The kit that I received looks slightly different from the one in the picture. I received the gold color. I don't really like the black and gold color combination, so I am happy with the gold and silver combination. The set came with two additional cutting tools that are not included in the picture. In addition to the hair cutting scissors and hair shears, my set came with a razor, and what appears to be a tool to assist with cutting edges. It also came with two steel duck bill clips and a dusting brush. It is such a small thing, but I actually prefer plastic duck bill clips because the metal ones rust. I also received a different comb than what is pictured. The hair cutting tools are all heavy duty and well constructed. They are well made from a thick solid metal. The scissors are comfortable for my hands. They have a very attractive design to them. With the exception of the two combs, which are made from a cheap, flimsy plastic, the quality of these hair cutting tools far exceeded my expectations. The tools have been coated in a special material to help prevent them from rusting. While I appreciate the coating, I wished the manufacturers would have used a stainless steel instead of the special coating. I prefer stainless steel scissors. I cut a piece of my own hair to test out the scissors. I do not think the scissors are sharp enough straight out of the box for my hair texture. The blade on the scissors seemed a bit dull. I already have the proper tools to sharpen scissors, so that is not a huge problem for me. Although I was able to cut my hair with these scissors AS IS, I am accustomed to sharper and more precise blades. My concern is that a duller blade might cause my ends to split. I do think these are good quality scissors, they will just work better for me if I sharpen them. The cape was just okay. The cape is made from a lower-quality polyester material. It is the typical cape that you will find in non-fancy hair salons. It is quite large. It is large enough to fit a taller person, which is good thing. It would be much too large for a small child. I am 5"2, and the cape hits about 3 inches above my ankles. For such a big cape, the neckties are too short and they were uneven. This is an obvious manufacturing defect. The ties on one side of my cape measures 8 and 1/2 inches, the other side measured 7 inches. I also think the strings are disproportionately short for a cape this size. I do not believe the ties are long enough for someone with a larger neck or a larger frame. I think the ties should be at least 14 inches long. While these are not professional grade hair scissors and shears, with some sharpening, I believe that they will be good for providing trims and home hair cuts. $20 for everything that is included in this set is an exceptional bargain for anyone on a tight budget. I think the quality of these tools exceed the asking price.

I ordered this set mainly for the Scissors. Trying to cut hair with normal household Scissors is quite a hard task. I needed something designed to cut hair that will snip every hair every chop. This hair cutting set delivered exactly what I needed. I can extend out the hair I need to cut and with one snip catch every hair right where i want. No stragglers, no sliding down the blade, just SNIP and done. The blades are adjustable so you can tighten the scissors if any looseness arises. I wasn't sure what to expect given that this set is so reasonably priced, but I'm very happy with the Scissors. The set does come with a few extra tools like thinning Scissors, a thinning blade, and a straight razor that is half traditional style and half disposable razor style. Kinda cool. There are hair clips, a barber cape, and a soft zippered case to contain all the tools. For someone cutting hair at home, or aspiring barbers I think this is a great kit.

I've started cutting my husband's hair to save money and I'm amazed at how much easier it is to cut hair with actual hair scissors. These are very sharp and provide a nice even cut. I love how all of the tools like a comb, hair clips, razor, scissors, and shears all come in a neat gold zipper case so that everything stays together nicely. It also comes with black capes to protect your clothes from hair. I plan on trying to cut my own split ends with these scissors next. Great price for a high-quality product!

Being a stylist for over 20 years now I can honestly say that for the price this is an incredible deal! Both shears are extremely comfortable due to the curved finger rest. They are lightweight and cut the hair very easily. They can also be adjusted to your liking by simply tightening or loosening the screws. Both razors have blades that can be replaced once they become dull. Each one comes with one blade. You also get a cape, two combs, a dusting brush, a cloth to wipe down your shears after each use, a beautiful gold case that is very durable and two duckpins. Everything you could possibly need to give someone a nice trim or cut.

I got this set primarily because I needed new hair shears and thinning shears. Both shears feel like quality construction and are very comfortable to hold. They squeaked a little until I oiled them, but otherwise worked well. Both are very sharp and cut hair without any resistance. The plastic combs are functional, but pretty thin and flimsy. I don't have use for the thinning knife or straight razor, but both are sharp and would cut well.

This is a perfect kit for $26. My wife has been having me trim her hair at home instead of going to the salon because something about not wanting to pay an arm and a leg for an inch of hair to be trimmed. This has everything that is needed, including really nice scissors. It also has a straight razor too if you are into that. For the price, it has everything you need!
