First of all, I have to say that I have never received anything that was packed as well as this safe was. The cardboard carton was double thick! Then they surrounded the safe with thick, high quality foam on all sides. They even put corner guards on the foam packing. Although not high security or fireproof, I remain very impressed with the quality of the safe. The fit and finish, the digital combination, the backup key…all excellent! To install it securely I bolted to a 1 1/2” non-removable shelf with carriage bolts up thru the bottom of the safe. This way, the nuts securing the safe can only be accessed from inside the safe! I also screwed it to the wall thru the back wall of the safe. The only issue that I ran into was that the safe isn’t very deep and the long barrel of my target pistol touched the back wall of the safe. To remedy this problem I added adjustable feet to the gun rack provided with the safe. Changing the angle of the gun rack provided the extra room I needed. To accomplish this, I drilled 4 new hole in the gun rack, installed 5/16” threaded rivet nuts and screwed in 5/16” carriage bolts from the bottom (see photos). After unpacking the safe, very well packed, the set up in the area in my house was a breeze. Fit my gun and extras. Have more room for future arsenal. Setting up the combination was easy after installing the batteries, not supplied. All in all, I am happy with this purchase. I would have given the safe a 5 star rating if the instructions for setting up the combination had included one major point… nowhere does it state that after setting a code and entering it to open the safe , you must push the hashtag button.
