This handheld game device is very much in line with the wave of multi-game portables that have been popping up over the past few years. The key to enjoying it is setting your expectations realistically, which I did going in. You’re not getting app store-level games or modern graphics. These are retro-style games, roughly in the range of 1970s through early 2000s, and the experience reflects that. No internet, no updates, just straightforward offline gameplay. That’s not a knock against it, though. For anyone raised on more advanced games, it's worth knowing what this device is and isn’t. I’m in my 30s, and these types of games were already starting to disappear when I was a kid, so there’s a bit of nostalgia tied to the look and feel. The form factor definitely reminded me of older handhelds I used to play, and that was a nice touch right out of the box. Most of the games rely on just the D-pad and one or two of the face buttons, so while there are four buttons, many titles don’t use all of them. That said, the games are surprisingly entertaining and work well for killing time in short bursts. There's a quick-access reset button that brings you back to the main menu, making it easy to switch between games. Genre-wise, there’s a fair amount of variety: racing, puzzles, fighting, and so on. The device itself is compact, easy to use, and very portable. Battery life has been reasonable for the size, and it’s nice that you can play while plugged into a USB cable. There’s also an A/V out port for playing on a bigger screen, though the cable isn’t included, so you'd need to track that down separately. In terms of value, I’ve seen similar devices go for a bit less, so it's not the best deal out there, but still within a justifiable range. The biggest limitation is that it’s not expandable. The games it comes with are all you get, which is common with devices like this. There’s no SD card slot or way to add more titles. I also noticed some mild screen tearing in a couple of games, which reminded me of the kind of thing V-Sync helps fix on PCs, but it wasn’t a widespread issue. Screen resolution isn’t HD, but for retro or arcade-style games, it works fine. As long as you go into it expecting a throwback-style device with no bells or whistles, it delivers a solid, portable gaming experience.

Okay, so I have a confession. I originally ordered this for my 12-year-old, but he never got it. Instead, I kept it for myself! I love that this handheld game console is bigger than phone size. It's substantial and easy to hold onto. The graphics and color are great. And the reaction times are really fast. But the greatest feature is the variety of games preloaded on this thing. Some of my all time favorites, and I'm sure probably some of yours too. So the big selling feature is the overall size, but what's inside counts just as much. Play your ole time favorites again now!

This is a pretty cool device and great value for the money. These are simple, old school games with average graphics. Since there are so many on there it can keep a child (or adult) occupied for a while. Its small enough to fit in an adult pocket. It doesn't require batteries. USB charge. Its fast and easy to turn and start playing. No loading or delays. I am going to put this in my car. I will only allow my son to use it in the car. That way trips are really easy for him and it won't get old. Good for kids age 4 and up.
