I moved to a new urban house and downsized my yard by more than 3x. I sold my gas mower and bought a Fiskars reel mower. It sucked. I returned it and bought a Scott's reel mower. It worked OK, but you have to mow the grass every 2 days, then it started missing blades. I returned it. Bought this and a matching weed eater. They work really well. Gas mower cut quality (mostly), lightweight and maneuverable and really easy to get going. The bag catcher works good enough. No complaints so far! My only concern is the battery will eventually suck and need to buy a new one. ... show more

I don't typically write reviews but I needed to because like most of you reading this I was hesitant to take the leap and give this battery powered mower a go. I already own several Greenworks products and had batteries so that was not an issue. The assembly was extremely easy and took about 2 minutes to put together. No gas or oil needed! I put my freshly charged battery in and put the mower to use right away. I was able to mow my entire yard (about 1/4 an acre) with about a battery and a half. This machine is so light compared to my old gas powered mower and so much easier to maneuver. Also, it is so much quieter than what I am used to - I can finally mow early in the morning or later in the evening without disturbing my entire neighborhood. The mower did a great job and I have zero complaints. I usually dread mowing but I look forward to the next time now! BUY THIS! ... show more

I only have used it once since I received it. The lawnmower didn’t come with a charger or a rechargeable battery. But the unit sale price was a good deal. So by time I added a 6 Ahr rechargeable battery and the Greenworks Quick charging unit, the total price for all items was still a good deal. Buying this way(separately the charger, battery, lawnmower), allowed me to get the best performing system. The quick charging Charger, gave the battery a much faster charging up of the high power battery I purchased. The 40 V 6 Ahrs rechargeable battery lasted much longer than the standard 2 Ahrs battery that normally sell as a complete setup at some places. The lawnmower worked fine. There wasn’t much to assemble here. The only negatives I have is the lawn bag is small and due to it mesh material, a lot of dusts and pollens will shoot out from bag; my lawn has a lot of dried dead spots. So I had to wear a mask to mow the lawn. Other than that it cut and maneuver great. It isn’t as noisy as my gas mower and no pollution. A follow up of mower and it accessories: It is now around 6 moths and I have mowed by lawn 3 times and still on original charge. If you wait until your lawn is very tall, then the mower does have to struggle a bit to cut the grass. But still did a good job of cutting it; you just do a second pass, over area that didn’t cut completely. ... show more

It is great! I have a very small yard and it is perfect for doing the yard. Most of the time I can do the yard with one charge. However there have been some times when the battery did not last. I bought an extra battery. I was amazed at the power of the mowing. It is as powerful as a gas mower and sometimes it seems more powerful! I like that I can turn it off and on easily. This makes it easy to maximized the battery/power. It is very quiet so I can mowed early in the morning. The battery charges quickly and is easy to put in and take out. I had the 20" for 4 years, mowing a very small yard occasionally. It stopped working well after a few mows, but was sufficient. When it died, I tried to contact customer service because there are no authorized repair shops in my state or anywhere close and it looked like there was a recall. Took forever for them to respond and all they wanted to talk about was the battery (which is working fine). Stupidly, I decided it would just be easier to buy another one (the 17") and use the batteries I already owned. I am under a time constraint but ordered in plenty of time. It arrived broken. A day early, yay! But broken. Where you plug the safety key in, there are just wires. I can see the plug wasn't screwed in properly and is laying inside, but there is no way to get to it. Amazon can't get me another one until it'll be too late (even though if you go to the order page right now, it says it will arrive in 2 days). Customer service kept saying they understood, but they clearly did not as I clearly stated I need it by Friday and they repeated over and over Yes! It will be there Saturday. Perhaps Saturday comes before Friday in some places... Now I'm stuck with a giant box that I cannot lift, will not fit in my car and I somehow need to get it back to amazon. Not happy with amazon or Greenworks. Also, beyond them forgetting to screw in the safety plug, the new one is really cheap and flimsy looking. ... show more

The product essentially came fully assembled. If you even seen a mower before you can have this thing up and running in less than 10 min. It's two hand twisted screws to attached the handle to the base, and then decide if you want to mulch or bag by leaving or removing the plug that comes installed, it simply unclips with no tools. I was incredibly skeptical spending my good money on a "battery mower" and felt like I should just get good ole reliable gas power. I don't know much about batteries, but all I can say is they have them developed to deliver some serious power. I have a healthy thick luscious lawn, not trying to brag but it's the envy of the neighborhood, and this little guy gave my yard the cleanest haircut I've ever seen! It was so quiet I could talk on my cellphone while mowing...no joke. This maneuver also required a one handed push and the mower is so light with no engine that it was not an issue at all. If you already have the battery this is a NO BRAINER purchase. If you don't have the battery yet, I would seriously consider the 40v green works stuff for your yard needs. This is the second one I bought. Greenworks has great products. I I have many of their 40V products plus the 80V snow thrower and leaf blower. I’m a fan for life. I’ve had the twin blade mower and really pushed it for 5 years on a large sodded lawn. It did a great job for 5 years considering the lawn was a beast. Love Greenworks! ... show more
