While most hair metal just did the same thing over and over again. Pussycat at least tried to expand their sound and that's what most of this LP contains. From the great ballads "Nonstop to Nowhere"(a loser finds himself an adult with a wasted life) and "Mr. Lovedog"(a great ode to Mother Love Bone's Andrew Wood who died of a heroin overdose). To some real horrrific events "Only Way Out", "Body Theif" and "Maid in Wonderland." While most hair metal fans will not like the albums somber tone, there still is some great music on it and the band sounds great. Love, love this French singer and have been watching her/listening to her since the 70's when she was still in her teens. Always looked for a DVD but didn't run across anything until last year or so...was an International DVD and I would have to buy player and wait for weeks for the DVD to be shipped from France. Saw this copy was from an "inside-states" vendor and the price was affordable as was an "All Regions" player which I also bought through Amazon. Was surprised to receive the DVD in just a few days. My husband and I sat for 2 hours plus watching. Sure, Mireille Mathieu is now more mature in this 2005 concert but...her voice is still as beautiful as ever and she still has perfect pitch/control and can carry notes out forever. Well, forget everything you heard about Corner simply wanting to be like Radiohead. This album pretty much takes the early industrial (I'm not talking about NIN), lite trip hop, and 80's flavorings that cropped up in Bloodsport and takes it to the extreme. His voice might seem a little much after a while, but I made it through the first 1 1/2 listens before it got a bit annoying in a single sitting. At least he knows how to use his voice qualities and limitations properly, unlike a lot of people who don't capitalize on their strengths and stay away from their weaknesses as they should. It might seem like gimmickry, but that's kind of the whole point of using your voice as a hook. The weird gay heroine addict theme of the photography might throw some people off, but the guy's just skinny, likes funky fo-hawks (read that: really big bed hair), and the color pink.
