  • Happy with first electric mower purchase
Size: 21"Corded Mower
Received the mower today so this review is based on first time use. Assembly is super simple, consists of attaching top portion of handle bar and tightening of two bolts, and also tightening of two bolts of lower portion of push bar. Would not make sense to pay for professional assembly with this mower. The frame is made of metal and heavy, which is a relief as review of other electric mower I crossed shopped have plastic body or not sturdy. It’s almost as heavy as other gas powered mowers I have used in the past, but still easy enough to mow without self-propulsion. The motor is powerful and cuts the lawn with ease in mulching mode. Another review claims this model comes with brushless motor, but I couldn’t locate this spec in the Amazon item description l. I had new sod installed over 3 weeks ago and have very thick and tall grass prior to cutting today. Had no issue powering through and didn’t encounter any instance where the motor loses rpm in mulching mode. Height adjustment settings is easy, but I would only use the top two highest settings otherwise the grass would be cut way too short. Highest height would be medium or medium high for other gas powered mowers I have used in the past. Just a note to other prospective buyers but this isn’t an issue for me. The hopper for collecting grass is on the smaller side, but I am mulching so not applicable in my use case. I opt for corded version and expected minor inconvenience from managing the power cord during mowing. Turned out to be fairly easy to manage while mowing the small ~1500 sq ft yard. If you have outdoor electrical outlet and the yard is on the smaller side, save yourself some headache with batteries and go with the corded version. Durability is unknown since I’ve only used it once after received the mower less than 2 hours ago. The body is sturdy and the motor is powerful, so I feel this mower has solid build quality and if the motor and electrical wiring holds up, it should last for a while. Noise level is lower than gas powered mowers, but no no means is the operation quiet. Gone is the foul smell from gas engine exhaust, which as an allergy sufferer I appreciate greatly. This is my first electric mower after having used gas powered push mowers and riding mowers for 30+ years. Overall I am happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • An electric mower for the masses...
Size: 21"Corded Mower
Purchased this for a new home. Wanted to reduce noise level and try something different. Cord management: Yeah, it's kind of a pain. But after a week or two of regular use, you get the hang of it. You've just got to learn your instrument. Starting: Easy. Push a button and pull back on a handle. Instant start. How does it mow? Better than a gas mower. This thing has eaten through five yard's worth of high grass and weeds without so much as a whimper. It has NEVER stopped, how matter how big a bite of weeds/grass I took. When mowing high grass, just press down on the handle, move the mower forward, and lower the blade directly over the grass. Easy peasy. It's light weight makes mowing easier (if it weren't for the cord, it's light weight feels like your using a reel mower). Is it quieter than a gas mower? A little bit. Make no mistake, it still sounds like a lawnmower. But a slightly more refined, less in-yo-face, mower. No gas or oil required; just a long extension cord or two. And if it breaks, I don't have to cry because my $300+ mower bit the dust. Inexpensive, but it definitely doesn't feel cheap. Also, the single lever blade-height adjustment is something that's been a long-time coming. SOMEBODY SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT ONE YEARS AGO... GreenWorks has put a lot of brainal horsepower behind the design of this mower, and it shows. I'm a fan. Highly recommended. EDIT 9/27/2018: I found my only gripe about this mower: The clippings bag is too small. I'm used to larger bags that require emptying less often. Still, the bag works okay, but if you're mowing a lot, expect to empty the bag a lot. Also, the bag does taper toward the opening, which creates a jam point when emptying. This means you have to grab the clippings to pull them out of the bag. Otherwise, you'll be standing there all day trying to shake the clippings out of the bag. A minor annoyance, but not enough to dock a star. After an entire season of mowing some dense and very tall grass/weeds, this thing is still going strong. EDIT 11/2/2021: After 3-1/2 years, my GreenWorks is still going strong. Other than an occasional cleaning, the only thing I've done for it is to purchase a new blade that will go on next season (spring 2022). The absolute best money I've ever spent for a lawn mower. ... show more

  • Powerful and Efficient, but Battery Life Falls Short
Size: 21" SP Mower (2x5.0Ah)
I recently started using the Greenworks Electric Lawn Mower that I purchased some time back and overall, I am quite satisfied with its performance. It has some impressive features and functions, but there is one aspect that leaves room for improvement. One of the standout qualities of this mower is its power. It effortlessly cuts through the grass, delivering a clean and even finish. I appreciate that it operates quietly, without the noise and fumes associated with gas-powered mowers. The Greenworks Electric Lawn Mower truly lives up to its promise of being environmentally friendly. However, there is one area where this mower falls a bit short—the battery life. While the included batteries are decent, they tend to drain quickly when tackling tall or dense grass. If you have a large yard with high grass, you may find yourself needing to recharge or swap out batteries more frequently than desired. This can be a minor inconvenience and disrupt the flow of your mowing session. I will say in all fairness that my grass was really long. It was able to cut through it with good power. Nevertheless, despite the battery limitation, the Greenworks Electric Lawn Mower remains a reliable and powerful tool for maintaining a well-groomed lawn. If you have a smaller yard or regularly mow your grass before it grows too tall, the battery life may not be a significant issue for you. ... show more
