  • Just what we needed!
Our sliding doors needed some love. Got some wood filler for scratches (dang dog won't stop pawing at them) .. repainting them this weekend... and got these super easy films to keep the morning sun at bay. Its obnoxiously bright in the morning. Priced fairly compared to similar products, delivered in 2 days, and went on the windows in a about 30 minutes. It took me more time to clean the windows and trim them to size than actually hanging them. The most annoying part is cutting the film. By far. If you have the space to do it, roll out as much as you need and cut with an additional 1/2 inch-to-full-inch around perimeter. Begin to hang from left to right... I use a small silicone spatula to push into small gap where glass and wood meet. My advise for install: if you think your windows are too wet... add more. (Sidenote: you dont need the solution.. its literally the same as filling a pitcher with a gallon of water and adding a few droplets of any liquid soap. I used dial. I've used [even less] dawn dish soap with past films].) Its important to clean the windows before you put the film on. Literally one dog hair will create a giant bubble. You can easily avoid this by adequately watering your window. The more water you add, the easier the film slips around and maneuvers into place. The more you add, the easier it is for hair or debris to slip to the bottom and come out. The more you add the less likely you are to end up with air bubbles and imperfections. A squeagy is highly recommended. Sure you could find an alternative tool, but the squeagy just does it perfectly and easily. Also a box opener with a fresh blade will help make it an easy process. I can see out clearly and can't see in from outside unless I press my nose to the glass lol I noticed some reviewers mentioning distortion but I haven't had the displeasure of that myself. So I highly recommend! ... show more

  • Window sunglasses!
Wanted something that would dim the light but still be able to see outside when we want, this seemed the best value for a smoke tint that would achieve the balance. Now we can close the blinds and get the bedroom quite dark (like a cloudy day) for sleeping after the night shift but still be able to open the blinds and let light in/see outside when we're awake. Photo is after installing while it was 20°F outside with 1' of snow on the ground reflecting the sun from the everywhere... Applied on the West window, obviously the North window shown doesn't have any tint yet, the difference in person is even more dramatic as the light coming in the North window is making the shade brighter from the inside. You don't have to buy the solution and probably don't need the kit: other than a clean rag to wipe the window everything I used is in my other photo (that's a plastic drywall blade, anything with around a 4" edge would work, even a card from your wallet but I did cut my drywall tool some as I used it to hold the edge while I cut so choose wisely). I did remove my window locks with a screwdriver to make it easier to trim against the edge but that's optional. The solution will look better so if you're installing in a living room or something guests will see up close it's probably worth it, Amazon had this film cheaper than the hardware store but I did see the solution was cheaper at the store. DIY solution info: https://askinglot.com/can-you-apply-gila-window-film-with-water next summer I think we'll replace the screen with pet screen to add just a little more darkening on the lower window. Good luck! P.S. I'm here buying more for the home office (behind the monitors gets really bright sometimes)! ... show more

  • I wish I’d gone darker….but this helped!
Size: 24" x 82"
I originally got this to darken a car side rear window for my daughter. I took my time with that and it looks good. I wish it were darker, but I tried to stay within CA law and I didn’t want it to be too dark. The photo is the leftover I had which I stuck to an office window (in 10 seconds, I didn’t try at all for it to look nice) and it’s helping keep the room cooler. I have Venetian blinds covering it so you can’t see it from the inside. I did the same on my desk window so I can see my computer screen without squinting. I found it too much longer to apply than I expected. This was my first experience with window film though. The product feels good quality and it stuck to the window well when I followed the directions. I would buy again if I had a project that I just needed easy up shaded plastic for. If I want it to be something my friends can see? It probably should be a little bit sturdier and easier to work with. ... show more

  • Fragile material
Size: 24 in x 120 in
It bubbled up while installing, using a squeegee to get the bubbles out, the material folded and tore a hole in a couple places. Once installed it took only 3 days to start bubbling and peeling off by itself

  • Hard to install
Size: 48" x 120"
It took a little bit of time to figure out how to get it on smoothly. You have to spray the window with a lot of water, start putting up the film at the top as straight as possible, then start to squeegee it smooth and add water as needed. It still has a few bubbles in it but not bad. This was a big window with a shelf in the way, a smaller window without obstructions would be easier. ... show more

  • Easy to install
Size: 24" x 82"
This static cling film was fairly easy to install. Trimming was a little tricky, but maybe my blade was not sharp enough. As others noted in reviews, if you look at the film a certain way, there is some distortion but the benefits outweigh this minor issue. I suppose a more expensive film would be more clear, but for this price point, it is a good product. ... show more
