  • Works great but....
Size: 14" (2.0Ah) Pattern Name: Chainsaw
Overall, works great. Cuts through tree limbs easily. Even did 4' tree limbs. Very excited first and 2nd day. Very versatile when using a ladder. Does better than the gas powered chainsaw I had before. (Didn't get far with that one). Things I have learned. Oh boy. Make sure you register it when you first buy it! Especially the extended warranty. 1. Every 20-30 minutes check both oil level and Bar Nuts. One of my bar nuts fell off thus the last 3 days were frustrating because I couldn't use it. (Have a time schedule to finish my tree trimmings-special trash pick-up date). When the bar nut fell off my chain guard the chain also came undone and fouled up with blades bent. I thought just going to Home Depot would solve the chain replacement problem. That would be a BIG NO! Do not use their brand. NOT compatible even though their catalogue has it listed. Nothing but problems with it. So, I ordered another Green Works chain through Amazon. Watched a few Greenworks YOUTUBE videos which were ok but lacking information I wanted. It's now ready to go but it's also now raining heavily outside. So tomorrow we will see how it works. I love the Universe. 2. Putting your chain on the saw: You need to actually put it on right! I was really puzzled. OK, I am a simple guy. Get over it. Diagrams in Owner's Manual are too small for me to figure out which way it goes. The chain replacement part instruction sheet says to refer to Owners Guide! LOL. No dice there. I found one video which had a drawing so I copied it for reference. It's the picture I attached .Credit due to someone so thank you. Watch You Tube video's for basic help. Not detailed enough for me but you will get the gist of it. 3. I overtightened both the Bar nuts and the chain tension. Those also caused problems with the smooth running of the saw. That was my bad so I own it. Speaking of which - I also overtightened the oil cap so had to use a pair of pliers to get it off. Hint: You screw the cap on clockwise with the blade facing to your left. You screw it off counterclockwise. Don't overtighten! 4. I would recommend that Greenworks just adds 10 bucks to the cost of the unit and put in a 2nd chain and set of Bar nuts. Make it a much better buy. Something the competition doesn't do. Big positive there. Also, take a look at the Owners manual and add some info to make it easier to use. Blow up your diagrams some. This "also recommended to buy" is BS. That is not consumer friendly. I want a product that if I have issues with, I also have a secondary replacement to use when I call in for support if needed. I prefer just to fix it myself. 5. Anyway, the last was a little venting due to my running around trying to get it to work and continue my project trimming several trees. I would actually recommend this chainsaw for beginners like me. It is easy to use. Just remember to clean it after you finish for the day. Should last a long time. Thanks for reading! • Easy to operate - safe & easy maintenance
Size: 14" (2.0Ah) Pattern Name: Chainsaw
I researched several chainsaws before choosing greenworks - I wanted light weight - high safety ratings and powerful enough to tackle thick logs. The battery lasted perfect for my goals I sawed several thick oak trees that were already fallen in my back yard - I chose the 40 volt battery and 14 inch blade for high performance and wouldn't have to deal the gas and oil mixture - easy maintenance - I recommend highly ! And can add speaking as a female - any women out there looking for a light weight safe chainsaw you will LOVE this ! As well ! ... show more

  • Chain oiler doesn’t work
Size: 14" (2.0Ah) Pattern Name: Chainsaw
I got the saw on July 15th. I unpacked it and charged the battery etc. I went it this morning and filled the oil tank with oil. I cut a few small limbs and noticed the oiler for the chain wasn’t working. I checked everything. I even took the bar off and ran the saw to see if oil would pump out of the hole. Nothing. Saw is defective and this will cause the chain and bar to burn up. They have sent me a replacement saw. I am waiting to see if it oils the chain. ... show more

  • Waiting to long.
Size: 14" (2.0Ah) Pattern Name: Chainsaw
This is a great small saw for a homeowner. When I wore a younger man's clothes I had a number of gas chainsaws up to a 36" man killer. All were heavy and temperamental. I just about wore my arm out starting them. Now I put in a battery and pull the trigger. Also not a lot of noise if you need to work on the weekend. Keep checking the chain when you first use it as it stretches some and will come off. The first day I used it about six hours, the best part was my arms did not feel like they were ready to fall off, not the vibration of a gas chainsaw. If I was cutting wood for living this would not be the same I used every day, but as a home owner with brush and a occasional tree down this is great. ... show more

  • False advertising?
Size: 14" (2.0Ah) Pattern Name: Chainsaw
I'm writing this review a little bit prematurely because I haven't yet used the saw for any cutting. I have used the 80v saw and I really like it, and I've heard that the 40v 16in saw is awesome, so I'm hoping the 40v 14in is at least half as powerful as the 80v. But I wanted to point out to other buyers looking at this saw, that it says it has a chain brake. (Even on greenworks website it says it does) But it in fact does not! After receiving my saw I was a little baffled that I couldn't get the chain brake to work. So I called greenworks, and they told me that it shold work fine. (But the greenworks rep didn't even know what a chain brake was to begin with, so not very knowledgeable customer service) They insisted I return it for another one. But upon a little bit more detailed inpection, I see that there is a chunk of rubber blocking the chain brake from functioning. So this is really wierd... If they wanted it to just be a guard for your hand, why not just make it a fixed guard? Nope, instead they actually made it like a real chain brake that would pivot if the rubber wasn't in there to stop it. The manual (by the way) also doesn't talk about it having a working chain brake. So I'm pretty sure that there isn't anything wrong with this saw like the rep said. It was simply a poor design choice, and as for the website listing that it has a chain brake.... greenworks needs to correct that. Time will tell if I enjoy this saw or not, but a working chain brake was definitely a selling point for me, and now I don't have the feature, so that's disappointing. If you want a working chain brake, get the 16in saw. I do believe that one has a functional chain brake. Not a fake one. ... show more

  • Cuts great, get a bigger battery
Size: 14" (2.0Ah) Pattern Name: Chainsaw
I got this to go along with my other 40v greenworks equipment. Was able to cut this 18" pine down (my gas chainsaw died before I could finish the job originally) and with the 2ah battery I was only able to get two cuts of the thick 18" wood. While using it on smaller stuff it zipped through it no problem with battery to spare. Definitely handy to have around. Will get a bigger battery in the future. ... show more
