A great coffee pot and works seamlessly with Alexa

This coffee pot is amazing. I purchased it because it works with Alexa. It was very quick and easy to set up. Connecting to wi-fi was a breeze, and it integrated easily into my smart home ecosystem. Some reviewers stated that they didn't like having to press the ready-to-brew button for it to work with Alexa. Once you have it prepped, you must press the ready-to-brew button to arm it for Alexa. I can kinda see their point. You could just set a timer for the pot to turn on in the morning. But for me, that wouldn't work. If you set a timer, the pot would come on at an exact time. There is no flexibility if you want to sleep in. I think it's great to simply be able to get up when I want to, and say, "Alexa, turn on the coffee pot." Another great thing about that ready-to-brew button is that it keeps me from accidentally starting an empty pot. I have, on occasion, forgotten to get the coffee pot ready the night before. Then, when I asked Alexa to start the coffee pot, she would not. So I love the idea of the ready-to-brew button. As far as the coffee, it makes the best cup of coffee I could ask for. I also like the fact that you can select the bold setting and use less coffee. The time it takes to brew a pot of coffee is about average, I would say. I would definitely recommend you purchase this coffee pot. Especially if you have a smart home set up as I do. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Definitely a great buy! ... show more

Worst coffee maker I have ever owned, and it's not even close.

We have lots of smart devices in the house, many of them hooked up to Alexa. I thought this would be a fun addition. When I got it out of the box, my first thought was....wow...this thing is light. I've had wrist watches that weigh more. I hope that's not a bad sign. Less than a week later, it stopped working. We made coffee that morning. An hour later I came down stairs for a second cup, and the entire display is blinking weakly. It's not connecting to the internet anymore. None of the buttons are responsive. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Clock reset to -- and everything keeps blinking. I come back an hour later, and the time display is completely gone. Only the brew strength indicator is still showing...blinking away. Then another hour, nothing. I have owned many, many coffee makers over the years. Never has any of them felt so cheaply made or lasted less a year...much less less than a week. It's absolutely ridiculous. Amazon should be ashamed to have the Alexa brand associated with this garbage product. Hamilton Beach has never been a premium brand, but I at least considered their products buyable. It felt cheap out of the box and then failed my lowest expectations. I will never buy a Hamilton Beach product again. I might even refuse a free one. ... show more

Alexa turn on my coffee maker

Love it! Before we're out of bed the coffee maker is doing it's thing. We have no set schedule so setting a coffee pot timer doesn't work for us. This is a perfect solution. Before we get up, "Alexa, turn on my coffee maker". By the time we get to the kitchen the hot coffee is ready to pour in the mugs and start our day. (We haven't yet figured out how to have Alexa pour the coffee and do the dishes!) We had purchased another brand with a leaky, steel insulated carafe but after two of those we went with this brand. Untold details Hamilton vs Atomi

Please read I hope this helps someone. Sorry, it's long. Returned due to unexplained operation details. I bought this unit over the Atomi due to the brand name, front load filter, and front water refill. Unfortunately, when I received the machine, I figured out very quickly that it was not what I wanted due to how it operated. To explain briefly, I work shifts, so my early morning schedules are on different days of the week. Therefore, when I want to sleep in on my days off, it is on different weekdays every week. This unit does not accommodate this type of use. It only allows for setting a schedule through the app Monday–Sunday without the option to set a delay from the machine itself. Basically, you have to pick between using this machine with a schedule or with voice commands. This was my main issue, as was the fact that to use any smart controls, the “ready to brew” button must be pressed every time for any operation to work. So if you have a schedule set and push “ready to brew” but want to sleep in and use voice controls or the app to turn the machine on, you have to go into the app and turn off the schedule, or it will go off at the set time. The “ready to brew” button ruined the functionality of this machine. For a Monday through Friday worker, this machine would work better. With the Atomi, I just get my coffee ready at night and leave it for voice commands or the app if I want to sleep in, or I just push the delay brew button on the front of the unit for the preset time of delay brew that I set from the unit itself. You can also set a schedule in the app. Basically, the Atomi is "ready to brew" at any time, any day; you just have to tell it to go. So in review: The bad: 1) The "ready to brew" button has to be pushed for any operation to work. (Voice commands and delayed brewing) This button ruined the functionality of the machine. 2) All operations must be made through the app. 3) The power cord is very short. 4) Carafe does not like its home. It can be difficult to place back due to the auto stop spring being too long. I think this is the reason for some reviews saying it spills out. 5) Essentially, you have to pick to use this machine by voice commands or schedule, not both. 6) Don't forget to hit the “ready to brew” button if you want coffee at all. 7) NO DELAY BREW BUTTON! The good: To be clear, this coffee maker did work and did its job. They just messed up the fine details to make this a fully functional machine to suit everybody’s needs. 1) I like the front-load filter and water refill. 2) The carafe seemed sturdy and well made. 3) It is best for Monday-Friday workers not rotating shift schedules. Overall, I returned this for the Atomi and like the Atomi 100 percent better. You can set a delay brew from the machine itself, and the unit is ready to work at all times without having to have any "ready to brew" buttons pressed prior to use. The set-up was easy on the Atomi and the time was accurate. Time will tell about the longevity of the Atomi. Take away the “ready to brew” button and have it always ready. Bring back a delay brew button on the machine itself, and this will fit everyone's needs perfectly. All this is just my experience and opinion. I hope it helped someone ... show more

"Alexa Plus" interface not working reliably

Edit Dec 14, 2025: First hook-up and pairing seemed fine - tested Alexa+ command and it turned on and off. However, two mornings in a row, both of my Echo devices have reported the coffee maker off line. In each case I confirmed it to be on line and ready to brew. After I started it manually, the Echo devices reported "good news, the coffee is brewing" to which I said, NS. I'll skip the humorous but annoying exchange that followed, where the ai Alexa+ made excuses and tried to make light of the problem. I have now programmed a separate routine within the app, in which "Alexa - Breakfast" starts the brewing cycle. That way the ai is less involved (?) and so far that has worked fine. The coffee maker shows linked on the Alexa App, and (so far) it has been controllable from the phone, or with the command to use my routine "Alexa - Breakfast", but not with the command "Alexa, start my coffee maker". In fact, sometimes if I say start the coffee maker, Alexa starts telling about coffee makers on Amazon. Also, one little physical design issue. The water tank gauge on the side does not show anything below 4 cups. I often want only 2 1/2 or 3 cups. Therefore measuring the water going in will be my new habit. Another update to follow if warranted. Edit: as long as I use a command to start a routine, and remember to activate the "ready to brew" light, this has been working well. ... show more

Why Alexa compatible?

I agree that the number of times I'm going to set this up before bedtime, press the ready switch and then issue a verbal command to Alexa (which it doesn't understand the first time around) will be few. Maybe never. I wanted Internet connectivity so that I have an accurate clock. Life is too short to be resetting the clock everytime there is a power interruption. It replaces another Hamilton Beach that was getting old and hard to clean. I've read several complaints about the last bit of coffee not coming out, even if you turn the carafe upside down. That is not true. It's the same carafe as our older HB. It is a little harder to get that last small amount out, but it will drain out if you turn the carafe upside down. Also, some people would prefer an audio alert for when the unit turns on and off. Not necessary to me, and I would likely not hear it outside the kitchen. Maybe a suggestion for future models to put one on that can be switched on or off. Our previous HB model was filled from the back (so many spills while filling). This one fills from the front--very convenient. The shut-off valve between the carafe and coffee basket is a tighter-than-normal fit. Watch to make sure the valve is properly seated when inserting the carafe. ... show more

Easiest to operate machine makes great tasting coffee

A good looking, making great coffee machine. The convenience of pouring water on the front of the machine and adding coffee to the swivel basket makes it the best for me. The coffee it makes tastes softer and better than the ones i had before. The carafe keeps the moisture tightly inside so there is not coffee burnout over time. It is quiet and does not emit hot vapors when it is working. 100% recommend. Bought the more expensive Alexa version primarily for the looks. It does work with Alexa well, but not a big deal for me. However, when you connect it to your wifi the clock shows correct time automatically. Never set the time again. ... show more
