-4x would result in the bar falling out and need to be chased down to resume tightening or releasing springs. So again, maybe 2 stars is unfair... it worked to accomplish the job.... yet with almost no aspect of this being easy to use or not causing extra efforts I can't really say it's a very good product either.

I got this yesterday and I must say that the plastic case looks rugged and durable and perhaps it will serve future use with a better tool. However this tool is near useless. The hollow C-clamp flexes and bends and does not exert enough force to compress the valve springs. On a Fiat motor. A tiny Fiat motor head. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because I might be able to use the collets with a regular C-clamp. Seriously, I would suggest getting a large C-clamp and making your own tool. Once again I have to question the veracity of some of the reviews - the poor grammar suggests that perhaps some of these (ahem) "American" reviews are not what they seem...
