You need to select the right tarp for your application whether you are covering a canopy, carport, construction job, tent frame, outdoor event, yard project or wedding. [Construction]Poly Tarps are typically made of multiple layers with a woven mesh fabric sandwiched between two or more polyethylene sheets. [Reference Parameter]Tarp Thickness– This is the actual thickness of the tarp measured in mils (1/1000 of an inch). The larger the number, the thicker the tarp. Typical light weight tarps found in most retail or hardware stores are about 4~6 mils. If you are planning a heavy duty use, such as covering a carport, consider a heavy duty tarp at 10 to 12 mils. Reinforcement– Tarps have additional reinforcement around the perimeter of the tarp to help prevent ripping and tearing.Perimeter rope– This is a rope which has been sewn inside the hem at the edge of the tarp to add reinforcement strength to the tarp.Hem– The hem is formed by folding the edge of the tarp back onto the tarp and then stitching the entire hemmed area. My only complaint is that good tarps are so expensive. I am using this tarp to cover the top of a travel trailer that has a water leak. Love that it has plenty of grommets. Had a neighbor put it on and secure it. I was hoping they were going to use bungee cords, but the larger bungee cords are quite expensive. So the neighbor used gallon water bottles. Makes me cringe a bit, but it's working for now. The trailer is in the Florida Sun, so not sure how long the tarp will last. Hoping to get a few years out of it. The tarp held up pretty well to mulch. I'm pretty happy with the purchase. When using on 50/50 mix the shoveling did cause somewhere and tear. However this was to be expected and the holes can be taped up. Pretty sure this is the best bang for the buck

I bought this to cover patio equipment to survive winter. The silver side up to reflect radiant heat away from the wood. Everyone needs to cover something sometimes. Tarps are the cheap "quick fix" item to have around the house. Imagine a leak in the upstairs bathroom - the tarp could be laid on the floor and furniture to protect/catch the leaking water.
