  • Basically a fine mower, but the battery charger has issues.
Size: 20" Mower (2 x 4.0Ah)
I bought this mower to replace an old Black & Decker that used the big heavy sealed-lead-acid batteries. With the newer technology of lithium batteries, electric mowers are now much lighter. After several uses, this mower seems quite sturdy and it makes a nice even cut. The only issue is that the battery charger seems to often go into some kind of funky mode in which the red lights are blinking. This has nothing to do with the batteries which are just fine. I have to unplug the charger and plug it back in to get it to operate properly. It is possible that the charger is susceptible to strong radio stations in the vicinity. So, you many never see this problem. The designer of the charger could have fixed this problem for just a few cents of additional components. So it's a poor design. Still, this will not impede my use of this mower for, hopefully, many years. ... show more

Size: 20" SP Mower + Drill (2 x 5.0Ah)
This mower is excellent!!! My charge last for about 45 min.. I swear by this thing!! It’s able to cut wet grass and it doesn’t make much noise.. I’ve been on the phone using my mower 😂.. Great buy!! I sound like I work for the company but I don’t..

  • It is a solid machine
Size: 20" SP Mower + Drill (2 x 5.0Ah)
I have used it a lot as I also mow the lawn for my neighbors. It has performed as well as any mower that I have owned. It is easy to use and getting it set up is both logical and easy.

  • Batteries are a long time issue
Size: 20" SP Mower + Drill (2 x 5.0Ah)
This is my 18 month update after purchasing the mower in late 2021. It had little use here in SW Florida during the early spring 2022 but weekly use for almost the remainder of the year, repeating all of this so far in 2023. Overall the mower performs well but despite care taken to try and completely discharge both batteries and avoid any battery memory, starting 6 months ago I noticed a gradual but steady degradation of the batteries charge capacity. In the beginning I got the expected 45 minute charge but at this writing it has been reduced to 25 minutes…not good. What originally took 1 hour to mow my yard now takes 5 hours accounting for 3 battery charges plus mowing time. To buy 2 new batteries (Greenworks) is about $210, so I am buying a 20” Greenworks corded electric for $220. Not a worry about the cord, my first lawn mowing was done with an electric JC Higgins corded mower 60 years ago and as an adult all of my mowers have been corded so I am very familiar with cord management. Life of these batteries and charge capacity and/or consistent charge capacity and/or replacement cost will be needed before I consider cordless again. ... show more

  • Great Mower - Great Warranty & Support (Battery Failed after 3 months, Replaced for Free)
Size: 20" SP Mower + Drill (2 x 5.0Ah)
I really love the 5Ah battery capacity. I love not using gasoline. I was incredibly disappointed that the battery failed to charge after only 3 months. There are a bunch of youtube videos describing how to recover a broken battery that won't charge, but the ones that look reputable require knowledge of electronics to give the battery a boost so it will charge normally. (This did not work for my battery. I tried it after ordering a replacement.) The most troubling problem with the battery was the noise it's making (a high-pitched squeal/hum) and it was warm to the touch. There's no sign of the contacts being shorted, but I was concerned about a fire hazard. During my first attempt to contact support I sat on the phone for over an hour to talk to support. Fortunately, I went back and tried to call support a second time and got through. I found the support agent knowledgeable, patient, and thorough. The agent was able to get the battery replaced under warranty and there was zero cost (zero battery cost and zero shipping charge). The new battery arrived in about 10 calendar days. I am very happy with the support experience and would highly recommend this product. ... show more

  • Great Mower
Size: 20" SP Mower + Drill (2 x 5.0Ah)
I did a lot of research on self propelled battery mowers. I am glad I settled on this one. It has the features I was looking for. The 2- 24 volt batteries work together for enough power to complete my fairly big back yard and side yards. One bar left on the battery. The dual battery charger is a good feature. Charges pretty fast. Don't set the self propel speed all the way to the right. You may do a wheelie like I did. Lower speed works great. The best thing about this mower is it is so easy too maneuver, being so light. You Don't have to use self propel much at all. It has a Turbo button to increase the blade speed, but You probably won't need it. Maybe in pretty tall grass. My yard looks manicured after mowing. Bagging works good but I have been just mulching with the plug in the chute. I don't even see the clippings when I'm done. And, yes..It is so quiet compared to my old gas mower. Easy to put together out of the box. Videos on YouTube. Got A free Drill with this buy. Just put the battery pack in it to see if it worked. Seem's OK. $450 total deal with tax, and free delivery with Prime. ... show more

  • 5 Stars Save Battery Life
Size: 20" Mower + Drill (2 x 4.0Ah)
I really want to give this mower a 5 star rating. It is light weight, easy to use, and cuts well. Though the best I can give the battery life is 3 stars. It will almost certainly require 2 different mowing sessions to finish your medium to moderate sized lawn. It is something that I am getting used to but am wavering on purchasing another set of batteries or the extra large set. The trouble is those batteries are nearly half the price of the machine itself. A small lawn will be one cut but anything more will likely require a recharge between mowing. That all said I am very happy with my purchase and it it is a well functioning machine. Easy enough for even a child to use for those looking for a (very) easy start and push. ... show more

  • Batteries? More like BADteries!
Size: 20" Mower + Drill (2 x 4.0Ah)
The batteries are the Achilles Heel of this product. When I bought the mower last October, I liked it. Decent power, adjustable deck height, relatively quiet, and CLEAN! No gas fumes making me dizzy. Even then, I could only count on about 35-40 minutes of run time per charge. That was okay though. We're on 1/4 of an acre. I'd mow the front yard one day, and the backyard the next. But now, not even at the end of the first season, the batteries have already gone bad. As you can see from my pictures, they are discharging at different rates even though I charge and use them identically. This was their wattage immediately after they went "dead" in the mower. I timed my last mow (with batteries that were allowed to charge all night). 17 MINUTES. So now my batteries will go back on the charger and hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to finish the 3rd straight day of trying to mow my (less than an 1/8 acre) backyard. I'm not interested in spending $100+ on new batteries that may have the same exact defects as the ones I already have. I'm probably going back to gas. I'll give the electric lawnmowers 5 or 6 years to advance technically, and maybe I'll try again. I do have a battery powered Ego weed eater that I love. Battery life doesn't matter as much to me on that. So I'm not anti-electric. I like electric. It's just not quite there for the lawnmowers. Edit: I contacted Greenworks and, to their credit, they sent me a new battery. But I think this one is even worse than the faulty battery I was replacing. It'll only charge up to a max of 24V whereas even my original bad battery will charge to 24.5V. And it dies just as quickly. There's definitely some screwy inconsistencies with these batteries. I'll probably end up trying a 3rd party option. Could they be any worse than the official ones? ... show more

  • It’s as good as they claim! I am surprised and impressed!
Size: 20" Mower (2 x 4.0Ah)
Got my mower today, did the minor unboxing assembly and charged the batteries, then gave my yard a much needed trim. First thoughts: 1) Even though I previously had a gas self propelled mower, this one weighs about half as much so it’s about as easy to use. 2) Wow it’s quiet. I couldn’t really listen to anything with my previous mower because it was loud. It was frustrating because mowing is kind of boring. But now I can listen to audio books, music, carry on a conversation and the mower is about as loud as an electric weed trimmer. 3) I was very happy with the job it did. It cut through almost three weeks of unmowed lawn every bit as good as my previous gas mower would and the few times that turbo mode couldn’t power through it, all I needed to do was back up a little, restart it, and go a little slower. Oh, and NO PULL START!!! Just hit the button, press the safety lever and you’re good to go. 4) I was really concerned that the batteries wouldn’t last through fully mowing front or back, but they did great. The spare set of batteries I ordered are just a bonus because with the second pair loaded, I can get through the whole yard end to end without stopping for a recharge. I am never going back to using a pain in the ass gas mower again! ... show more

  • What a mower! Will never go back to gas! Update # 2, battery issue was me not reading instructions
Size: 20" SP Mower + Drill (2 x 5.0Ah)
***UPDATE*** back to 5 stars, the battery issue I had was me not reading the manual. Sorry!! Just got this today, and if things change I will update. This mower was amazing, better than I anticipated. I have always used gas mowers and I was a bit anxious about going electric. I get home today, saw this on my porch and opened the box, put the batteries on charge for a short time then mowed, pics included. It mowed much more beautifully than my gas toro. I used the bag and really thought I would have to empty it several times, it seems small, but I emptied once after switching sides. Low noise, self propelled. The wheels grab too, I skidded the grass a bit when I didn't let go of the propel trigger. Also the speed setting for the self propelled is pretty awesome! Pros: -No gas/oil Needed -Low Noise -Variable speed self propel -Packs the bag attachment like a hoover vacuum -Cordless and quick charging batteries -Cuts super even Cons: - Self propel takes a couple seconds to get up to speed, would prefer more instant, but not a huge issue and would not affect my willingness to buy. Overall, if this keeps up as well as my gas mower, I will NEVER switch back. Just push out, and mow, no worries. ... show more

Size: 20" SP Mower + Drill (2 x 5.0Ah)
I bought this for the price. Two things I dont like. One, it's rear wheel drive. I never thought it would make a difference but it does. The other is when adjusting the highth it only raises or lowers the rear wheels. So if your grass is a bit long it will push it down before cutting. Makes it look like you missed a bunch and did a sloppy job. ... show more

  • Buyer beware! Do not purchase Greenworks mowers.
Size: 20" SP Mower + Drill (2 x 5.0Ah)
I purchased this lawn mower back in Aug of 2021. I have used this mower constantly without a hitch until now. I need to replace the blade and found out there is no replacement blade for this mower. I searched online and found other people with the same problem. After spending 30 mins with customer support, I was told nothing was available. I then asked how this mower could be currently sold for six hundred dollars, which is 150 percent more than what it cost me 2 years ago. Only then was when I was told of a replacement part and its availability at an authorized Greenworks part dealer. Greenworks sent me an email with a link to the vendor's online store and part. The part number that the email link led me to was part number # R0200742-00. I will not mention who the vendor is only because the vendor has no fault in this. But they do fail to provide specifications for this part and only provide a picture which does look like the part. At this vendor, the new part is priced at $70 with shipping which I found to be an insanely high price for a lawn mower blade. I feared that this new part would not fit on my mower, and I did not want to through away $70.00 so I searched this part number online and discovered that this part is 21 inches long and the mower uses 20 inches which is clearly labeled all over the mower. So I am finally left with no available part and erroneous information given by Greenworks support that could have cost me $70.00. I have no choice than to try to sharpen the old blade. My advice to all is not to buy any Greenworks products. When you start charging $600 dollars for a part that listed for $400.00 two years ago and provide no support or replacement part then you do not deserve to manufacture or market any products. ... show more

  • Cuts Grass/Poor Vacuum
Size: 20" SP Mower + Drill (2 x 5.0Ah)
I waited until I've used this at least 3 times to review it, I would summarize it as "Meh"! It DOES cut grass, and it is self-propelled - that's the good news. The bad news is it really doesn't create enough of a vacuum to suck up anything other than the grass clippings as they are cut. So for example, if you have a lot of leaves on your lawn when you mow the lawn 90% of them will NOT get sucked into the bag! There IS a "Turbo" button that increases the motor speed and suction - BUT it drains the battery quickly so you have to use it sparingly. One other nuisance is the self propel drive mechanism - it does not disengage the rear wheels immediately when you release the drive control, it takes several seconds (during which time the rear wheels are locked and will not turn backwards). This becomes really noticeable if you are mowing an area that requires you to go forward/backwards repeatedly (like a small narrow section of lawn). You engage the forward drive to make a pass, release the control and immediately pull the mower back for the next pass - but the rear wheels lock and sort of "dig in" to the lawn if you drag it backwards. If you wait a few seconds the drive eventually disengages and the rear wheels turn freely. Overall, it'll get the job done for my fairly small lawn area - but I'm unimpressed with its performance and capabilities. ... show more
