  • Stable temperature, great for cooking outside
I use this for deep frying outside so I don't stink up the house. Temperature remains stable even in wind and using a large cast iron pot. If using the temperature control, it's about 25 degrees off, so I use a separate thermometer to confirm. It boils water so much faster than my gas range and doesn't heat up the house as much. Some of my pots make a higher pitch sound but that's just how induction works. The fan in the unit is a little bit loud but so is my range fan so not a big deal. ... show more

  • A great value for the price
I was surprised that it seems to very noticeably "cycle" off and on a lot, significantly raising and lowering the temperature/power each time, not that that's really a problem, but infinitely variable control like any resistance or gas stove would be much better. Is this the difference between this "economy" inductance stovetop and the other, much more expensive models? If not, then what IS the difference?? As another reviewer wrote, "It has timed cycles like microwaves, not power levels", I think this is a correct description; but is this true of all inductance cooktops? I'd like to know! It will NOT heat the edges of a 10" pan nor pot very well. The dirty little secret of inductance cooktops seems to be that the internal coils are very small, probably less than 6"; Amazon needs to require sellers to write more useful descriptions rather than just endless, unhelpful marketing drivel. All the same, I'm glad I bought it , and I would buy it again! There's a learning curve, this being my first inductance stovetop, especially with the choice of either setting the desired temperature or the desired "power level". It's is very tricky setting a pot of soup to simmer without either over-or under-powering it. Now I see why some models have what I thought was a ridiculous 20 power levels to choose from; continuously variably via a real or virtual dial control would be better. Now that I know I want an inductance cooktop, I'm shopping for a 2 or 3 burner, 240 volt one I can inset into my countertop; I'll definitely want one that let's me choose between setting temperature and setting the power level, OR that offers a huge selection of fine power settings. and I think these should be designed to offer fine-tuning right around the range where I want to simmer a pot of stew or whatever... The biggest issue is that the coil diameter (the coil is hidden, but you can tell it's small)- because the edges of my 10" frying pan and 6-qt. pot don't heat up adequately, requiring constant stirring, and omelets raw around the edges. But, Amazon, YOU HAVE GOT TO POLICE THE CARELESS, VAGUE, AND MISLEADING PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS in most listings. Product descriptions for so many items are expanding into sleazy-looking piles of SPAM, strewn randomly with unrelated but similar-looking things, making Amazon shopping a big headache. YOUR CUSTOMERS DESERVE BETTER!! One two-burner inductance stove errantly listed the power source as "gas"; the seller acknowledged the mistake, but did not correct it. -I say this because as I am trying to select a good inductance stovetop to inset into my countertop, I'm gong to be stuck with it for a long time, and the listings are long and misleading, too often written by marketing folks without the slightest understand of basic units of measurement and parameters that buyers might find useful. ... show more

  • Needs temp gauge
It needs a temperature gauge for the preset temps. I would like to know what is "high, med and low" on it. It took forever to scramble eggs. Can u bake on it also. I would have thought a name brand item would have directions on how to cook with it. I have never used one before.

  • Works well, easy to use and clean
This unit heats a pan full of water to a boil in nothing flat -- much faster than my natural gas cooktop. I like everything about it except that after heating for a while the temperature cools slightly and I have to bump up the temperature setting. This isn't a big deal, just a minor inconvenience. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Oh my goodness this product is amazing.
If you have a 120V outlet, you have inexpensive induction cooking. And if you have good steel cookware, it is paradigm changing. Massively more efficient than resistive or gas heat, doesn't create a bunch of waste heat or exhaust you have to vent to run air conditioning to correct, and enough power for everything except, in some cases, pan frying. Takes some getting used to; even the level 1, simmer setting provides a _lot_ of energy. And it was only $70 when I bought it. It's an incredible product, I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • It works, but the controls need improvement.
I bought this induction heater as a more efficient and cleaner alternative to my gas stove. I must admit that this product works very well, in that it can heat up things much more quickly than a gas stove. However, I decided to reduce the rating and ultimately return the product because the controls are disappointing. Given that there are 10 heat settings, I figured that I could use the lower heat settings even if the induction cooktop is really powerful. But the lower heat and temperature settings are very misleading. They do not heat continuously at a lower intensity (as you would expect) but rather they heat at high intensity in pulses followed by pauses of no heating. This makes it impossible to cook smaller portions continuously at low heat. It is also very difficult to simmer something, this will always violently boil liquids unless you are cooking a large volume in a large pot. So while I appreciate the efficiency and power of this product, the controls do not allow for the consistent gentle or slow cooking of smaller portions that one would reasonably expect of a single range, portable cooktop. Please be aware of these limitations and only purchase if you want to cook things very intensely or cook large portions as this product does not have the output control necessary to cook smaller portions. ... show more

  • Great Induction Burner
Wow, love this portable burner, we use it everyday. A great way to cook, very fast heat. For the price very happy. Thinking about getting another one with better heat regulation, but for all intends and purposes I'm glad we bought this one to try out induction cooking. I'm convinced, this is the best way to cook; and I've always been a gas stove snob. :-) ... show more
