Can it be used for a saltwater pool? Yes, the Warmblu pool heat pump is equipped with a titanium heat exchanger, which offers excellent corrosion resistance, making it fully suitable for use with saltwater pools. Does the pool heat pump heat the pool quickly? Heat pumps are highly energy-efficient, not instant. Initial heating, especially in cooler weather, can take 36+ hours, but they use far less electricity than other electric heaters for long-term operation. What should I pay attention to when using the pool heat pump in winter? For best winter performance, we recommend: 1.Use a pool cover to reduce heat loss from temperature swings. 2.Choose a heat pump one size larger than your pool normally requires, to ensure efficient heating in cold weather. Is professional installation required? For optimal safety and performance, we recommend professional installation. If you are experienced, self-installation is an option. Delivery was quick and set up was easy. I set the unit up on Wednesday at 8 PM and set it to 80°. It said to allow 48 to 72 hours, but surprisingly 24 hours later my pool was already very warm! As of Thursday at 5 PM my pool is currently 81°! My pool is filled with well water which is very cold!! Before the heater my pool was 70°! I am beyond impressed and excited! I am ready to swim on these cool Iowa days!

Works great for 18' x 48" pool! (H7 model)

I bought this for a bestway 18'x48" , 6100 gallon pool. When I first hooked it up the pool was 67 degrees. It took a while, but ran it continous for four days and it was up to 86 degrees with ambient temps varying from 70 at night to 78-80 during the day. Now I run the pump 12 hours a day just for water clarity and to maintain the heat. I keep the pool at a perfect 88 degrees even when the outside temps dip into the 60s at night! It also has the ability to cool the pool if you put it on "cool" or "auto" mode by holding the settings key and the up arrow key for 5 seconds and then let off the up arrow key first it changes modes. Then it switches from heat (sun icon) to cool (snowflake icon) or auto (A) icon. The compressor switches the flow and it then will pump cool water. I've used that a few times when the pool got up over 91 degrees! I'm running a flow rate of about 40-42 gallons per minute and have a valve inline to regulate it. Optimum rate. I highly recommend!

Excellent Pool Heating & Cooling Unit

I already knew inverter technology is superior to standard single stage heat pumps but I was concerned at the companies claim this pool heater could heat up to 21,000 gallons. I installed myself, actually very simple. Running the a new electric circuit through the attic was challenging at 70 yrs old but I survived. Making the concrete pad was no fun either but I prefer to do things my way. The re-piping of the pool pump to the heater was easy enough but you should draw out what you need and make certain you enough fittings (mainly 90 degree), Tees and valves. The valves are critical because depending on the pump revolutions per minutes (RPMs) you may to reduce the water flow coming out of the heater. Each model has a different gallons per minute (gpm) requirement. The unit comes with an MPa gauge, is a type of pressure gauge that measures pressure in megapascals (MPa) on the back and you want the water pressure to stay in the Green zone. Lower the number on the gauge means high water flow but less heat transfer on the water discharge. It means if the water flow is to high/fast the is moving too fast to absorb the heat, so valve is needed on the heater discharge water line to slow the water flow down. See picture. When re-piping your system, you want to install a 3-way valve to the line coming out of your filter. This valve will do 2-things: 1- allow you divert water to the pool and to the heater, 2- allow you to isolate the heater and maintain water flow to the pool. I installed a second 3-way vale on the water line going into the heater to allow me to drain water out of the pool. Then installed a standard valve on the water discharge of the heater to adjust the water flow. If your water flow is too high the heater will produce a lot of condensation and drain out of the bottom. The unit comes with a key pad but the Smart Life App makes it a lot easier. Setting up the App was frustrating. You have to link your phone with the Heater and it uses WiFi (not Bluetooth). The heater becomes a Network and you have to connect your phone to that network, then you open the Smart Life App, Add a new device, select smart heat pump, it will ask for network, you will select your home Wifi, enter your password and it will download the heater. What's really nice about this heater, it also cools down the water temperature, yes heating & cooling. Here in Florida that's important because the pool water can go into the low 90 degrees. For my pool (13,000 gallons) it only took 24 hours to reach 86 degrees from 70 degrees. When the heater is running, it only uses 6-amps of energy or 1,300 watts = 1.3 kW which how your electric bill is charged. Using $.06 per kW, .06x1.3= $.078 per hour. If you run your pump 8 hours a day, that's $.62 a day or $18.72 per month. Also, when installing the PVC pipe and fittings, especially the 3-way valves make certain you have them going the right direction and install Unions in you piping to make it easier in the future to work on your system.

Junk! We had one and it worked for about a week. Husband called technical support and they were very helpful and sent a replacement. Husband spent 5 hours setting the new one up and it doesn’t work. Goes immediately to 3e which is an error message. Don’t waste your time or money!

This has been a great surprise. It can heat and cool the pool.and living in the Mojave Desert that is what we needed. For a 18'x10'x48" above ground pool it takes 2-3 days to warm up the water from high 70'a to high 80's unless using a solar cover then it can help keep temp over the cooler nights. Easy to program I have used the wifi and it worked well. Would purchase again. Uncovered keeps the pool temp in low 80's so not as long to get it to the mid to high 80's.

Swimming Pool Heat Pump

It is not something that I turn on for a few minutes and then expect the pool to be ready right away by the time I do so. It is most effective when I prepare ahead and allow it to run in a steady manner. As soon as I became used to that beat, it became simple for me to handle. Depending on the weather and the time of day that we want to go swimming, I often begin the process of cleaning our pool either earlier in the day or the evening before. When we finally get around to using the pool, the water has a quality that is far more appealing and consistent than it had previously. Among the components that have proven to be the most helpful in day-to-day usage is the smart WiFi control. In spite of the fact that I did not anticipate relying on it as often as I do, the fact that I am able to monitor and adjust the unit without having to go outside every time is quite useful. Even when I am occupied with other things within the home, I am still able to keep an eye on the setting and make little adjustments as required. Especially when the amount of time spent in the pool varies from day to day, this makes the heat pump seem more manageable to live with. The size of our pool is within the range that is specified, and the heat pump has been able to manage it well while the weather outside is rather pleasant. My expectations were met, despite the fact that it takes longer to make a perceptible impact on days when the temperature is lower or the wind is stronger. We are more inclined to utilize the pool on days when the temperature is moderate since the water is pleasant enough for us to occupy it rather than avoiding it. It is precisely in this area that we have found this product to be of great value. Because of this, the pool may be used for many practical purposes, and swimming will seem less reliant on the weather being ideal.

Adapters are garbage and installation sucks - wifi range is absymal - but BOY does it make heat!

Everyone here says installation is easy. I have a ton of “standard” pool tubes from Intex and bestway. They are relatively universal and have fit on everything that says 1.5” pool connections. I realize plumbing tubes are generally different dimensions slightly but since this is a pool heater and everyone says installation took 5 minutes to just “screw on the tubes” my family was really looking forward to this…. Not only did no one in the reviews I read mention it must be installed on flat ground (not a big deal, but why not list that as a requirement on the product page???) the adapters this H7 unit came with seem to be a millimeter or two smaller than my standard Intex/bestway tubes. The nuts on my tubes seem to start threading ok, but the moment any resistance occurs from tightening it just pops off completely like magic. Both adapters do this - and I tried SIX different tubs and nuts and just felt crazy. The unit itself MIGHT be great, but from and installation standpoint I’m pretty let down by this product. The inlet and outlet sizes are tiny, which might mess up my overall flow for my salt water system - but since I had to spend a few hours designing my own 3D adapter to then wait longer to print - I can’t even address that issue yet. It’s almost as if Warmblu was intentionally misleading by NOT providing pictures of the actual inlet and outlet, adapters, and other information (even on their own website)… I’m still excited to see if this thing works but I have to say, my appeal and desire for this heater is at a minimum now due to the installation and problems I’m now realizing I will be facing in the near future from flow issues. Update: After spending some time designing and printing my own adapters from standard US Pool tubes to this 34mm inlet and outlet on the H7 unit I have - I also ran into the wifi being really terrible. I literally took my access point and got a long patch cable to bring the AP right next to the unit (about 6 feet away) so I could finally get it to see wifi and connect. I have several other 2.4ghz and one 5ghz device close to where the heater is installed and they do not have signal or range issues. So after the heater was running with the new adapters I printed - I spend some time fabricating a dry location for an access point so I could control my H7 unit with Home Assistant. The drivers available thought this was a varminfin pool heater for some reason but that doesn't show the cooling mode. So I used some AI tokens to generate a yaml file that exposes all the tuya endpoints and have it working as I hoped from the onset of my purchase. The wifi is really terrible range - and maybe that's because it has a compressor/fan - but adding some antannaes to it should have been considered in it's design in that case. The only reason I've increased my score from 1 to 3 stars is because as a heater - this thing is crazy good. While I was in the pool yesterday the return water was VERY warm in comparison to the overall pool temp. In roughly 24 hours the pool has increased over 10 degrees F (with solar cover on) and it's only 80 degrees outside. The pool is almost at 90 degrees this morning. THAT is impressive and if the adapters had worked and wifi didn't have such terrible range - I absolutely would give this more stars.

Inexpensive quiet unit from China, so far, so good.

Arrived intact, on time, in late August, in a sturdy double wall box with no handles. Carrier left it on the driveway instead of the front porch. It is HEAVY and awkward, without handles on the package. Moved it to site with a hand truck. Unpacking was very cumbersome and ultimately required cutting the boxes to free the machine without tipping it. Inside it was in new condition, a simple white cube, no obvious damage. Installation this weekend (Sept 12) was straight forward with simple instructions. It comes with two plastic adapters, with o-ring seals, and clamps- suitable for connection to black pond tubing. Recommended distance from the water is 10', each way, and it must be installed on a stand to get the recommended ground clearance. The provided cord-mounted GFCI is too large to fit inside a standard outdoor power box with the typical plastic outlet covers, which requires therefore a 20 amp rated outdoor cord to adapt it. The unit draws 17 amps. My outlet is already GFCI so the unit's plug is unnecessary. I'm using a suitably over-sized pond-pump to supply water. Programming is at the control panel, a simple user interface with a few buttons and a small screen. Screen displays water temp and icons for heating/cooling mode. The unit powers up and in heating mode you set the desired set temperature. In my case the water was 61 F to start and I set a target of 68F. Outdoor ambient was 75F to start and dropped overnite to the high 40's, then back to the 60's in the next afternoon. Water temp rose to 66F in about 22 hours of continuous operation in the moderately circulated pond, despite current lack of an insulating cover on the water, and the unit is continuing to heat toward setpoint. Local humidity ranged from 47% to 90% Unit runs quietly, sounding like a small air conditioner running on low-setting. The unit's plastic fan quietly ejects (cold) air to the side rather than from the top. Condensate drains from the bottom of the cabinet. No fitting was provided to attach a drain tube. I have not yet seen the unit frost up or defrost and have not yet tried its 'cooling' function so I cannot comment on those yet. I have not yet installed the remote-control app, but it does come with instructions for setup with android or iphone. Minimal information is provided in these as to what the app would do for you. It would be nice if it reported kwh of power usage. So far so good, it appears to be a good little unit. Time will tell more as to durability and energy use. UPDATE: 10/3. The unit continues to run quietly. The APP is very minimal and was slow to get working properly. APP only shows Mode (heating/cooling), current temp, and set temp. It does NOT indicate alarm code(s) (if any are active) or even if the unit is running or not running, nor current power usage, nor any temperature history or power history, all of which should be readily available. The unit's thermostat has a very wide dead-band of about 3 degrees F. It should be made adjustable, IMO since large pools take a long time to change temperature by 3 degrees F. Low flow sensor does shut the unit down (as intended) and when flow is restored, it starts it back up. The unit does visibly frost up overnight on cooler nights, but seems to recover from that on its own.
