Description

Groz 39007 7-inch woodworking quick action vise. The body and front plates are manufactured from close grain cast iron. Each vise has an accurately machined housing for smooth sliding movement and true parallel action of side or Cross movement. The main steel screw has buttress thread for smooth and responsive adjustment, along with guide Rods. The guide Rods and handle are chrome plated to resist corrosion. This vise is equipped with a quick release mechanism that is very useful for repetitive work situations. Vise is equipped with adjustable heavy duty plastic front dog which allows over size work pieces to be secured. Vise mounts below Bench surface. Mounting hardware not included.

If the handle is in a vertical position and you let go, sometimes the end will pop off. It can be tapped back on but this is not the quality I expexcted. Otherwise it's a great vise.

    • Flimsy plastic parts

Although this appears to be an otherwise solidly made vise, I'm giving it 1 star because the vise dog is made of plastic! And it's not even a solid piece of bar stock. So the first thing you'll have to do after you install the vise is to buy a piece of steel or brass or aluminum and machine it to fit, if you can, as well as drilling and tapping it for the dog clamp screw. ... show more

    • What a nightmare.

What a disappointment. The handle fell off before I could finish the installation Amazon sent me a new vise without question. The handle fell off of the new one. I tried super glue to secure the ends onto the handle. That worked for a few days. I tried to solder the ends but that doesn’t work on stainless steel. Then I tried epoxy which held for a couple of days. Next I will have to try drilling the handle and installing some bolts to keep it from falling out. There is also a pull-up stop on the vise. The threads on this are also improperly cut and will not tighten. So I took it apart and installed new things myself. Finally, the two tops on the vise did not line up. I was able to correct this with a belt sander. Save your money. Buy something else. ... show more

    • Be very wary of the Groz quick release vise!!!!!

The vise either has a very bad design or I recieved a defective product. Since I had modified my bench to accept this item, I was very reluctant to remove it and return it. Bad choice on my part. The QR apparatus does not slide easily and does not hold under pressure of tightning. I tried to use it after removing the release mechanics and after immobilizing the worm bolt completely, it still releases under pressure. The 20% rebate from Amazon was not satisfactory and the inability to contact the company is unacceptable. ... show more

The casting is quite poor. The vise is made in India. The faces are not true and out of alignment due to the poor casting. The mechanisms are not machined very well. Had one end of the handle fall off. Apparently during manufacture, the end was stripped as it was put on. There were very few threads. Ended up reworking and putting on a net with lock washer, a far cry from the smooth end that should be there. The vise does not operate very smoothly. Good luck getting the quick release to work again if you take it apart to install the vise on you bench. It will never work again. I regret getting this vise and do not recommend. ... show more
