  • Works great
Size: 1" Cut (2.0Ah)
This trimmer works really well, and the battery pack lasts quite awhile. Sure beats trimming my shrubs manually. I woul definately buy it again.

  • Excellent design and works perfectly
Size: 1" Cut (Tool Only)
This is my first trimmer. It did not disappoint. I need to get better with shaping some of the bushes, but I love the design of this tool. Good safety features requiring both hands to operate and save your fingers. It does make short work of drip lines so be careful of that. With the design you can rotate it to either side and still operate the safety switch. No complaints here. ... show more

  • Holding up well
Size: 1" Cut (2.0Ah)
Got this for high hedge, extra reach, no cord. Husband loves all that but says it does get heavy by the end of his 40’ run. Battery lasts through this. He no longer uses the little corded one.

  • Great purchase; couldn't be happier
Size: 1" Cut (Tool Only)
I love this tool. Smooth cutting, great ergonomics and safety. Lightweight and effective. I have several Greenworks 40V tools; I just interchange the batteries on the charger and keep working. Highly recommend!

  • Nice tool, but doesn't live up to it's rated one inch capacity.
Size: 1" Cut (Tool Only)
Short answer: This 40v Greenworks hedge trimmer struggled to cut green brush much over one half inch thick in my limited test. The swivel handle feature is nice for vertical trimming, the controls are convenient, it comes with a blade shield, and the battery is (finally) exposed enough for easier removal. Should be fine for trimming thinner material, but I was expecting it to efficiently cut through green branches up to the one inch thick capacity it is rated for. I use a hedge trimmer on trees branches, shrubs, bushes, weeds, and brush, so am frequently encountering branches a half inch thick and bigger. Yes, I have other tools for thick branches, but having a hedge trimmer with one inch cutting capacity would offer advantages over other options: it’s far safer than anything with a moving chain, which also catches small branches and throws chains; and is much faster than one branch at a time pruners. So I ordered this bare tool Greenworks 40v hedge trimmer because it is rated at one inch cutting capacity, theoretically way more than the .6 inch rated capacity of my 36v Makita hedge trimmer, and even more than the .75 inch rated 20v DeWalt trimmer. By the way, the DeWalt seems to cut significantly thicker branches than the Makita in side by side comparisons, more so than the rated capacities would suggest. I didn’t test the Greenworks side by side with the other two, but my impression was that it was well below the DeWalt’s performance. I took the new Greenworks trimmer and a battery out to trim some bushes. It cut small stuff fine, but started struggling with anything over about half an inch thick. For cutting hard, dead wood, anything over 1/4 or 3/8 inch thick would likely jam, which happens in my other trimmers as well. The openings between the cutters measure right at one inch, but the reciprocating blade makes it difficult if not impossible for larger branches to enter the cutting slots. By holding the trimmer against a larger branch, it may eventually nibble its way through, but even that may not work if the branch can flex enough to bounce away from the cutters. The battery compartment is much more open than on my other Greenworks tools, making battery removal easier, a much needed improvement (I glued nylon strap loops to my batteries to help with removal from my other tools). But the limited cutting capacity, realistically much less than the rated one inch in my experience, is a major disappointment. Trimming tips. Frequently spray the cutting bar with lube to keep it slick and free from sticky tree sap. Hitting a hard object, typically wire, will damage a blade, or probably, two blades. If there is a burr (or two), it can cause further scratching and damage between the blades. A rotary tool (aka Dremel) with a ball shaped grinding stone can quickly remove the burr and resharpen the nicked area. ... show more
