  • Outperforms all of my expectations!
When I ordered this, it was with the hope that the product would perform to my expectations. I want to start by saying that this unit exceeds my expectations in every way and I'm so happy that I have it. As a coffee-driven household, we've always had two brewers on hand... a carafe brewer as well as a K-cup pod brewer. We use the pods first thing in the morning prior to brewing a carafe, or for an evening cup after a meal. We use the carafe every day to keep the fuel lines running. Being able to combine these two brewers into a single device saves so much space on our countertop. The fact that this unit is also driven by Alexa is a huge plus for us, as we have a Smarthome and Alexa is the hub controller for everything. Once this unit was added to the network (which took about a minute,) I was able to add a brew routine to our morning routine with ease. You can use verbal cues to start and operate the coffeemaker at other times, but that's a little bit over the top even for us. There's one caveat that's not clearly defined in the Quick Start Guide: once the pot has been prepared to brew (either a pod or carafe) at a later time, you MUST press the "Ready to Brew" button on the interface to turn it green. This button is not normally lit unless the brewer is on, so as long as you know it's in the lower right corner of the display, you're fine. The coffee maker does have a Bold or Normal brew setting, which does have an impact on the strength of the brew for either a carafe or pods. The system uses different water tanks for each brewer. Pouring water into the carafe-side is SO easy... finally, a manufacturer created a brewer with a large open area to pour into! UPDATE: We started having problems with a "Needle" error when using the Pod setting. I eventually figured out that the BOLD setting for the Pod pauses during the brew cycle just long enough for the needle to become clogged, forcing you to remove the needle assembly and clean it out with a toothpick or similar small tool. We quit using the BOLD cycle for Pods, and we no longer have "Needle" errors. The unit is completely quiet and is otherwise very well designed. It makes good coffee in both modes and performs as well as if not better than other brewers that cost several hundred dollars. At this point I have no reservations in recommending this product to others... it's a true win for our household! ... show more

I was sick of having 2 coffee makers to tend, when our Kuerig started making super sized or zero sized coffees I stumbled upon this. We're Alexa people so it was easy to set a schedule for morning coffee, and set a routine to make a single cup. I wondered how this would work, you have to set it up (add the coffee and water) push ready, then you can roll over in the morning and say "Alexa, start the coffee maker" and it's done by the time you get out of the shower! Or have a pod ready to go, she'll do it. The separate water reservoirs are the key. When we have afternoon coffee (pods) I usually run a cup of water after taking the last pod out to flush it and we haven't had any problems. The pod has a holder you grab and dump so you won't get burned. The coffee is hotter and comes out faster than our Keurig did and it's really easy to clean, the whole mess can go on the top rack of the dishwasher. I'm really happy with this, I'd 100% buy it again. I hate screwing with the coffee maker clock, this hits your WiFi and you never have to set the clock again, love it! And you set your schedule on your phone through the Alexa app. Easy. ... show more

  • Loved my old one
Update - do not buy this coffee maker ! 2 issues : frequently drops it WiFi connection in the Amazon Alexa app . Device shows unresponsive and the only way to reconnect it is to remove it from the Amazon Alexa list and reinstall it ! Secondly : I have been unable to make more than 2 or 3 pods before the coffee maker errors and says the needle is clogged . My old one never did this even after years of use . It’s obvious that there is a water pump that isn’t powerful enough to clear coffee grinds as well as a poor needle design . Unfortunately my return window closed by the time my patience ran out . Get a keurig ) old review : This is the 3rd Flex brew coffee maker that I’ve owned. My last one was the same as this one although without Alexa integration . I loved my prior ones . They all lasted about 5 years each with multiple uses each day . This one so far ? Not so much . The pros : 1) removable water reservoir for k cup 2) size and layout . 3) heated pot area 4) Programable 5) Alexa integration . 6) price . Cons : 1) no removable reservoir on pot side . 2) no water level indicator on the glass pot side like prior models 3) water level for 12 cups on the pot as well as the reservoir is so close to overflowing that it’s pretty hard not to spill some . 4) the deal breaker con ? Mine takes over 25 minutes to make a whole pot . My last one was 12 . It takes forever . It is an actual drip - not a stream . And on mine , pulling out the pot while brewing slows the flow but doesn’t stop it completely . And finally … give us back physical buttons . Touch sensitive controls are terrible on low end appliances like these . Not to mention they almost always look dirty with finger prints. So at least make it less glossy to help hide that . The conclusion ? I recently tried to reach out to the manufacturer to inquire as to whether or not I have a defective machine. If I don’t get a response soon , I will just return this as defective . I’m honestly not sure If I would buy this again or recommend it . I always try and be fair with my reviews . So I will update this review when and if things change . ( updated review : one additional software bug : the time will randomly display in military time when it hits midnight . The clock shows 0:00 am until 1 am ) update 5/15/24 : customer service is terrible . They offer no help except to send you instruction manual screenshots on how to unclog the machine .   • Good coffee maker when it works!
Is a heads up, Hamilton Beach made ne pay $20.00 to ship a replacement coffee maker to me because ours stopped working after 6 months. Great coffee maker when it works. But first time I ever had to pay to have a replacement shipped if it was inside the warranty time frame. Will definitely keep that in mind when purchasing other Hamilton Beach products!! ... show more
