Without naming the other brand I’m comparing this Hamilton flex brew trio. The other brand was very expensive $200+. This was $80. Other brand had a carafe that no matter how carefully you poured the coffee it spilled everywhere and made a mess. Hamilton is well designed and no mess pouring. I’ll start with the bad which is not bad but I would prefer the display to be brighter or able to adjust. In my opinion that is the only bad thing and I wouldn’t even say it’s a bad thing. It is easy to set up the clock, make coffee in the carafe or single serve. For the carafe all you do is pour the water in the carafe side for the amount of coffee you want. Ex if you want 10 cups you pour water to the 10 cup line if you want 12 cups you pour water to the 12 cup line. Put the amount of coffee to you preference in a filter and press Brew. Easy as that. Same as the single serve. I use a measuring cup with a spout for the single serve. I put the amount of water in the cup I’m using for the single serve in to the spouted measuring cup then pour it in the water side for single serve. This keeps the water from going everywhere from using the mug. Put any brand of pod (K cup or generic can be used unlike the other expensive brand). Press the single serve button and brew. You have a delicious cup of coffee. Or you can use the filtered basket that comes with the set and use your ground coffee in that. I’ve tried all three. Very easy and versatile. I was concerned after reading some of the reviews about the temperature of the coffee. The coffee is very hot with all three ways of brewing. It has a two hour shut off timer for the carafe. While the carafe is on the burner it stays very hot all two hours. Very pleased with the temperature it stays at. If I’m needing it to stay on longer than the two hours I don’t add more water but push the brew button again and it resets the timer. WARNING I do not know if this is bad for the Hamilton but I have not had any problems doing this. It is very easy to set the program timer. Just press and hold the clock button until it blinks 1900 then set the program time as preferred. You only need to do this once if you’re going to leave it at the same time every day. So if you want it to brew 5:00am set the program timer for that. Set up the coffee carafe side and press program and it’s set. You cannot set the timer program for the single serve but I couldn’t with the other brand either. Not a big deal or dealbreaker. All three brewing ways take a little bit longer to brew but not much at all. Again not a deal breaker. For all the Hamilton has to offer at a very affordable price compared to a couple minutes with the very expensive one I don’t mind. And if you set the program timer the couple minutes don’t matter. The Hamilton seems very durable and well designed. My only regret was I did not buy this long ago. But I’m glad I bought the other expensive one then this Hamilton affordable one. Proves by experience money doesn’t always buy quality. If needed I would buy this Hamilton over the other(s) any day!!!!!

Model 49902JN ... its the 2026 model as the 49902 is the 2021 older model that received mixed reviews. I figure they had time to correct certain issues. Size, compared to the Cuisinart dual brew, the Hamilton trio is a tad bit deeper but not enough to be an issue, I do like there is a lil tuckaway for the power cord. I tested water temp on both sides and I'm happy to say that the single serve side reached 187* , very hot. using a 20oz mug with the 14oz setting, actually spit out 15oz of water during my test...x 2 . On the pot side, 10 cups took about 10 mins and water temps in the pot was 180*, again very nice. It has a hole in the rear of the water holding tank on the brew side so you cannot over fill it. The area is much larger making it easier to fill unlike the Cuisinart. The coffee pot pours very nicely, no dribbling. So tomorrow will be the test and hopefully this coffee maker will last a little longer than previous ones I've owned. Now here is something worth noting... I can understand why AI was confused in what paper filter it uses. The brew side is your basic round flat filter whereas the single serve with the small 1-2 cup option looks like to take a #1 cone with the flat bottom, not the v tip. Speaking of filters... I'm not sure if it was a oversight or not, but usually the mfg sends a couple paper filters with their machines, I did not get anything. BUT... they did include a instruction booklet

So Far So Good

Update #1: 09/30/2022 - I say #1, because based on the track record of this unit, I'm going to do a later update. We bought it because we love the option of either a pot or single cup for the price. Pros: - pot/cup option - height; our cabinets are 19.25" from the countertop. I can fill the cup reservoir without moving the machine. - brews relatively quick, but not as quickly as our former Keurig because it does not maintain a hot water reservoir. It heats it when you want it. - pot coffee is consistent and tasty Cons: - (kind of a con) you have to use a little more force to close the single cup pod lid because it is not leveraged like a Keurig, it just pushes straight down on the pod. - the cup side threw a "needle clogged" code the first time we tried it. It was new and not clogged. I unplugged it from power and plugged it back in and it never did that again. Note: The unit uses a rubber seal on top of the k-cup (picture). We use a damp napkin to wipe the rubber seal periodically. If you don't, it will likely get dried coffee on it and lose its seal, which looks like was the problem some had. If you use a k-cup that does not have a good foil top for that seal to press against, it may not seal well. As you can see, I'm cheap and use Walmart cups and they work fine. It's a little noisier than a Keurig, but you get used to it. UPDATE #2 12/02/2022 Still no issues, works great. As I said the only thing you need to do to keep it working properly is take a napkin and wipe the K-cup seal after each use. That takes about 2 seconds and I don't find that to be an inconvenience for the price. I still definitely recommend it. UPDATE #3 11/23/2023 Still works great, however, I found one thing that can change things. We had two pods burst past the top seal making a grounds mess. After some investigation, I found that some pods have the inner filter sitting lower in the pod than others. This means the needle pierces that which then clogs the needle. The water then has to go somewhere so it bypasses the seal on top. So, if you have an issue with a certain type/brand, avoid it. My wife claims the other (bad) pods works okay in her work Keurig. I suspect that may be due to the needle in a Keurig being slightly shorter.

I bought this same coffee pot 8 years ago. Used it every day and it just started leaking. So I purchased another. I looked at many brands and decided it was for me. Not a lot of pro gaming and makes good coffee. It is a great pot.

This purchase was made long ago. We are still using it daily. I can't believe it's held up this long!! It was well worth the money. The color keeps like new. Brewing capacity is enough for us. I find the single cup brews faster. I think the fine coffee that I brew does better on the single serve side. Regular ground coffee is excellent for the pot.

Actually makes a decent sized cup of coffee from the single serve

Actually makes a full real cup of coffee (not the dainty thimble sized cups) from the Kpod side, and quickly too! The fill reservoir is nice, since it speeds up my caffeination. I had the previous generation of this one for 5 years or so and used it daily to make pots/pods, etc. So I went with old faithful. This generation is a little bit bigger so it eats up more of my counter space, and the lid for the carafe side is long and flimsy so it doesn't stay up on its own like the last version, also the new carafe seems dainty and fragile so we'll see if it stands the test of time. Those are my small complaints, but so far it has been an upgrade from the previous model.

This is my 2nd one in past 10 yrs. Very happy with it. Quiet. Easy to clean. Quickly makes full pots or single cups. I hope I'm always able to get this product. Attractive with stainless steel on front. Hamilton Beach continues to be a quality company.
